I asked ChatGPT for cheapest oil change and coupons. Coupon for $29.95 OFF $79.95 for Synthetic Blend oil change at this Midas. BUT this service writer told me I have to get an "engine flush" if I was changing from Conventional Oil to their coupon special Synthetic Blend. I told him that I am age 75 and my 1995 Corolla Wagon 1.8L has 338,000 miles and I get my oil changes at the cheapest price I can find, which this time is $29.95 with coupon for synthetic blend at this Midas location. I told ChatGPT and the service writer that I felt that "he was looking to make money for an upcharge" to charge me for "engine flush". He said "Then you have to sign a waiver holding us harmless for consequences of you turning down the engine flush" I said I would sign it. Anthony defended his stance, said to look at my owners manual and that it says 5-30W oil, and that is the way he was trained, and "he's been doing this a very long time". had an appointment for an oil change, was told it would be an hour... came back in an hour, had to ask if my car was finished because I noticed it was still parked and did not appear it had been moved. Was told it would be another half an hour... an hour and a half later I had to ask again, how much longer. Was told again another half an hour. I was the only person in the waiting room and was never updated at all unless I initiated it. I finally walked out and received a call 25 min later that I could come and pick up my car, 3 hours and 15 minutes later for an oil change that I had made an appointment for. The lack of engagement / concern from the "manager" was the most upsetting, how about 10 percent, 5 percent off? but alas no. I went in the morning and they told me it would take 1 hour to 90 minutes to change my tire. I waited there for two hours and they came saying that their air compression bomb exploded and they couldn't change my tire. Their back up compression they said was also bad. I would absolutely not recommend taking your vehicle here. Came in for a basic oil change with an appointment and took 2.5 hours. I was informed my car had a whole boatload of problems that were "urgent" and made my car very "unsafe to drive." I felt I did not trust them so I took my car to a different auto shop I trusted who redid the inspection and informed me none of those problems existed other than leaking break fluid which was a result of a screw being undone (intentionally). This left me to conclude that it was a problem made by Midas so they could try to charge me $1500 to replace my whole breaks. Definitely tried to take advantage of me because I'm a woman. Though there were nearly a dozen cars being serviced, my oil change with tire rotation took less than forty minutes. The interior was not very large, but offered K-Cups and a place to wait for your vehicle. All of the employees at this location were friendly and courteous.
