Mariana is completely professional and she does meticulous and precise work! My first impression when entering her shop is that it's very clean, pristine, sanitized, and welcoming. It's minimalist in design and function, which is fine. Her room where the magic happens is equally clean and sanitized and she is highly organized. Everything is arranged with professional attention. She takes you through each step of the procedure and calms your nerves. I have been contemplating micro blading for the past couple of years and always chickened-out. After reading her website, reviews and photos on Yelp, and then calling her and having a very pleasant phone conversation, I was convince she was the right choice. I'm so glad I went with my intuition. She takes her time, does not rush through the process, lets you know what's going on, and is very supportive. The whole process is about 3 hours, which includes signing paperwork, discussing the procedure, the markings on your face, my approval of the shape, then the micro blading. She has a gentle touch and a steady hand. When it was finally over and I looked in the mirror and I very pleased! I researched every Microblading salon in the City (Loop, River North/West, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, you name it). Mariana was fantastic. I've never gotten my brows done before and I was really nervous, because my experience in the past, when I let other people near my face has been negative. I have a unique face and makeup artists for example, never seem to understand that, and always try to apply the same techniques that work for more conventional looking faces and it comes out looking funky. Mariana took the time to really listen to what I wanted, but she also offered her input. She took her time with the measurements, with the draw and re-draw, and she let me have my way on all facets of my brows that couldn't be undone. I wanted them thin and she didn't try to push me for trendier thick brows. I also wanted them closer together, but after she did all the measurements she convinced me that they would look better on their natural lines and she was 100% right. We worked together to find the best look and they came out wonderfully. As I laid waiting for the first treatment, I thought to myself "Oh man, this is permanent! What am I doing? How do I know she can do what she says?" But I put my faith in Mariana and I am very happy I did. I am in the over 50 group so I think my skin was more challenging than expected. The process took longer than quoted. I had microblading done by Mariana and I'm so happy with the outcome! She is a professional in every sense of the word, and goes out of her way to make you comfortable. I am doubly-pleased because I deal with vertigo so I can't lay all the way back and I was concerned this would be a problem for her. I did let her know before my appointment and she was very accommodating! We worked together so that I wouldn't have my vertigo kick in and she could still work on my brows. I've been wanting to try out microblading for a while but the cost just seemed too high for that big of a risk so I dug around on Groupon when I came across MCD. It wasn't one of my #1 choices for microblading but the pictures seemed decent enough. I purchased the Groupon and messaged the business on Yelp to schedule an appointment. A couple days after I initially sent the message, I received a reply that said to call her, which I did, the next day. When I called though, the experience was less than pleasant. The woman who I spoke on the phone with was rude, short, and would not let me talk. I first let her know I called because she messaged me on Yelp telling me to do so. She was kind and asked what I was looking to do. AND THEN as soon as I told her I had a Groupon, she had a completely different tone. Before I even finished explaining that I had bought the Groupon and wanted to make an appointment, she cut me off and the first question she asked was, "Did you buy the groupon yet? Because I don't know if I can do it". When I buy a Groupon and reach out to a business, that is hardly the response I expect. I tried to answer that I had purchased the Groupon but again she cut me off quickly after I said, "Yes, I bought...". She then told me that she was booked for months and that I would have to wait a long time so I could return the Groupon if I wanted. I then replied that I still wanted to get the service and asked when she was next available. She said it would be September and I said that was fine but she immediately responded with, "Have you ever had any skin problems? At all? Anything?". I let her know I have eczema but I haven't had anything for a while. She cut me off in the middle and said she would not be able to honor the Groupon because of my eczema and that Groupon would refund my order. I let her know that I would ask for a refund and that I would also make a complaint about her tone and attitude about the Groupon. I let her know that if she didn't want people to use the Groupon, that she shouldn't have it up, thanked her, and then hung up. I received a call immediately after I hung up and she kept me on the phone to tell me that there is nothing wrong with her tone and that she would have done the service if I didn't have eczema and that I was wrong to say I was offended by her tone and that I'm making it up. I let her know that her tone towards me changed from when she thought I was just reaching out from Yelp to when I told her I was reaching out because of the Groupon. She continued to tell me that I was wrong and that no one else in her life has complained about her attitude. This experience was pretty ridiculous but I'm very thankful that I didn't go through with it. read more
