Historic bar, smack dab in the middle of... well... Middlefield! They have a huge food menu with tons of delicious options and a classic, no frills, divey selection of beer & spirits. It's one of those places where you walk in and can practically smell all the good memories and local kickbacks that have been had there. Love the giant fireplace and the skis-for-fence up top with the pool tables. Old wood paneling has lived on the walls of this warm, neighborhood stronghold for many years and I hope to see MT's wear it with pride for many years to come. read more

The owner of this operation told us specifically she doesn't want anyone underaged in her bar, she also made a discriminating remark that I grew up in an amish community so I would suggest anybody amish or ex amish is not welcome there. Let's give her what she asked for.. No families and no amish/ ex-amish are welcome here. This information became known after I'd experienced a rather unpleasant incident with a male I'd guess in his mid forties making sexual comments to my 15 year old stepdaughter. Even after we sought safety from him by sitting at the bar in hopes the bartender would protect us from him, but instead she choose to take his side and told me we were GOOD without even asking me if we're okay. So no, we are not good drunk Christy, The guy was completely wrong to keep going after he knew her age. You ladies are why other women don't feel safe going out in public anymore. read more

Great drink, friendly staff, affordable food. HOWEVER They are not following COVID-19 guidelines. Their was no social distancing, the owner got aggravated and made it known to us and other customers because we slightly moved our table away from the table that was less than 3 feet away. Love the atmosphere of this place! Foot ball was on all the TVs, chili was awesome, and the kids really liked their food. Service was great, very attentive, and friendly. The only thing that could have made it better was to have had a fire going in the fireplace. read more

And another decent place to eat in Middlefield comes to my attention. After working in this town for a little bit, I'm surprised at the decent food quality in the area. I live in a much larger metro suburb do Cleveland, and the availability of good quality restaurant food and service are much better than that town. Ambiance is another thing, but honestly, if I have to choose, I'll take good food and service over atmosphere every time. Middlefield Tavern is just what I expected. A dark old school tavern, small staff, plenty of TV viewing available and a pretty extensive menu for a bar. I've even tried a few things here that I normally would never choose when eating at a bar. Specifically, salads and seafood. I got a more than acceptable hose salad with a piece of grilled salmon for around $12 and it was better than I've had at places nearer to big cities when spending double that amount or more. Burgers are good (note medium has come out well done, just be aware), fries are delicious and have been right out of the frier when I've gotten them, and the service has been very good for a place being run by 2 - 3 people. So much cuter than we were expecting!! We expected a hole in the wall grungy bar. This place was so cute and SO clean!! Literally the most immaculate small town bar we've ever been in. Wow! Never had such a bad experience!!! Came to wait for a friend to have a bite .... had y'all beer while waiting & eventually a coffee .... they didn't fill the cup of beer for a tall & then served me cold coffee & the male sever copped attitude when I asked for it to be warmed up .... left decide to come back to try & see if getting a table would help ' I had a quest ..... was ignored for 10 minutes, not even a hello ..... guest had to go to bar to get drinks & ask to be served .... was completely ignored & no one ever came table to ask us anything .... was completely ignored ... it wasn't very busy ... definitely need to fire entire service staff & restart from scratch .... cool location .... never got the chance to eat anything since no one ever came around to take any type of order ....contact me if ya need a real bartender/server ... ones that care about there customers....as we left the red head girl bartender was outside smoking a cigarette & literally said " we'll miss you!" In a tone full of attitude & disrespect. This bartenders obviously rely on the fact there the only game in town other then the place across the street which isn't the greatest either , but at least there respectful & prompt service .... we left a nickel tip but where prepared to stay all night drink & enjoy ourselves .... but they made sure we weren't welcome .... so if you have a good attitude & know the service industry, this area is open & in need for real service industry bartenders & servers !!! read more

Skid-row clientele and an atmosphere that makes you fear for your life. I had to spend some time in Middlefield last month. I like pub-grub sitting at the bar with a beer when I have to eat alone. So, I sat at the bar and ordered food and a beer. Shortly thereafter, a couple with a child came in and sat at a nearby table to have dinner. The loudmouth, headache-inducing, barmaid took their order and proceeded to go into a shtick of profanities as if she were an Asian prostitute. "OOOOH ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME"... that kind of thing. Only the language got much worse... even though there was a child present. Then, while this was all going on one of the more colorful denizens started to chat me up. The guy looked like a bum and just plain smelled. My dinner didn't even come before he was trying to sell me drugs. There are only a couple other places in this small town to set at the bar and have a beer. But they are nice. You need to consider one of those first. read more

THAT BEING SAID, you are a bar with food so your main attraction should be your drink selection and atmosphere. Being that property in middlefield village, in Geauga county is selling for over 30k an acre it's time to update your draft list from bud light, Miller light , coors etc. I think they had one craft beer. I had to educate the staff on what an IPA was, and more than once was simply ignored upon arrival. If your looking for some good bar food Togo or enjoy a good dive bar, this is your place. Above-average bar-food. You wouldn't really expect it from the atmosphere, but trust me! Everyone we bring here is impressed. Buffalo chicken wrap with FRESH-CUT fries is the way to go (if you just order the fries they will be your standard frozen fries, order the FRESH-CUT ones!). However, others have ordered the Walabi sub and liked it, pretty good burgers, and the Reuben is HUGE (and delicious!) It's pretty laid back, and my family enjoys going when they visit for some dinner, beers, and pool. read more

Five stars as a local bar. Not much of a beer selection, very basic, but the liquor options are impressive for a local small town joint. The food was very good and very affordable. Got a burger with 1/2lb of beef and bacon, fresh cut fries and 3 drinks for $22 including tax. The MT burger was excellent! Make sure you ask for fresh cuts if getting fries because they also have frozen steak fries. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. This is a real country bar and I loved it. Had the best burger I have ever had; chargrilled black angus beef, tender, juicy with crispy bacon. My wife and I have been making the 30 minute trip from Warren and it's worth it. We're finding ourselves going more often. The service is really good and they're friendly. The prices are reasonable and the beer is cold and fresh. They have Guinness on tap so if you're a Guinness fan you won't be disappointed. I had the Roman Burger and it was absolutely delicious. My wife had the BELT (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, and Tomato) which she loves. The nachos were fantastic as an appetizer. We went around 5:00pm on a Saturday when the crowd picks up a bit and the service kept up. I have not been there later on a Saturday. I have been there in the early afternoon too and just as good! For the love of God, DO NOT order any fancy drinks here. The bartender will get really angry with you and act like you've grown two heads. I honestly didn't think an appletini was a high society drink. Clearly I was wrong. Anything made with vodka is kind of vile as they use Kamchatka. Friendly, homey long standing local tavern with ,country decor warm atmosphere, good food, plentifuly portions and great burgers. The menu is as large and varied as the sandwitches and portions and there's something for everyones taste. Nothing fancy, simply good fair and all the things you find with a local tavern PLUS a cozy fireplace for winter. Not cut rate but a fair value.
