It all started with me making an online reservation for a simple oil change. I requested a phone call and didn't receive one in a couple of hours so I called the shop with a little hesitation. Online it said they would get back within an hour. Hmmm... Pete Gascon answered the call and immediately looked it up and saw that he accidentally sent an email instead of clicking for a phone call. His apology was sincere so I went in. When I got there I asked if he could take a look at the window washer which was filled with some strange anti freeze that had been put into the container and it was disaster. Also included were the little nozzles which were way off kilter and one side barely reached the bottom of the windshield. My question was: "How much might it cost?" He said he wouldn't charge me to check it out, no problem. Awesome! I'd contacted the Hyundai dealership about the water sprayer for the windshield a few months before and they said it would be something they would have to replace and it was about $175! I decided to keep pushing the pump button. Guess where I'm never going to do business... Back to the good story. A while later Pete asked me to come look and the gunk was gone 100% and water came through clear. They were still working on the "sprinkler system". OK, I'm not a mechanic and don't know the right jargon. So I watched and they went to battle. They were able after a few tries to blow out the stuff in the hoses/tubes/whatever they are and then they pushed the button and the water flew like the wind, covering the top of the car! From Mutt to Jeff... Then they worked on the nozzle placements and the power. The two of them worked like a smooth machine, a never give up attitude. GET THIS! No charge! Unbelievable! My wiper blades were getting shot so you bet, I bought them from Midas on the spot! And they were reasonable! Very reasonable! The service was way over my expectations and way over the guarantee to make me 100% happy. Pete also gave me the online coupon, by the way. We have a jewel of a Midas Owner here in Lincoln! I delayed posting a public review because I wanted to give ownership an opportunity to address the situation privately first. I contacted ownership on a few different occasions but did not receive a response. At this point, after already bringing the vehicle back multiple times and still having unresolved issues, I do not feel comfortable trusting this location with my vehicle. On February 23rd, I brought in my Chevy Malibu after it went into reduced power mode and the check engine light came on. Later that day, Pete called and explained what he said needed to be done, including a turbo replacement and a brake/caliper service. The quoted price for the turbo replacement seemed high compared with what I would have expected from other shops, so I chose not to approve the repair over the phone right away. Instead, I picked up the vehicle and reviewed the written estimate at home so I could think it over. The written estimate was for $4,618.16 to replace the turbo. While reviewing it, I noticed the brake/caliper service Pete had mentioned when he called listed on the estimate as "Clean & lubricate caliper anchors, slides, and bolts" for $78.75 per axle. When Pete explained it to me over the phone when he called originally, he indicated that this service had to be done as part of the turbo repair, even though it did not appear related to the turbo issue. That raised concerns for me about why it was included on the original estimate and presented that way in the first place. After thinking it over, I ultimately decided to move forward with the repair because I needed the vehicle and the shop had availability. I brought the vehicle back for the repair. I picked it up on February 25th, and the caliper service was not included on the final invoice. While I was not ultimately charged for that service, it was still concerning that it appeared on the original estimate and was described over the phone as something that had to be done as part of the turbo repair. Unfortunately, later that same evening while driving back to Lincoln from Omaha, the vehicle lost power again, the check engine light came back on, and oil was all over the engine bay. I had to pay $389.48 to have the car towed back to Lincoln. The shop then told me a hose and banjo bolt had failed and replaced those parts. After that, the vehicle continued to have problems. I noticed a strong burning smell while driving and at idle, along with a small oil leak in my parking stall. I brought the vehicle back on February 28th to have those issues inspected. I was told they could not find a leak and that the smell was normal for a new turbo. Nearly one full oil-change interval later, the burning smell still occurs occasionally, and the same slow oil leak is still present. This leak was not happening before the turbo repair. Between the diagnostic fee, turbo replacement, and tow bill, I spent $4,843.41 on this repair, and the vehicle has more issues after the repair than it did when the process began. I have documentation of the estimate, final invoice, tow receipt, and my attempts to contact ownership. Based on the cost of the repair, the issues that followed, the unresolved oil leak and burning smell, the concerns I had with the original estimate, and the lack of response from ownership, I would not feel comfortable recommending this location for major repairs, if any at all. I would also recommend that anyone who has had work done at this location carefully review their estimates and final invoices to make sure they were not charged for services that were not needed, not approved, or not actually performed. If you do notice any, you may also want to consider contacting the appropriate consumer protection agency, such as the Nebraska Attorney General's consumer complaint office. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Took my 2015 GMC Terrain in for a new timing chain. Took 10 days to get my car back. Apparently, parts kept breaking and they had to re-order. I was told it would be 2800$. However, they charged me 500$ more, for a total of 3300$! Took it back in 2 days later for a noise that Synda told me to ignore. They said 204$ for the noise. However, I was charged 289$! Whatever part they SAID they fixed wasn't the issue. 289$ for absolutely nothing and still has the noise! HERES THE KICKER; since my car was at Midas waiting on parts, I borrowed my mother's car. I heard some squeaking brakes on mom's car so, I called Midas, [while my terrain was at midas] and got her car in to check on the brakes. Midas said my mom's car had a few issues and it would be 900$. Got mom's car back home and parked it in the garage. Got up at midnight to go to work and mom's car didn't get warm and died a half a block away from home. Midas drained my coolant and I figured they didn't put any back in. Synda had the car towed back to Midas. I then received a termination for not being able to make it to work since BOTH cars were at Midas! Once I learned this I went to Midas and explained I was fired because they failed to put in coolant. I was crying and telling Brandon that I was fired because there wasn't any coolant in it. Brandon explained he watched coolant being put in but, the problem was a sensor. They put in a new sensor and they didn't charge me and went home. AGAIN mom's car dies! I made it to Midas and dropped it off and I told them now I believe it was dying because it had air in the hose. And it did. They emptied the coolant and didn't clear the lines of air bubbles after they refilled the coolant! THIS IS BASIC 101 MECHANICS YOU VACUM AIR FROM ANY HOSE THAT FLUID HAS BEEN REPLACED! I tried reaching out to corporate or the franchise owner to get my money back! NO ONE REACHED OUT TO ME. It's been a month and Midas doesn't think this is serious that I lost my job for their incompetence, I will now file a small claims case! read more

The other day I had my first Midas experience and it might be my last at that location. I got a coupon flyer in the mail for an oil change for $29 which sounded like a good deal made the reservation appointment online which was slightly complicated but I figured it out. When I arrived I greeted the guys in an office and waited a few minutes to check in. They were kind of gruff with me but got checked in and gave them the keys. Also told them about the flyer which he told me wasn't a $29 oil change but just $10 off each oil change option. I'd already mentioned in the online reservation I'd be waiting since I didn't have another ride. He didn't seem thrilled but I sat and waited. After ten minutes another guy came in and he had a massive list of things for them to do for him and that he didn't want to be there too long. The guy at the counter was so surprisingly polite and respectful to that guy and had lost all gruffness. Weird... Then he says my vehicle is basically ready which I took as my cue to pay. Had my flyer ready for him if he needed. He wouldn't look at me nor did he say anything until he mumbled the price and then stared at me until I handed over my card. Then he finally wanted me to sign and he'd charged me $49... so I reminded about the coupon thing we'd talked about... while he tried to figure out how to undo what he ran I thought it was weird that they didn't mention anything about my vehicle tire, oil, irregularities or things to worry about. Then he staples a $10 receipt to the paperwork which meant he'd deducted the $10 he mentioned but that still charged me too much because he'd already charged taxes. I was so frustrated and disappointed in my experience. When I looked through the paperwork I was again surprised to find several concerns they had which were in a lot of color coded jargon unfamiliar to most and I noticed he charged me for extra oil which he didn't feel like mentioning or showing me. Basically I left annoyed and definitely not something I'd recommend. Though I'm sure the mechanics did their jobs which I appreciate so 2 stars instead of 1 because of their work. Update: I contacted Midas at their website as requested in their comment which was a waste of time basically just got a call from them. They apologized and said they'd have a talk. But didn't do anything for me about it. *shrug* don't waste your time contacting them. read more

Worst place to go in town. They dented, scratched my driver side door paints even missing. They had me for a new power steering pump since it was broken and leaking fluids. From when my belt or serpentine belt broke. They than broke my Rack and Pinion for my steering/suspension. They made me pay for it I argued about it. Was going to be $204.54 for new pump than $217.50 for labor. For Rack and Pinion costed me $364.84 for parts than $390.00 for labor. They ripped me off and didn't care the damage they done or wouldn't cover it. Had to pay total of $1,283.57. Should of done the work my self. read more

On top of this scam, they also have the worst customer service i've ever had. Rick- who manages the location on O street is an extremely rude man and made for a very unhappy person, I would've said customer, but I took my business elsewhere as they don't deserve a dime of mine, or yours. I took my car here because the shop is very close to my house and they could get my car in right away (my car was in rough shape). They diagnosed it and said it really needed $2000 worth of work, but I could get by with $1500. After 2 quick phone calls, I had a quote for the same work for $920 (thank Sears). When I went to pick up my car, I was answered with a "PICK IT UP???" being bellowed at me by the man at the front desk. How dare I, a tiny mortal, pick up my own vehicle from his shop without his consent. When I told him I was sorry, but he got beat out by over $500, he then proceeded to pout and glare at me while preparing my bill. When I asked for the full diagnostic report on my car, he barked "it's all on the bill under 'DENIED'." On the plus side, his service tech was extremely polite and helpful. I hope he finds gainful employment elsewhere very soon. This place is about a half of a block from my house. I will push my car 5 miles before I ever go here again. My car battery was completely shot and every other place in Lincoln had me waiting days or in long lines to get it done. I called Midas one night (AFTER THEY WERE CLOSED) and the owner/manager told me to come in anyway and he could help me out. He stayed over an hour after they closed to put a brand new battery in my car. So so so impressed. I'm definitely recommending Midas to any of my friends/family in Lincoln who need work on their cars. Not only that, but as a woman I'm always worried I'm being taken advantage of when someone is working on my car. I had an appointment for a oil change and tire rotation, they were 30 minutes late getting it in. The coupon was for an oil change and tire rotation. When they were done I asked if the tires had been rotated, he said no, they did not need it. He said they could pull it back in a do it. After already being there over an hour, I was late for another appointment so I said no. I have never had a problem there before, I will not be back. read more

I won a certificate for an oil change and tire rotation. When I got there they told me that one of my tires was damaged and they couldn't rotate them due to the damage. They guy showed me the "damage". I couldn't see anything wrong with the tire. They told me I needed new windshield wiper blades and tried to sell me some of thiers which were twice as much as the ones I had. I had them replaced two weeks prior, they were fine. Their inspection sheet showed they topped off my washer fluid and antifreeze. Two days later I went to use the washer fluid my passenger side squirted a little, nothing on the driver's side and the check fluid light came on. I decided to check the other fluides after this. My antifreeze wasn't filled either. You can't tell me my car uses half a gallon of washier and half a gallon of antifreeze in a couple of days. FYI, my car doesn't leak fluides. Atleast I got the oil change. Next time I'm going back to my regular guy. read more

Got my oil changed here for the first time a couple weeks ago and I was impressed. It took a little longer than an express lube but that may have been just because I went over the lunch hour. They have a lot of coupons online to save you some extra money. They even take you out to your car before they're done and show you everything they notice that needs extra care and maintenance. They were very fair and informative since I'm not exactly a car expert. They told me that it may be a good idea to start saving up for two new back tires that are getting worn and told me their prices for new tires. I agreed that they looked like they need replaced soon. read more

I had stopped last week and asked if I could have exhaust pipes made for my vintage car, the manager told me no problem bring it in early next week. I brought the car in on Monday morning and was told by the tech that it would take a couple of hours so I left the car, about an hour later I got a call from the shop to come and show the tech how to route the pipe so I drove back over to the shop, the entire time I was there the tech had an attitude that he did not want to perform this work, but his manager told him to take care of me. Before I left I told the manager that I thought his tech had an attitude problem. I left but before I got back to my office the phone rang again, this time the manager was telling me that his tech told him the job would take 10 hours and the manager told me that the cost would be $1000.00. I told them not to touch the car and I would pick it up. I did pick up the car and no one there wanted to talk to me. I took the car to another shop where the work that needed to be done was performed in about 45 minutes and the cost was $122.50 The Midas guys were very unprofessional, if they did not want to do the work they should have told me up front instead I wasted half a day running back and forth to their shop only to face attitude. read more

I had a fairly good experience here, I went in for a brake job and and oil change, ended up spending $1000 for a new tire and sway bar link, took the car out on the interstate, transmission goes out, not to mention the sway bar link wasn't the problem causing too much road noise. Midas had the car towed back home for $400! I was told I didn't have to pay for the tow. I got back to Lincoln that following Monday and they said theres nothing wrong with it. blew through a half tank of gas driving it all around town trying to get the transmission to act up, to no avail. they ended up charging me their cost for the tow home! the quality of work is okay and the people are friendly, and if they would've not charged me for the tow home for no reason, or at least replaced the gas they used in it I would've given more stars. just endlessly frustrated because I could have saved so much money if I would've taken a different route read more
