There were many tricky aspects to it and he conquered all difficulties. I felt the price was fair - he was definitely not the cheapest quote I got, but I had followed up with references who raved about him - and I can see why - he did very good work. That said, he could have been a better communicator - I would have liked a written proposal and I wish it had not been me to follow up with him on "are you coming today" - however, he had had an emergency in his family so it may have been just that. They also did a great job in repairing some subpar drywall work that was done by the original contractors. I saw him posting a lot of good pictures online and I figured i thought I'd give him a shot. We got in touch we spoke about a few jobs I have that I need help with and he said he can help me. I told him the requirements that we have and he said no problem he can get this to us. - Insurance certificate with our name on it before he starts working. - Take before, During and After pictures. This was June 19th week. June 23rd. I contacted him asking him if he was still planning on going to the clients home on Saturday to do the work. He responded yes. He told me it would be done by Sunday. It wasn't and he didn't contact me to let me know. (Very frustrating as I shouldn't be continuously contacting him). The job wasn't done over the weekend. The job was supposedly going to be done on the following Tuesday but it didn't until Wednesday. I understand weather permitting, however he never told me that he was coming out the following day. Wednesday supposedly the job was completed but it wasn't. This was a 1 man - 2 day job and pretty cut and dry project. Thursday June 29th I reached out to Dan about his project. I had to stop out at the property to find the fence installed has major issues since he never sent me the pictures. 1. Posts are loosely in the ground. They move and jiggle around. They aren't solidly in the ground as they should be. 2. The fence is chipped and cracked in several areas along the hinge areas very visible. 3. One post is being held up by a bungie cord - because the post isn't solid and is loose. 4. One post is crooked. 5. On one side of the home the fence isn't flush with the home as it should be. There is a piece of fence between the gas meter and the post loosely standing there. 6. The hinges on the left side of the garage are facing out and the one on the right side of the home are on the inside. 7. The gate can't open clearly due to the gas meter being in the way. Per the previous fence the gate opened as it was in the middle. 8. The gate on the left side was supposed to be 48" and 36" on the right side. He responded blaming me for picking out the worst materials to have installed. "Clients choice". It's a crappy installation. See the attachments. Dan asked me what I'm charging for labor and I responded; What I charge for labor or for the job has NOTHING to do with your quality of work period! He offered to have this fixed on the 4th of July and I declined as my client is having guests over this holiday weekend. This should have been fixed before the weekend not when it's convenient for him. This crappy installation can hurt my business reputation. He has used volger language with me and has threatened me because I've brought this to his attention. I had to get my attorney involved as he's acting out of control instead of fixing the problem so he can get paid. Update 7/13/18 The project is still incomplete. Unfortunately we have had to get our attorney involved since Dan has made severe threats after leaving this review online. Additionally he isn't willing to work with us and get it done how our contract with our client states. "Dans texts below; The next thing I say to you will be face to face. I'm done with the text talk. Maybe reconsider the way you talk to people, it may run some the wrong way I FUCKING TOLD YOU I WAS GOING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES. Apparently you can't read or were ignoring it. lol..... sue me......for damage I did or material I wasted of yours? Emotional distress? I'm done with this for today guy. The estimate came in way over our budget; however David assured us that the work would be high quality, and that he wanted to take pictures of the finished work to show future clients. We decided to go with him. David and his assistant finished up in mid January2024. The work was not quality at all, David really dropped the ball with this job. We definitely would not refer David McMaster's for any work. The areas that are sub-par at best are the new doors, new glass block window, hard wood flooring, and all of the paint work. We also had complaints from the tenants about the big mess that was made and not cleaned up, transporting debris from the unit to the garbage cans. If considering hiring this company, please ask David about the Exchange St, remodel. We are still waiting on him to return the keys.
