Replaced alternator that DID NOT NEED REPLACING and charged me close to $1800. I took old alternator that they took off to two different places and had it checked and there was nothing wrong with it. It had the same problem within a couple of days and I had to take ot to another place to get it fixed at the cost of $850. It had nothing to do with the alternator. I called to speak with the owner, David, to be told he wouldn't be back until the next week and they would have him call me back. Of course I've never heard back. This Spartanburg location is a joke. I'd recently had my car serviced at the dealership and was told all was ok. A few days later my Son-in-law heard a whining noise as I was backing out of the garage. My car flagged off one code, I got it fixed the next day then a code came back on. i took it down to Midas, they cleared the code without letting me know anything or the problem. They didn't fill up my AC coolant. I took my car down today and Now they're saying it's two different codes and they can't fix what's wrong. They just in it for money read more

Clean atmosphere. Quick communication. Just charged me $48 for a regular oil change! So I felt a bit shafted. I scheduled an appointment to have my brakes checked. Was pretty sure I'd need new pads. Turns out I needed new rotors on the front only. I also asked they replace a headlight. Since my car requires a lot to be removed to change lights the owner recommended changing them both so save on labor costs. I agreed. He estimated all repairs would be a few hours. I had no option but to wait. It took around an hour to complete. Fast service and courteous. All in all it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I don't think they overcharged or repaired/replaced anything that didn't need it. I would use them again. read more

THE WORST!!! A RIP OFF COMPANY... DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE !! I am in the process of filing a complaint with the better business bureau . My niece & her fiancee took her car into this place to get brake pads on her car.. Before they even looked at it , they asked were they scrubbing, well DUH!! of course they were that's how she knew to take it in to be changed. They immediately started saying things that she would need new rooters w/o even looking at her car. So they allowed them to look at the car, well they jacked it up took the tires off, Came back with a quote of $325 saying she needed front & back shoes with also new rear rooter and they also need to change our their break fluid. They have a 2001 Chevy, & this was the first time since they bought the car 1 year ago to get breaks.. Well we went bought the parts from AutoZone front & rear pads call them back they said if you buy your own part the cost would be even MORE.!! WTF!! this place is a TOTAL SCAM.. Well we took the car into Discount Tire of Spartanburg @ 2065 South Church Street phone 8864-583-7424. They looked at the car & were told their was nothing wrong with the rooters they only needed front brake pads.& the rear brake shoes had another year on them they did not need to change them right now. So of course the rear rooter was good too. Also she said that there was no need of changing break fluid what they needed was their brake fluids topped off.. The cost they paid was $40 to have the shoes put on .. The car is running great and the brake are good.. All in all these CORPORATE places like Midas, Firestone, & Goodyear, they are all about making money $$$$ they will suggest doing all kinds of bullshit to your car that you don't even need just to run up a bill... DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION !!! I will continue to report this place with the BBB and consumer affairs.. I will also post reviews as many as I can about this rip off place. Took my 1998 Ford to them. They diagnosed the problem as a "jumped" timing chain. Couldn't do the work because it required removal of the engine. I figured out a way to do it only to find out the timing chain was fine. Took it to another mechanic and found it was the coil. Serious miss-diagnosis! Recently, I had my 1991 Ford towed to them. I was away and my friend was driving it so I didn't have any where else to take it. Told me it was the "idle air control valve" and replaced it for about $225. I had replaced that part myself about 4 months earlier. I had the same problem the next day. Took it back and was told they got a bad part. Went to pick it up, started it and still had the same problem. Told me they didn't know what was wrong. That I'd have to take it to the dealer. I asked them if they checked the throttle position sensor and they said they did and had adjusted it. I learned later, there is no adjustment on that part. Took it home and replaced the throttle position sensor for $35 and that fixed the problem. When I went back to discuss the problems they had in diagnosing my vehicles, the owners response was... "good thing we don't have a lot of older vehicles come in here." They did reimburse me for the part they put on that wasn't the problem but never offered any other compensation for all the other time and money I spent. Sorry, but, "cant figure out older vehicles" is not how you run an automotive repair business. And if you can't solve the customer's problem.... NO CHARGE! read more

I have taken my car here for a few years, ever since the management change. They have always provided exceptional service. Sometimes their price has been a bit higher than others but once you break down what is included in the price, it is even or less most of the time. They keep up with all of my service records and have always bent over backwards to make sure that my car is working properly. Everybody has had a bad experience somewhere but David and Rod at Midas have consistently taken care of me and my family and I continue to go there even though I no longer work on that side of town. read more
