made a 9:45 appointment, I arrived at 9:25 to be told that it would be 2 hour wait before they could work on my vehicle. I was there for a wheel aligment. I knew my camber was off because my tire was worn on the inside. They told me they adjusted my toe-in and my camber from -1.1 to -0.9, this turned out not to be true. My aligment was still off I could feel it so I took my vehicle to another shop to have the wheel alignment redone. The camber bolts were never touched, what they found was the upper control arm was hit with a hammer to get the reading, and they also told me the toe-in was out of spec. I will never go back to Midas, was charged for work inpropertly done. read more

Nice people, do good work... wayyyyy overpriced! One estimate to replace rear brake rotors, calipers and pads was around $1,800. Ordered everything online, but for all four wheels, plus an alternator, then had another shop install them. All in, parts and labor, cost just over $1,000. Another estimate to replace a flex pipe and short header pipe was well over $1,000. As he was pricing it out he read off that just the flex pipe cost was just $312, "and it's the last one". Same part on a shelf at Auto Zone was $25. And their estimates almost always seem to say brakes or tires are needed (needed or not yet). read more

My favourite Midas. I have been coming this Midas for more then 7years. I usually come here for oil change. Few times, I had gotten done some other work too. Like muffler, wheel alignment and brakes. They did great job every time. I never had complain about it. With oil change service, they do courtesy car inspection, which is good to know that you car is looking great and safe to drive. Tina ( she is sweet, super friendly and helpful) and Tony (mastermind behind fixing car problem ) are the best and offer exceptional customer service which set them apart from their competitors. But it was my parents car so asked him price but I didn't really know it had to be synthetic full or regular. So I asked him to give me a sec to talk to my parents regarding service. Came in for an oil change and tire rotation. Didn't mind paying for better oil, fine. Staff was friendly and it didn't take long at all, however I was told there was a power steering leak and was taken out to see my car still up on the lift. What I saw appeared to be nothing more than oil, the same oil they just changed, spilled on what is the bellow. I did not say anything to the technicians what I suspected, that the leak was merely oil that was spilled or forced out during the oil change, not power steering fluid. This was later confirmed to me by my normal mechanic, a loose bolt/screw was the cause of the leak, and a simple cheap fix. He also let me know my front breaks were due soon, something your technicians did not tell me despite preforming a tire rotation (I hope?) I was told the leak, 'could be a thousand dollar fix' and, 'We can do it today if you want.' Being a woman I have come to expect to be deceived. It's very unfortunate. Of course I will be sure to tell all my friends and family, you know how us women love to talk. read more

Nothing but good things. My family's been coming here for 10 years and has always received excellent service. The staff is extraordinary. I'm in the process of buying a my first car - called them up for advice, and Tina took the time to give me her professional and unbiased opinion, which was awesome after talking to car salesmen. This was my first and won't be my last experience at Midas. I called this morning to get a quote for new tires and was warmly greeted by Tony. He respected my budget and also understood I needed additional work done with the car. He was extremely honest when he called back after I had dropped it off. He explained what needed to be fixed and what could wait a little longer and what needed immediate attention. He even went as far as to show us how damaged the mounts for the engine were after making the repairs. The mechanic Jay came out and was talking to us as well. It was my first time at this Midas location. Tina was working at the front desk and she said they would try to service my car since they already had a packed schedule. Since it was New Year's Eve I completely understood. I typically choose Midas for oil changes (w/ tire rotation) since they have promotions for $19.99. There was also noise coming from the front passenger side around the wheel that I needed them to look at. One of the technicians, Rocky, had called me back and told me that it was an issue with the transmission. I knew that wasn't good news, but upon checking out, Tina was helpful in giving me advice when she heard it was a transmission issue. She offered me a coupon for AAMCO which took me by surprise. If she was this helpful to me as a first time customer, imagine if I was a regular. All in all, I'll definitely come back. read more

Took my car for check engine light and rumbling noise. I was told that it was my exhaust and I needed a whole new system. Had it replaced and when I picked it up it was louder than when I dropped it off. Brought it back again and they said it was fixed and noise was due to something I needed replaced. They wanted more money from me, another 650 after I just dropped 1800 for a new exhaust and was told that was the issue. Took it to two other places for opinions. Both other repair shops said they put in a terrible quality exhaust and the clamps the used were garbage and falling apart. I took it back for thre third time today and they said it was fixed and now making a new noise from exhaust and it needed a part they had to order. So after sitting there today for over an hour I was told to come back tomorrow. I left and my car died in the middle of the highway with my 3 month old baby in it! NEVER GO HERE. My car is worse than the first time I brought it in. They just take your money, use garbage parts and make your car worse! How dangerous that after they worked on it it just died. I am a short time yelp user however I felt compelled to create a review for the local Midas location where I had my vehicle service. I am very unhappy with this particular location and expected better service and pricing. One goes to Midas to have quality work done at competitive prices. I personally feel that this is not the case anymore. Upon entering the facility I felt it was quite antiquated and dirty. The building smelled of cigarette smoke (more on this later). While the staff was relatively friendly it seemed that they did not personally care and every interaction was repetitive and tiring to them. When presented with the pricing I felt that their pricing was not competitive with independent and national chains, but actually more than my local dealer. However all parts are not original equipment but aftermarket. This pricing was upsetting to me. I let the woman continue to take my information and present my car for basic servicing. Whilst I was waiting there I watched the technicians service the vehicles prior to mine. The entire time the employees were smoking. I am highly sensitive to this and was extremely displeased and offended that an employee servicing a vehicle would be smoking whilst working on it. It seemed as if everyone in a Midas shirt was partaking in cigarettes. This I believe to be illegal under New Jersey state law. I did not voice my concern in regards to this in fear that my vehicle my have been inadequately serviced. My vehicle was brought in a short time later. The employee servicing it was also smoking and my vehicle still has the offensive odor. I am very disappointed in Midas for this. In addition to the offensive odor my vehicle developed an oil leak. Displeased with how Midas showed no respect to my vehicle or myself, I returned to my local dealer. It appears that upon changing the oil the "crush washer" was not replaced causing my vehicle to develop an oil leak. I can not believe the ineptitude of the Midas brand for allowing this to be considered acceptable. To refute the verbiage of their advertisement I for one will not trust the "Midas Touch" as it is a bad touch. read more

The Good: Came in for an oil change + tire rotation. Normally synthetic would cost $69.99 but they had a promo that cut $20. That took about 30-40 minutes and it was great. Price seems about average. The Bad: Apparently I also needed an air filter replacement. Being a complete noob on how this worked, I saw the dirty filter he pulled out of my car and freaked. They ended up charging me $120 to change a stinking filter. Later on I searched online and discovered an air filter costs ~$20 and changing it yourself is relatively easy. Don't be like me and get ripped off by this place!! Either go elsewhere with more reasonable prices or just replace it yourself. read more

Do not go here! My husband took his car to Midas of Bridgewater for an oil change. After receiving the oil change, Johnny told him that he had a nail in his tire and would need a plug. So, of course, my husband told him to plug it. My husband then asked to see the nail because if it was one that they use at his work, he could get reimbursed by his company. Johnny then backtracked and stated it wasn't a nail but the tire was leaking around the edges (whatever that means). The mechanic could not even look up at my husband and make eye contact (I assume its because Johnny was lying). Johnny then stated we needed new brake pads and rotors. After declining my husband took the paperwork and surprisingly it states "front brakes low." THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF ANY CHANCE THEY GET!!!! Granted the tire plug is not a lot of money ($24.99) but if they do this to every customer they are making a mint off of ripping customers off! read more

It's never just an oil change- especially if you're a female. The last time I was there I was told that I needed 4 new tire pressure sensors for $160 each ($640 total). I left with just an oil change because 1. All 4 sensors- really? And 2. I know I could get it done for less. Fast forward a few weeks and I get a flat due to a slow leak (the tires are just over a year old). This happened the last time I got an oil change at this Midas and I was chided for not buying my tires there- coincidence? Sabotage? I have no proof but I have good instincts. I took my car to another mechanic and asked for all 4 sensors to be checked. It turns out that I needed PARTS for 2 sensors and the total bill including labor was under $40. Tony has tried to scare me multiple times into getting services that I didn't need. I don't trust this place to tell me the truth. The advice may be fabricated, but the dishonesty and the misogyny are real. read more

Always friendly and helpful. The people here always work with you to find ways to keep repair costs down. On more than one occasion they have performed repairs for me at significantly lower cost than other shops and dealers have recommended. Waiting room is clean with TV and coffee. We bring all three of our cars (two with high mileage) here for routine and major service. One caveat - always ask questions and don't be afraid to say no or ask for time to think things over before giving the go ahead on work. read more

I came to Midas with what I thought was a simple fix. We needed help replacing a light bulb. Tony diagnosed the situation and realized it was a bigger problem - the whole light assembly needed to be replaced. Tony and Tina worked with me to find a replacement light assembly - not an easy task. When I had the light on hand, they made sure to squeeze the car in as soon as possible. I was in and out in no time! I couldn't have asked for better customer service or a better overall experience. Everyone at this Midas location is helpful and honest. The waiting area is clean, comfortable and has wifi! When I need a simple oil change, I often bring my work laptop and work remotely for the short time ti takes for the oil change. Place is a joke! Total rip off! CROOKS!!! Went in today for an estimate on my exhaust system after the tail pipe separated from the muffler. A simple fix with some new pipe, clamps, and a new muffler. The mechanic put my vehicle on the lift then proceeded to do more damage to the exhaust system breaking my catalytic converter at the y-pipe. Then had his "manager" take me out to the shop to look at "what else" was wrong with my vehicle. I was handed an estimate for $2,400 for an entire new exhaust system from the manifold back. I declined and after looking on www.rockauto.com with the same part numbers Midas provided me for a new exhaust system I was happy to find out that Midas of Somerville marks up their parts (same exact part numbers) almost 3 times what it would cost if I ordered them myself. Thank you Midas you crooks, I'll be doing the job myself for $660. read more

More costly than other Midas shops -- perhaps I'm being ripped off? I recently visited this Midas for an oil change and possibly some brake work. Tony let me know that I needed two new rotors, two new brake pads and one new caliper. This was my first time visiting this Midas shop--I typically go to Flemington where I've never had an issue with service or cost. But, I'd heard that this shop had a nicer waiting area and it was a bit closer to home, so I thought I'd give it a try. I don't have an issue with the work that Tony (the service manager) did....but I do have an issue with the charge. I signed off on the charges because I thought he was being fair. When I got home, my husband told me the charges seemed high. Next day we call two local Midas shops and the Kia dealer for an estimate for the same exact work done by Tony. Guess what, Tony was $176 more than the other two Midas shops. He was only $75 cheaper than the Kia dealer--who will put in OEM parts and not the after market parts used by Midas. We called Tina (the assistant manager) to see if there was a mistake in the bill -- she said every Midas shop charges different prices. I would warn everyone...don't go to this Midas shop. They are price gouging!!! read more

09/10/15 I came to Somerville Midas to change the oil. During the service technician came to me and showed the dirty cabin filter saying that it has to be replaced. I said that I do not want to do it because I can do it myself. Technician was very angry and told that he has to put it back. The was a lot of nut shells on the top of the filter brought by rodents. The technician throw all of them into the cabin fan, that was clean when I came to Midas. I drove out and when I turned the fan on I've heard a terrible rattling sound. I turned of the fan and returned back to the Midas. I asked to bring the car to the initial condition. The stuff refused to do it. Finally I cleaned the fan at home. This is not a service I expected to get. Very disappointed. read more

I have been there a few times as it is walking distance away (yes I run across 22 to get there, even though they always offer tondrive me). They always have been nothing short of forthcoming and honest and reliable. My most recent visit was today... I made an appointment between 10am - 12pm as that was the earliest available. I received a call from the Midas Angel (Tina) about 830am telling me to come in earlier since she was able to see my current issue based on previous visits that this one must be urgent.
