The name is deceptive. There are so many lunches and dinners to choose from here that are not seafood, in addition to the abundance of seafood. It's a fact: Mid-Atlantic Seafood can be easily overlooked for non-seafood options, ie where else in the area - or anywhere close ie New Carrolton, Landover Hills, Lanham, Seabrook, Glendale and Greenbelt - can you find at least 8 types of cake slices, 6 cheesecake flavors and 6 pies. I'll go over this later. Any entree that comes with sides will give you 30 choices. Which of the 30 sides will you choose?! With so many dining options to choose from, do yourself a favor: flip-thru all of the menu options at the tiny menu monitor to the left of the dessert case before deciding what to eat because out of the 9 gigantic, rotating monitor menus, I didn't as easily see half of what they actually offer. Just go to the small monitor and read about all of the appetizers, salads, entrees and deserts efficiently. Alternatively, visit https://mid-atlanticseafood.com/new-carrollton/ on your phone. Seriously: aside from all of the seafood on the large monitors, you can get turkey, homemade meatloaf, barbecue chicken and ribs. As for the 30 sides to choose from, some are macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and French fries. We loved the mac-n-cheese. And the cheesy potatoes look overly rich but they are not. Really enjoyed those, too. These are classic potatoes au gratin with a bit of extra cheese and a lot of flavor. They also serve diverse varieties of other sides, including lo mein, white rice and cornbread. Not to mention the grilled vegetables, green beans, cheesy broccoli, corn and other options on the massive and never-ending steam table. On the 9 main video screens, you can get more than 7 kinds of fish and choose if you want it fried, baked or grilled. We wanted ours' baked. The waiter recommended to have it grilled because it would take less time and be more tender. We didn't listen to his advice, but he was right. Our baked fish was ok but we would love to come back and taste it grilled. The variety of fish offered is impressive, from ocean perch to salmon to tilapia to flounder to grouper to mahi mahi to whiting. You can also order crabs, snow crab legs and shrimp. Also want to try the stuffed shrimp here. When it says, "stuffed," that means with crabmeat. They have a garlic butter seafood boil here with crab legs, spiced shrimp, andouille chicken sausage, corn, etc. Meow. The chicken comes 4 ways: barbecued, fried or baked and as chicken wings. They have 3 types of pork chops: grilled, fried and smothered with gravy. Their entrees come with a choice of white bread, wheat bread, a potato roll or a slice of cornbread for an upcharge of $1.00. I didn't taste the cornbread on this visit but I'd like to, next time. One team member passionately said it was really good. We tried the mango slaw and it was good but not sweet. I heard the regular cole slaw is even better, so I would like to try that because I'm guessing it's as good as all the rest of their food we tried. I would also like to try the crab fried deviled eggs and the Cajun steamed mussels. Not to mention a lot of other dishes there! And now back to the cakes. They have so many desserts to choose from. I mean: multiple flavors of cakes, cheesecakes, pies, etc. They even have Smith Island cakes, which are a thinly-layered and stacked legendary Chesapeake Bay tradition. The current flavors are chocolate, red velvet and coconut at time of writing. We enjoyed our lemon short cake, the lemon berry marscapone cake and the mixed berry shortcake. Six different flavors of cheesecake, anyone? I'll next try the sweet potato and cinnamon cheesecake, please. They also have 6 kinds of pies including pecan, key lime and cookies and cream. The design of Mid-Atlantic Seafood is understated, clean and simple: counter service, a cold case of desserts and salads, a series of long steam table ms and a small eat-in dining area for maybe 20 people. It was sat afternoon, just came from a workout so I wanted something healthy with my lunch. I ordered tofu and fries and a blueberry smoothie with whey protein. My lunch was delicious but the smoothie wasn't as good. It was a sholet period of time from when I placed the order online un the t I went to pick my order up and the smoothie was watery. It shouldn't have been that watery and they used too much blueberry mix because it should have been more thicker than what it was. I was disappointed and it did taste like blueberries more like a sweet mixture of everything else but blueberries. I was not happy with paying almost 10 bucks for a watery smoothie!!! Ordered online and picked up my food for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. ( First time eating from here.) The restaurant is cute, my food was good! It taste like it was homemade which is a good thing! I like when my food taste fresh and natural or like something I would have made myself at home ( I love to cook! ), anyways the onion rings were also very crispy and good. You can choose your side with your meal or just get the sandwich. Overall the menu has a lot of options , so I am looking forward to trying there other seafood meals! Now moving along to the presentation, I really appreciated that I had everything I needed ( sauce utensils napkins in the bag) and my food was ready pretty quickly and the person that assisted me was cool, wasn't a long line I was in and out. I visited Mid Atlantic Seafood in Lanham for the first time and was very impressed. I have aways visited the Laurel location. This location sits right in a plaza on Annapolis Road. There is ample parking outside. It's extremely clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My mom had a taste for fish and I immediately thought of Mid Atlantic. We ordered two fry fish sandwiches with sides. I got the fried tilapia and she got the fried catfish sandwich. We also ordered a few sides: teriyaki green beans with mushrooms, coleslaw, seafood salad, and peach cobbler. Everything was delicious! Don't let the location fool you! I haven't been to a Mid Atlantic in years. I used to go to the Hyattsville location. I was in the area and decided to give it a try. It was exactly as I remembered. I ordered fish&shrimp with teriyaki green beans and scalloped potatoes. Portions are huge, prices are reasonable and service is friendly enough. Fish and shrimp were made to order, so be prepared for a short wait, but it's worth it. There was enough for at least 2-3 meals. A big plus for me is that the place is clean!!! Floors, table, even the self-serve area. I don't frequent this area a lot, but so far Mid Atlantic is 2 for 2 for locations in my book. read more

This is kind of a fast food/sit down place. An attendant at a kiosk takes your order and you go and seat yourself. Dinning area is kept clean and orderly. Service: very polite, but you only interact with the staff at the order kiosk and when you pickup your order from the counter. Food: Fried grouper had great flavor and huge portion, but a little greasy, coleslaw was outstanding--very lite mayo and the cabbage still had chrunch. The hush puppies were the best I've had in a very long time. Shrimp po-boy had too much remoulade so I couldn't taste the shrimp, fries were meh. I tried their iced tea and it was great! This location has superb food all around, and I have never tasted anything I didn't love from this place. However, if you plan to dine in the restaurant, be prepared for 80 degree heat and VERY loud music that you have to shout over in the dining area in order to have a conversation. When I asked, they turned it down. A little. Other than those discomforts, I found the restaurant to be incredibly friendly and welcoming, and full of happy customers anxiously waiting to taste their food, as well as bright and happy workers. It's clearly a local favorite, and not just for seafood lovers. The man who took our order was helpful and efficient, and he even noticed that we didn't hear our number called when the order was ready, so he left his post to come deliver it to us. The flounder sandwich is to die for, just as good as the one I had in Myrtle Beach! And the selection of sides is almost overwhelming. It really helps to go look at them before you decide, but everything was fresh and delicious, with huge portions, and they put the liquidy dishes into sealed containers that don't leak. I love the cheesy broccoli, the Mac and cheese (my kids love that the most!), and the cabbage with carrots. My friend said the black eyed peas were absolutely wonderful. I love their food and service. The food is delicious. The employees are polite and respectful. I also love how clean the establishment is, in particular the doors. The doors are always clean. No fingerprints, grease or dirt. One of the employees was cleaning the doors as I was leaving today after getting my food. I've been to several restaurants & fast food establishments in Prince George's County. Many of them do not clean their doors regularly. MidAtlantic-- and this location in particular have never failed me when I'm crazing comfort food or fried fish. I always get the teriyaki green beans and they are consistently good. On my most recent trip, I opted for the cheesy broccoli. It wasn't my favorite, there wasn't much flavor or seasoning so I'll go back to the cheesy potatoes next time. The whiting fish was fried perfectly and there was enough for 2 full meals. They don't skimp on portions here, so if you're looking for good food at a reasonable price point, you shouldn't be disappointed. I'm taking one star because from my experience their desserts can be hit or miss. I order the banana pudding and it was literally just bananas and pudding in a cup. No wafers, cheese cookies, nothing. I wasn't expecting much, but at least a traditional recipe would have been nice. We stopped by to pick up some seafood for dinner. This place was packed and had lots of customers in and out. The menu is extensive and it took me a while to decide what to order. We ended up ordering stuff baked salmon with cabbage and broccoli covered with cheese, honey garlic fried shrimp tacos, crab cake sandwich with chips and coleslaw. After you place your order and pay you get a number and pick up the food. The service is efficient and the waiting time was reasonable. I placed a second order of desserts. I ordered sweet potato pie and turtle cheesecake. So far everything tastes good and I'm too full to tackle dessert now. IYKYK (If you know, you know) Who doesn't like a Mom and Pop type of establishment. This is exactly the feel of the New Carrolton (and Hyattsville) location has. I love how everyone already knows their order because they, no doubt, have ordered the same order many times before. The food is always consistently good and across each location. Shout out to the lady cashier who was helping me. I was "strong and wrong" while ordering and she was as nice and helpful as can be. While visiting Maryland, a friend suggested that I try this place out for dinner since I was hungry. Upon arrival, you can smell the aroma of the food greet you in the parking lot in front of the restaurant. It smelled really good when I opened the door so I was super excited about eating here after being apprehensive because I don't just eat at any soul food restaurant. Everything looked good and the restaurant was really clean. You order at one station and then you pick up your order at another station. However, when we arrived back home and I sat down to eat my food was I slightly disappointed. I ordered baked turkey wings, candied yams and collard greens and a slice of lemon meringue for my dessert. The turkey wings should have been seasoned a bit more because it had no taste and they should have been baked a little more uncovered so that the skin can brown. The collard greens and stalks could have also been better as well. The only thing that I enjoyed was the candied yams. It was just okay for me but it seemed to be a favorite local spot in terms of the customers who frequented the restaurant while we waited to be serviced.
