Midas improperly installed my driver side front wheel and caused the studs to break off while driving and the wheel started wobbling on our road trip in the middle of the night. This issue could have seriously injured my family and I, but luckily where are all okay. If you value you and your family's safety, do not take your vehicle to Midas. They do not have the proper procedures or people in place to ensure your parts are properly installed back onto your car. You would think that properly installing and torquing the lug nots on your wheels would be important. On 3/2/24, I took my truck into Midas to get my breaks changed out prior to a road trip. The owner and the store manager assured me that all of the work was guaranteed and that they would take care of me. On 3/8/24 at 10:30 pm in the middle of Mississippi, the front left driver wheel started wobbling and I immediately pulled over. Upon inspection, I identified that there was one broken and missing stud and there were three lug nuts that were loose. Luckily, we noticed the wheel wobbling before it completely came off and caused a serious wreck. Our truck was towed and taken to a local Ford dealership where they confirmed that the lug nuts were not properly torqued. This flipped our vacation upside down and caused 3 days of the vacation to be lost and thousands of dollars in expenses due to truck repairs, tow trucks, a rental car, hotel, and food expenses. During this whole situation, the Lake Jackson Midas manager was updated multiple times a day. I continued to ask to speak with the owner, but the owner never called and never asked if we were ok. This tells you that the owner does not value customers, but only money. The manager informed me that the Owner said that his insurance was going to cover all expenses and the situation, but I never got a call from the owner or the insurance company. There are plenty of other shops in Lake Jackson that would do a much better job than Midas and will keep you and your family safe. Do not go here if you don't want to be attempted to get taken advantage of, or worse, they actually get over on you. I went in for a diagnostic test for my A/C, and they told me that the front blower motor was out, that it kind of worked when they tried messing with the wires, but it's definitely the blower motor and I should get the resistor to go with it because that could be the problem too; an over $400 quote. I looked up replacing the blower motor and it looked like something I could do, so I didn't get it done there thank god. I opened up my paneling to find one of the wire harnesses was not connected for the motor, it was very obviously left disconnected. I connected it, and my A/C was working perfectly again. I had my small daughter with me and that just made me even more upset. It was hot out, our A/C was and had been out for a week and this piece of crap man working at the front fed me a bunch of crap to try to get over on me. Don't trust these people. read more

I had just worked on this truck days before and the lines were all perfect no leaks or nothing. So sad they try to get down on innocent older women. I recommend no one ever go there. During my most recent oil change/tune-up for my Kia Sorento (June 20th), something started squeaking as I was driving a few days afterwards, so I called the office to see if they would take another look at my car. Jason, Kevin, and George worked together to identify the problem and found that a bolt in the engine compartment was missing, so they ordered a new one from the nearest Kia dealership and said they would call me as soon as it came in (and, luckily, the squeaking was not damaging my car). I brought it back in as soon as I got that call (July 14th). After fixing that, I was ready to head home when I started hearing the squeaking again, so I brought it back in and told Jason, "I still hear it," so he and DJ took the time to thoroughly investigate the back of my car since nothing in the front was causing it anymore. Turns out, my left back tire was loose, so they tightened it up after I personally drove around the building to hear where it was coming from (DJ rode in the back listening for it). I had just gone over to Burger King right across from the shop for some lunch (I had been at Midas for about two hours by then), and as I sat down to eat, I saw DJ drive my car into the lot where I could see it, he walked inside, and told me in person that they fixed the issue, I should be all good to go, and it was no charge for any of it. Sure enough, I drove home and heard no squeaking along any turns, bumps, or stops. These guys are AMAZING! I go in to have my brakes done and get quoted $241 total, which I know is a little high but I needed it done yesterday. The manager said he would call or FaceTime me to show me what was wrong before they did anything. Never got that call. I called them 3 hours after dropping off and they said the calibers were good and it was ready. I get there and they hit me up for $1159. Said they replaced all 4 pads and rotors. Why did the rotors need to be repaired? They didn't even show them to me to justify it. Saw a female walk in and decided they were going to screw me over. I had to pay it to get my car back, which I needed to drive to work today. I should have looked at the reviews on yelp before I went there. Will never go back. Contemplating hiring an attorney. I went there because car broke down with a blown upper and lower radiator hose and water pump. They replaced them but charged me $560.47 to replace a thermostat, coolant temp sensor, and extended life antifreeze which they did none of these and I came home to a completely flushed and empty coolant tank. My son went for a routine oil change. Drove less than 20 miles after the service and the engine started shaking and squealing. He called Clint who told him to drive it back to Midas instead of requesting it to be towed to prevent further damage. The car broke down on the side of the freeway. It was eventually towed to them (now with the engine locked). One worker said there was no metal in the oil. NOW they are saying the car initially had no oil and there was metal in the oil. If that were true, it would have been documented in the checklist but it was not. They are liars. DON'T trust them!! read more

Ive had multiple bad experiences. first time i went for my tires and they told me I needed all 4 replaced, the second time I went for an oil change, the Manager came back and told me my battery is weak and I need one ASAP, I ask about the price and they say they have some for 200$ in stock! I told him I would get back with him. A couple days later I went to Walmart to get my battery tested and they told me there was nothing wrong!! I compared both my receipts from that day and Midas gave me a receipt from 2001 saying I had a flooded battery, when I went back toMidas to tell them about it the manager shrugged his shoulders Like it was no big deal. $19.99 oil change is pure bait and switch. They said it would be $59 because my car has more than 100k. Then offered me a coupon for $10 off. Sorry, but I can do math. I would rather pay more for an honest price. Labor rate is a scam to. They charge you a standard labor rate for every part they replace. So if they take the front wheel off and replace three things you pay the time to take the tire on/off three times. My job took 2 hours but they charges me 5 hours labor. read more

Took my vehicle in to get the brakes changed and tires rotated, left there and come to find out they didn't tighten any of my lug nuts luckily I had a wheel cap on that caught the lug nuts that fell off. There were 4 lug nuts from 2 tires and we aren't even talking about the brakes yet. My brakes that were put on were not properly installed, the lines that you're suppose to bleed from preventing air into your brake lines was done incorrectly. My foot goes all the way to the floor to stop my vehicle. At first I gave them a chance and figured that the brakes and the new caliper that they installed would need time to balance its self out but I'm on a good 50 plus miles now and still having to push the pedal all the way to the floor. Somebody needs to be fired because if someone other than me was driving my truck they could have killed or seriously injured somebody and Midas would have had a law suit on there hands. There should be no reason why i as a customer should be checking a "so called" expert on vehicles. This is piss poor service and I do not recommend this place to anyone, especially because they will absolutely over charge you for everything. read more

Please do not make the same mistake I did. I came in for a brake job and left with my truck in far worse condition. They told me my rack and pinion was bad and could go out at anytime while I was driving. They also found an oil leak on my valve cover gasket. They were able to do the work in a quick timeframe and since I needed my truck for work I foolishly agreed to let them do the work. I had to pre pay for the entire invoice before they could order parts (no other place I have been to does this). Ok, before I brought my truck in the next day I did some research on the price of parts that I was charged for. They charged me $799 for a rack and pinion that local part stores sale for half that price new. I asked if I could cancel the work and they said no that no refunds are issued for pre paid work. After the work was done the next day I had a puddle of steering fluid under my truck. I went back to Midas and they said they reused the old hoses and tried to make a stripped fitting fit. So I declined to let them further touch my vehicle and went to a local mechanic that replaced the hose. I had also noticed smoke coming from my engine and it was oil burning off my exhaust manifold that I believed they'd spilt when changing the valve cover gasket. After a couple of weeks went by I noticed the smoke getting worse, and determined that oil was again leaking. Not wanting Midas to do further damage to my vehicle I took it to the dealership and they found a terrible problem. Not only was the gasket Midas replaced crushed from over tightening, they also chipped a piece out of the valve cover itself. So, to conclude my review I took my truck to Midas and I spent entirely too much to get it fixed and it left in worse condition. Please learn from my mistake and go elsewhere, preferably a local mechanic or dealership service center. Midas get your act together. read more

The manager Anthony is dishonest about basic services. My wife took my Honda Pilot in for basic brake service, turns out the rotors needed to be resurfaced. The guy at the desk offered a $100 discount then Anthony changed it to $50. I then called to request the 1 year warranty pads instead of the lifetime pads (which was offered by the guy at the desk). Anthony said the lifetime pads were only pads I could use in my vehicle. I knew this wasn't true and told him I no longer wanted to have my vehicle serviced here. He stated the work was already started. When I came in Anthony acknowledged other pads can be used but they don't have them available. The total price was approximately $200 more than Honda of Lake Jackson's quote. I found this out too late. read more

Went for oil change and to see why my check engine light was on. They tried to sell me everything under the sun and then said they do free checks. The error code was for a gas fume leak. Instead of telling me the basics they wanted to charge me around $500 for "test" I declined and went to advanced auto. They understood and told me to buy a new gas cap. It instantly turned the light off for 10 bucks. Midas just wants your money and to take advantage of people they think they can get over on. Not good business in my eyes. read more

NEVER EVER AGAIN...My wife took my truck for an oil change and after waiting 3 hours and watching other employees standing around she finally saw it being backed out of the bay so she thought it was ready. But the technician was sitting in it on his phone for another 30 minutes until she asked the manager what was up. After the manager spoke to the tech, it was delivered and ready...or so I thought. Two months later I changed my oil myself and found that Midas left my skid plate off ($300) and after calling back to talk to the manager...he says "how do you know it was us" and "maybe it fell off". I come here every 3 months because they do good quality work,it's inexpensive but mostly because the guys are very respectful, answer all my questions,tell me when it's time to change something I really need. That is very important to me. Every once in a while I'm sure they get a customer who will gripe, complain curse and yell at them,just like today but instead of getting frustrated the manager tries to explain to the customer to no avail. He then said that the coupon wouldn't work because I need a synthetic blend oil. I told him that I have never used (in the 6 years I have owned the car) a synthetic blend oil. I had a noise in the front of my car that I thought was brake issue. I took it to Midas and after inspection it was determined that I needed new brakes. They replaced the brake pads and were able to resurface my damaged rotors saving me replacement cost on new rotors. The manager did a great job showing and explaining this repair process to me. Went to bring my vehicle during my lunch to do the brake pads front axel. After they did their $50.00 evaluation they came back that my rotors needed to be changed. Long story short after getting a break down on the cost they wanted to charge me about $500.00 for two front pads and rotors with an hourly rate of $100.00. A dealer doesn't charge that much to do work on your car let alone a person that is changing your brake pads. Will never again bring my vehicle to any of these locations.
