I had an issue with my car from a repair that Midas did. There was a malfunction to the part and Midas was able to take me in the next morning. I was upset about what happened but Tom the manager assured me that he personally would take a look and have the issue resolved. Joel and the team at the Stroudsburg location are great. I was having an issue with my Suburban. The battery kept dying. They did some troubleshooting with the electrical system as I had to replace the battery twice over the last year. The technician found that the battery The Battery Warehouse in East Stroudsburg had sold me the wrong battery for my vehicle. Once the proper size battery was installed the problem was solved. DO NOT GO HERE! I recently brought my 2016 car in with only 40k miles on it for an inspection. I think it is under new management. I suspect because I am a woman they assumed I do not know anything about cars, but I do. They told me my brake calipers were worn out and leaking and I needed new ones before I could pass. They quoted me around $800. I knew this didn't sound right, so I payed for the "failed" inspection. I brought it in directly to my dealership, asked for an inspection, and it passed with zero issues. I am currently looking into reporting these guys to the PA attorney general and better business bureau. read more

Failed state inspection because I was told i need a new windshield pump. I refused to replaced. Got my car back, right on the parking lot I showed the mgr that there is nothing wrong with the pump, all works well. Was refused to re- do the inspection unless I pay for new one ($29) again. This is not right. I feel like shop tried to charge me $200 to replace good/working windshield pump. Manager Kevin & District Manager Greg Schweizerhof Are Duo who deceive a client for unnecessary work. Took my Mitsubishi Outlander in for exhaust noise or possible leak! They came up with loose heat shield after leaving minutes later more noise. Accepting the work at no charge it made the exhaust much worse. A week later took it back they started to remove a heat shield unnecessarily and said I did not need it. Also it was removed as if they were the bully of car repair. If it was not needed Mitsubishi would of never installed it. No One Ever Said I Was Looking For Free Exhaust Work. I Wanted Proper Service example Fix The Problem at Hand Stop the Guessing Games!!! I had a rattling noise coming from my vehicle for a little bit and wasn't sure what it was so I decided to bring it to Midas because they were close and said they would do a check on it for free so I waited to see what the issue was they came to me saying it was my catalytic converter has gone bad and was the reason for the rattle and said it would cost over $600 to repair immediately I had my suspicions because there was no check engine light and never had a loss of engine power I said I will take my car as is for now and they said to take care of it as soon as possible so I decided to take it to a dealership and explained my situation they came to me and said it was only a loose heat shield and was only $50 to fix it has been 4 months since this situation happened and I have had no issue at all so needless to say I will never go back to Midas after what they tried to pull on me read more

Brought my 2003 Sonata in for inspection on 3/25/17. I was told I needed 4 tires and an alignment because of the wear on the tires. I asked if 4 tires was necessary to pass the inspection and was told I technically only needed two. So I agreed to the two tires and a $79.99 alignment. I was also charged $40 for caliper service which was never discussed. As soon as left I noticed the car pulled heavily to the left, which it did not do prior to bringing it to Midas. Also, my A/C no longer worked (maybe coincidence). My car passed inspection but after a $332.13 bill, it is hardly drivable. read more

I made an appointment to this location only because I thought it would be more convenient for me because I was getting a windshield replaced nearby. (Instead of driving back 25 min to Mt. Pocono to my regular mom and pop automotive shop) I was wrong. My appointment was at 10:30am I got in at 10:10am. They were busy which is fine. I was told that the inspection takes "about an hour". This was accurate I was told a little after 11:30 that I passed the inspection and all that was left was to write the sticker (and get my car down from the lift). I was out of there at: 11:56am. It would have taken me less time driving back and forth with getting the inspection done at the shop that I usually go to. I was told that per PA State law car inspections are supposed to take an "hour" I don't think that's an actual law because it takes way less time at my regular spot. All in all I will not be returning, lesson learned. This was a waste of my time and frustration. read more

I took my 2007 Honda Pilot in to Midas on North 9th street in Stroudsburg, PA. and asked them to flush my heater core because the heat wasn't working. I asked for this because I had seen on YouTube that this is the first thing you should try when you have no heat. I could've done it myself but its a bit messy and I didn't want to do it in my driveway. So, I took it in and specifically said that I want them to flush the heater core and then let me know if it solved the problem. Also, we have the tire pressure warning light that will not turn off. I took it in on a Saturday and they said they couldn't get to it until Monday. Fine. Monday morning I was sleeping late and my wife figured she''d just call and get the ball rolling. Well, they (lied) and told her that the water pump needed to be replaced and that they'd have to replace the timing belt and thermostat as it all comes together in a kit and it should all be handled together. She went ahead and authorized the work. I woke up to find that they're charging me (estimate) $1500.00!!! I was pissed! The work had already started. I called the shop and the guy tells me that they DID flush the heater core and that it didn't work. (another lie). I checked the hoses to the heater core when I got the car back and they hadn't been touched. you can tell if they've taken the clamps off. They hadn't been. Cut back to when I picked up the car. The guy hands me a bill for $1700 friggin dollars! I couldn't believe it. The kit that they had to get was $570 something dollars. I asked why so expensive since I had just looked up the price for the kit and saw several that were priced around $100. The manager in the back room pipes up and says "well, we have to get the tensioner arms and the belt, etc.. (all of these parts are included in the kit) I marched into his office and showed him an ad for the kit with the price said, "did it look like this?" He actually started to stammer and said yeah, and then walked away from me to go into the garage to avoid me since he knew I was getting bothered. Then, the technician who worked on my car came in and I overheard him saying he couldn't get the TPMS light to go off. The tire pressure light. Something was said and he took the car and drove it somewhere & didn't come back for 15 minutes. When he came back, the light was off and the manager tells me that they fixed it and there shouldn't be a problem. I get in my car to leave. The car actually had some warmth so I thought they'd fixed the heat. 5 minutes into my trip home the TPMS light came on again. This is the third time they've tried with this light and I'm now convinced they have no clue as to how to fix it. But hey, they had no problem charging me for it. They put 3 new sensors on I'm told. The next day we didn't drive it. Then the day after that, I went out to start the car and let it warm up. When I got in, there was no heat. So, now all I have is a $1700 bill and absolutely not a thing fixed. They charged me $800 in labor. This job shouldn't have taken more than 5 hours to complete. Yet they charged me $800. Labor rate should be around $85 - $100 hr. $100/hr is high. This tells me that one of two things happened. Either their mechanics really suck, or they're padding the labor. I'm sure it's the latter. I wrote to Midas and complained and got a response from DAVE SCHWEIZERHOF, The "Area Manager" with a receipt from their supplier showing a price of $278 that they were charged for this kit. They charged me $578 for the kit. So, they charged me over 100% markup on the kit. Dave tells me they did a market survey of other shops and wrote out some quoted prices. He then tells me that they were within 10% of that price and basically without saying it, pretty much told me I'm screwed. I don't know if any of you are math majors but $1700 compared to the highest price he quoted me from another shop which was $1257.87 does not come out to 10%. Then Dave tells me that they only replace timing parts with Top quality parts. He then goes on to say that he's sorry the heat wasn't working and that there was another issue with it. YEAH, THE ISSUE WAS THEY NEVER FLUSHED THE CORE LIKE I ASKED. Go back to the top of this review and see what I brought the car in for. This guy thinks the issue was a timing belt. He thinks the heat was another issue. I went back after that day the heat was still not working and spoke to the manager again. I said I'm quite confident that you guys didn't flush that heater core. He swore they did. He gave me a loaner car and said they'd take anther look at it and low and behold, when I got the car back, the clamps on the hoses were in a different position and I had heat. So, basically, I got way over charged for a procedure that did not even need to be done. When I brought my car in, the water pump was working, the thermostat was working, and I had no timing issue. $1700 dollars later. TPMS still on too. RIP OFF read more

I came to Midas Stroudsburg for first time this past weekend in an emergency. On Friday morning my daughter was leaving her apartment to take the Amtrak Auto train back from Florida to DC and her car would not start and had to get it jumped multiple times. She made it home safely at 2pm on Saturday and needed her car for work. I called Midas because I new Xavier was recently hired. Xavier was my trusted "to go" person from a different shop who does excellent relaible work and has been always honest and up front with the immediate required repairs and others that could wait. His personality and friendliness and customer service is outstanding. Xavier squeezed me in at three on a busy day and the Midas Team replaced my daughters battery and cable, rotated and checked the tires within an hour. Midas hired an Ace. I'll be back with my own vehicle for future maintenance read more

Charged me $242 for an item that was completely unnecessary and made no difference in the performance of my vehicle. A lot of money to me, especially when you don't make much around here as nobody makes money in the Poconos. After an argument was refunded a small amount, but the damage was already done and my trust was gone. You can bring a brand new car or truck to this place, and I guarantee you they will tell you it needs $800 worth of things that should be fixed. I'm sure I was ripped on other occasions because I have spent a lot of money over the last several years in this place. You live and learn. I've been to this Midas a few times and am very impressed. They have repeatedly helped me with small problems like tire pressure, checking warning lights, replacing lights completely free of charge. When I had issues they saved me costs and told me the truth that I didn't need expensive repairs, tests, work ups that other mechanics tried to convince me I needed for the same problem. When I did need basics done they were happy to help me find coupons so it would be more affordable. I've always been in and out very quickly. Overall service, repairs and prices were great, they did a great job, selling me a fuel injection service also which made my car run 10x better. Only thing I did not like that made me feel extremely uncomfortable was when discussing prices and nessecary work needed the manager was stairing right at my package the whole time if you know what I mean, he commented on how tight my pants where and also hinted towards something about putting his wrenches on my nuts. I called midas to purchase and install 4 new snow tires on 11/24/19. My appointment was scheduled for 11/30/19 at 9am. After I left my car at 9 I hadn't heard back from midas. I called back at 2pm for an update. I received a call back to hear that they didn't order my tires and I had to get my car. I rescheduled for 12/7/19 at 9am. I again dropped my car off at 9 and received a call at 10 asking if I wanted additional work. I agreed to an alignment. 45 minutes later I got a call back informing me my tires were all changed and all that was left was the alignment. I then called back at 2pm to get an update on my car and was told that they just got my car hooked up to the machine/tool. My car was finished 45 minutes later. After agreeing to over $650 in work I was told that the $30 coupon couldn't be fully honored. Tires aren't covered. Finally at 3pm I got my car. I received $20 instead. I have spent thousands at this location at this was my last dollar spent. read more
