I had a fear of anything touching my eye, so I was very nervous. The doctors and assistants were the most professional I have ever had. Dr Panzo and the staff at Mt. Dora were awesome as was the staff at The Villages and Leesburg. I am 71 years old and have worn glasses since I was 7 years old in Elementary School. When cataracts affected me where I shouldn't be driving, I made the appointment and opted to have my stigmatism corrected with the cataract removal. Dr Panzo and the Mt Dora office staff spent the time on each visit to check my eyes, map and keep records of my eyes and what was needed to eliminate the cataracts and the stigmatism. The two operations were successful and my vision is now 20/20. I would recommend Dr. Panzo and the Mid Florida Eye Center to anyone looking for either of both of these procedures. I saw a dr mazai and had a refraction done that I had to pay $69 insurance won't cover. He wanted me to see a dr macron the very next day to have another refraction done that I was told they would waive the $69 fee. This has not happened. Now the refraction I had done with Dr macron for new glasses prescription is not right can't see properly out of them. Now I am to go back again to recheck with new refraction. I can't keep paying $69. I am not going to go back. I am thinking of getting new eye doctors. It's a shame it come to this. I have called billing a couple of times about this but get no where. read more

Both mom and I have been going here for a long time. We are always pleased with them, but we're extra happy today. As always, their office staff were great. They are always so friendly. Mom had all her preliminary tests run and then we met with the ophthalmologist, Dr. Plum. He is new to the practice and we were so impressed with him. He took the time to thoroughly go over mom's test results and examine her eyes. He was patient with us and answered all my questions. I really liked him, and mom did too. So, as always, I recommend them, and if you need to see an ophthalmologist, ask for Dr. Plum. read more

Dr Maizel is a good doctor. Couldn't really ask for better. My only critique is on their self sign in system. Who ever thought of this needs to consider the community of people they're serving. I've been here twice with my mom, and both times, nearly every patient had a difficult time signing in. My daughter scratched her eye on vacation and went in for an exam. She paid $89 and they prescribed some eye drops. Then 6 months later we unexpectly got a bill for another $215. I tried calling the office to discuss, and even though I called probably 15 times, no on answered the phone. So I mailed a partial payment along with a letter with questions about the bill. I heard nothing back. Then I get a letter saying that since I did not pay the bill and made no effort to work out a payment plan, we were being turned over to a collection agency. I think callling numerous times, making a partial payment and sending a letter is making an effort to address the bill. So I was extremely frustrated, but mailed a check for the balance since I had no alternative and did not think there was any chance of communicating with them. They did not cash the check for 3 1/2 weeks and then gave our account to a collection agency anyway after we paid off the balance. Now I have to deal with that. I would give 0 stars if I could, since communication was terrible, no way to contact them, no interest in patient concerns or questions after the appointment - - only interest in money. read more

I am so upset. I was referred to see an ophthalmologist from my optometrist months ago. The earliest I could get in was Feb 1st. I have been on an adventure before being referred to see an ophthalmologist. I have been on a journey to see what is going on with my eyes since October 8th. I had scheduled off of work for my appointment. I left an office that is incredibly short staffed. I finally get to my appointment hoping to figure something out finally just to be told I didn't have an appointment today they called the wrong number & left a voicemail that my appointment was rescheduled for march 8th. I could just cry. The lady that scheduled my appointment originally was so sweet & I was excited to visit & see how great their other staff was. Well when I got to the counter, the lady who broke the bad news seemed like she could care less & like her job was miserable. She was only giving me the option to reschedule for Wednesday bc that was the only time this dr was at that location. Well originally I wanted to schedule for mt Dora but the 1st lady got me into Leesburg sooner. So I chose Leesburg. I don't understand why the lady in the office couldn't give me the option for other drs or other locations. I should have asked but I was about to break out in tears & she really made it seem like I had no option besides Wednesday. I would just like to understand why this was the only option given. read more

The worst. All they care about is MONEY!!!!. Went for cataract surgery and Dr Bauman put the new lense in the wrong place. Then they tried to blame it on a torn retina. When I went to a second opinion, they told me about the mistakes with the cataract surgery. The Retina specialist at Shands Hospital also told me that I DID NOT have a torn retina and that the reason my vision was not clear was do to the cataract surgery. GO AT YOUR OWN RISK. Dr. Keith Charles is my ophthalmalogist at Mid Florida eye center. He is an excellent doctor. I would recommend him to anyone. He was informative, he made me feel very comfortable and I never once felt rushed in his office which is a rarity as anyone who has ever been to a doctors office would understand. If you want a doctor who is knowledgable, competent , and has years of experience then Dr. Keith Charles is your man. I have recommended him to my whole family. read more

i will never go back to mid florida eye center. i was charged 285.00 cash, since i do not have insurance for an eye exam that was not correct. they never told me to take out my contacts before the eye chart, nor the 1 / 2 test. how do you do a correct test if you have contacts in your eyes. why didn't they notice i had contacts in. wasn't any one really looking at my eyes? i also was charged ninty more dollors for this incorrect testing than what was told to me when i made the appointment. i asked why ,and was told because they did two tests. what was i getting for the 189.00 they told me in the beginning....i made an appointment because i was having problems seeing double,pressure in right eye and was running out of contacts. well still have the double vision and was not told why, nor was i tested for any thing that related to that problem. the pressure i know is from my glucoma and have run out of drops. which i was not able to get a prec for. i am still in need of contacts and when i asked if i could purchase some they told me i would have to make an appointment with an optimoligist. so what did i get for 285.00????????????????????????????????? very disappointment and feeling i was taken advantage of. read more

I had an eye exam at summerfield office, was given a prescription for new glasses. could not see with them. went back for new exam and was given another prescription, this one was even worse! re-exam was administered by a technician, not the doctor and I was charged for the re-examination. terrible service, I now have to look for a new doctor and start all over again not to mention all the extra expense. would not recommend mid-florida to anyone! read more
