Great experience. Clean. Great music. Wonderful and patient customer service. Demetrius and Happy were super awesome and patient with my children and I. I had to feed 4 kiddos and they explained the menu to me. Great location!

Jerk Meatloaf
Starvel D.

It's my first visit to Dat Jerk. I wanted to try something different so I opted for the jerk meatloaf with rice and peas and cabbage. I've had a lot of meatloaf but never like this. The rice & cabbage were solid but the meatloaf was the star. It tasted exactly how I thought it would. In my opinion, if you add jerk to any meat, it'll make it better and this meatloaf was no exception.

A nearby spot for authentic Jamaican food on lunch break?? NO problem! I discovered this place and thought the name of it was very cool. LOL I LOVE jerk chicken patties and saw that they had that on their menu so I decided to stop in! I am very glad that I did. The atmosphere was laid back but clean and so nice! There was Reggae playing so that really added to it, too. I was there on a coldddd February day but felt the warmth of the islands and perfectly spiced jerk chicken patties on my visit! I joined their reward program which gets you lots of awesome deals! The service is also very fast and down to earth. They might say that they are DAT JERK but there are no JERKS here! hehe Come on down and give it a try! :)

Apple Caramel Rum Cake! Delicious...

Today I opted for a pound of the lemon pepper peeled shrimp. So flavorful and delicious! Not too salty and swimming in butter. Probably not the healthiest meal option but enjoy in moderation. I won't be able to eat these all in one session but I will certainly look forward to left overs.

I got the chance to visit dat jerk with my father recently. I gave him the option going to silver diner or dat jerk. It took a sec for us to get our bearings but we were overall pleased with the options we ordered. The restaurant was very clean and had large portions of food which I believe matched the cost of food. I loved the roti. The wrap itself complimented the flavors inside. I opted to get the sauce on the side which was not the play since it wasn't enough. Definitely won't make that mistake again. They had a friendly staff that helped to guide us through the menu. I definitely look forward to going back.

Thursday 9/26/2024 I remember first seeing this spot years ago on a tik tok but never went cause it seemed way too far. I was visiting my dad and realized that he was much closer to the spot so I made the visit. This spot is a chain (I think 4 spots opened) and is located in the Woodmore shopping center. When it comes to ordering its kind of like a Jamaican version of chipotle where you can get your bowls & roti (burritos) but it's also more than that. I spent $68.19 on a takeout order and got: the curry chicken bowl with rice & peas and stir fry veggies with hot pepper sauce $15.28, 1/2 jerk chicken special bowl with Mac n cheese (+$2) and plantains with island bbq sauce (never got the sauce) $20.79, a pound of jerk pork with dj sauce & rude boy sauce (never got the sauce) $18.79, roti skin $2.85, coco bread $3.07, and beef patty $3.46. - Jerk chicken was pretty good and it honestly impressed me (fav item). - Mac n cheese was okay but it didn't really do anything for me. - Plantains were made well and tasted good. - Jerk pork was good and my 2nd fav item. - Curry chicken was a bit underwhelming: It wasn't bad but I expected more flavor. - Rice & peas were alright. - Stir fry veggies (aka cabbage) were decent. - Beef patty & coco bread were both decent but combining to make a sandwich was even better. - The roti skin was decent but really shines when you pair with the other items like protein & rice. - The hot pepper sauce was very HOT. Overall, spending nearly $70 for the food was a pretty expensive but some of it was worth it. My favorites were the jerk chicken and jerk pork (I'd definitely come back for it). I had brought some food home for my dad to try and he really enjoyed it (he ended up making a visit for his dinner that same day lol).

Great customer service and amazing food. I ordered the Brown Stew Chicken and it is my favorite dish there. Flavorful, tasty, and great portions!

Jerk Chicken Bowl Combo: peas abd Rice and Beans and vegetables

Seen this place in passing and finally stopped to give it a try. Upon entry at the first look the place was spacious with plenty of seating. Food is made to order. I did not get a warm greeting initially. However, at checkout the customer experience improved. The jerk chicken was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Rice and beans with the brown sauce was a nice addition. If youre looking for a quick takeaway spot, this is the place.

I visit Dat Jerk about once a month. Most of the time I just get a patty and ting but every once in a while I'll get a meal. I'm not a fan of their brown stew chicken but I like their curry chicken. Sides are good; I usually get rice and peas, mac and cheese or cabbage. Today I ordered cabbage and rice and peas with curry chicken. The portions are huge so I can usually get 2-3 meals out of an order. They usually get busy around lunch time but the staff is always kind.

Oxtails, Peas & Rice and Plantains
T C.

The service was POOR and that made me sad. I wanted to support this restaurant. The meal was $21.88 before tax, the oxtails were 4 small with 2 as bones. Unacceptable! Flavor was salty. Spoke to cashier, she responded with how many did you get, huh, what you see here! She offered another 1 begrudging and I said you can keep it. Yo expect to get what you're paying for and we need to patronize businesses with RESPECT for our money.

Brown Stew Chicken Bowl Combo w/ Rice n' Beans & Stir-Fry Veggies
DON C.

I decided to stop in here since I was shopping around at the Woodmore Town Center and starving. I am a huge fan of Caribbean eats, and this place caught my eye out of all of the food choices here. Plus, there was no lime. It was my first time here so I kept it simple with trying their Brown Stew Chicken as a test. From the menu, I ordered the Brown Stewed Chicken Bowl with rice n' peas and stir-fry veggies as the sides. Also, added the Coco Bread as a side. To start, the portions were very good and can possibly feed two people. The food on the other hand, was hot but could definitely step it up a notch on the seasoning. The brown stew chicken and stir-fry veggies lacked that flavor and kick that I am used to in comparison, when stopping by my favorite Caribbean joints in the city - DC. Also, the brown stewed chicken was cut-up chunks of chicken (i.e, like chicken nuggets --no bones) and the gravy was watered-down hence the bland taste. Never had this dish prepared this way. I am used to "bone-in whole chicken pieces" which makes for a better stew and flavor. The pepper sauce was a bit mild for my taste as well. The rice n'peas on the other hand, was one of the better items on the plate. In all, It was just okay....not bad and certainly not the best Caribbean eats that I've ever eaten. I might give Dat Jerk another try if I'm in the Woodmore Town Center area again but to be honest, I am on the fence. Ohhh! But, I must give a shout out to the customer service and the cocoa bread! both were on point! The staff was friendly and the service was quick. The coco bread tho' would make me stop here again'....it was warm, soft and so good!

If Chipotle had a soulful, culturally rich cousin... it would be Spice Black. Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors and very clean. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was okay. Not bad and just good in my opinion. Its not rave worthy but its still good. I would come back and try other options. This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. You might like it a little more than me. Its still a fairly good meal.

I decided to have a taste adventure and learn what a Jamaican Black cake was. Not a bad decision! Loved it. This cake tastes like Christmas! I'm thinking it's a dark rum that they use along with delicious fruits in the cake. You can really taste the marzipan, as well. How lovely! There is nothing plain about the unassuming Butter Rum cake. It is somehow flavorful, dense and rich while still maintaining a lighter flavor. Now onto the juices. Get them. Get 6. Get 12. We tasted the Pineapple Ginger. Meow meow meow meow meow. The Cherry Guava Ginger juice is so warming - ie ginger that brings much heat - and I love it. They have authentic Jamaican dishes here and I've tried and enjoyed the Chicken Roti long ago. I'd love to come back for the seafood dishes. They have many varieties of patties with coco bread. The beef patty with coco bread is the best amount of spicy heat for me. BTW, you could smell the curry all the way from the main road. I knew right away which restaurant that lovely smell was coming from. Their service was also fabulous with us. That's why they are 5 Stars.
