As greatful as I am to have been able to get my pets rabies shot for only 10 dollars here, the way we treated was very unsatisfactory.

So I haven't even been in here yet and I don't have my own pet. But long story short, in fostering…read moremy former landlord's cat until the summer since I was the further tenant the cat took to best. Called their office today to express concerns about Fat Kitty's urine habits over the last week. I'm sure I sounded like an idiot but Sierra (I believe was her name) answered the call with such compassion and understanding. She made me feel like I did the right thing calling while also letting me know it didn't sound like an emergency. She pulled up the file quickly and was able to speak knowledgeably about a pet she may not know personally, such really speaks to the entire office's notation habits. She offered to have the doctor look over the notes and call me back with any action items. But as someone who is just watching someone else's beloved animal, I am TERRIFIED I'm doing something wrong as a non cat owner and Sierra not only made me feel so much better, she made me feel like the whole office knows this pet and cares about Fat Kitty's well being. I could not ask for a better customer interaction nor a more pleasant ending from what I was worried was a potentially hazardous experience. Thank you so much!

When speaking with the VERY RUDE manager there, she was very very difficult to talk to and calling her her true name, B###H, I was told that calling her her name, I was responsible for the bill after stating they would work with me on it. I've been a proud rabbit mama for nearly two decades, and have always bought my hay and litter off…read moreAmazon (please don't judge me; it was a lot easier in 2008 to get "exotic" animal supplies from them). Recently, the Oxbow Western Timothy Hay I've been buying online has been *terrible*; the worst quality I've ever seen. I wonder if it's sitting around for longer than it should be in a hot warehouse or truck? The hay is also frequently unavailable randomly on Amazon; and, Amazon frequently can't ship this hay out for at least seven to ten days for some reason. Unsure why this is happening, but enough is enough. So now I'm Team Animal House (and, again, I'm so sorry it took me so long to make this decision). It seems locally-owned. There's currently three locations: Damariscotta (which has a self-service wash facility), Brunswick, and Westbrook. The Westbrook location is in a strip mall and has loads of parking. The store is pretty clean, and while it's predominantly focused on dogs and cats, there is alllllllllllll the way in the back lefthand corner a section for our rodent and bird friends. And... voila! A wall full of Oxbow Western Timothy Hay (other kinds available as well) in all sizes: 15 ounce, 40 ounce, 90 ounce. It's nice to be able to look at each bag in person to see what the color/consistency/quality of the hay is and doublecheck lot numbers against each other. I bought a 40 ounce and 90 ounce bag just in case one ended up being not good, and the OH SO LOVELY employee cashing me out asked me if I wanted to join their loyalty program which would, for this particular item, get me a complimentary bag of hay after my seventh purchase. Um... what? YES. I didn't see the litter that I use here (Carefresh, all natural) or the hay cubes (Kaytee Timothy Blend), so unfortunately I can't swap all my shopping here. But I would if/when it becomes an option! THANKS for saving the day, Animal House! My extremely picky and always very hungry rabbit appreciates the good and immediate hay!

Local and accessible, the store has a variety of items we use on the regular. Can be a bit pricey…read moreand I'm not entirely sure how their reward program works...my dogs love going in as the employees always want to offer scratches and cookies!

Your response it simply untrue. I don't know on what end this misinformation is coming from. No…read morevet ever recommended we put our cats down earlier than we did. We have always followed their advice. No, not going to argue back and forth except to reiterate that we would never ignore such advice had a vet given that to us. Do you think we would have given a reference if we thought it would be in any way negative? Like I said, you may have been given false information or a misinterpretation of events by someone trying to avoid blame. or simply jumped to the wrong conclusion yourself. Cats can live a long time with this disease. He certainly was not suffering that whole time. When it was evident to us that he was, we made the hard decision to put him down ourselves, as we have had to do several times in the past with other pets. Funny- we have dealt with several other rescue organization since contacting you, and our references have always checked out.

Since I do like to help out rescues, I researched this particular case further, and found it disturbing that this aggressive dog was passed around to 4 different foster homes and having aggressive instances at each. Because I was concerned for the families being put in danger (including their own dogs), I contacted the rescue director personally to express my concerns. I also noted that the description of the dog even after the first incident where it was reported the other dog was seriously injured, they described the rescue that they were trying to place with me as great with other dogs. After doing this, the rescue director began a campaign of encouraging her volunteers to put bogus reviews on my business site. She also directed them to my business page to harrass me as well. I would not support a rescue that does business this way. They were also posting outright lies about me on their facebook page, which were taken down after my complaints to facebook.

PLEASE NOTE: This review is for shopping only…read more I always prefer to support local, but after two failed attempts at going to independent pet stores that didn't carry any rabbit stuff (actually, that's not true, one place showed me their rabbit stuff, e.g. the dog food that contained rabbit meat and the dog toys that contained rabbit hide/fur... awkkkkkkwaaaard) I stopped at this PetSmart in need of back-up hay; I found the usual Oxbow (don't buy their hay; it's bad, bad, bad), but also the in-house Full Cheeks brand (which I can't speak on yet). Picked up a 40oz bag of it, my rabbit's usual bedding, and my rabbit's usual treat for the same price I pay for it online (and, actually, it was $10 cheaper because they were having a small critter sale). While this won't become a regular stop for me, it was a quick experience made pleasant by the very friendly woman cashing me out!

Loki isn't great about cat carriers, and he is one of those cats that you think loves you until he claws out... So Lindsey was the groomer and, while I was fearful that Loki might act up - she reported that he was the best. (I privately wondered if maybe she switched him... but once at home he was the same). He had a dry wash and brush - and his coat is awesome and he smells great - plus his nails are nicely trimmed. Yay! My only downside was a lack of understanding how the process works - and check out was a bit slow.
