The secretary insisted that as new patients we had to schedule a MEET AND GREET with the doctor or PA. I scheduled the MEET AND GREET appts. My husband went to the office and met the AP, dropped of the new patient paperwork. The AP listened to the lung sounds and that was it. He then scheduled an apt for a physical. A couple of weeks later we get a bill for $250 for that "visit." About $70 was paid by our insurance so we had to pay the rest of the balance. I called the office shocked that this was a real charge as there was no real visit and all we needed was a physical which is paid 100% by our insurance. The office confirmed that this was a real charge. We paid the charge and felt that it was a scam. I cancelled my appt for the meet and greet and will not visit this doctor again. It is truly a shame that you do not tell patients that a meet and greet means you will pay over $300 for me to come to your office and drop off paperwork and greet the doctor or AP. I could have done that when I came for a full physical. Not only you have to take time off from work but you get a nice fat bill for nothing. Had never heard of such scams but my mother in law is an AP and she confirmed that her office does not do such "meet and greet" sessions since insurance companies don't pay for them and they are absolutely a waste of time.

Both offices are pleasant, thorough, relaxing and efficient. I approached Dr. Breakstone after seeing a doctor I didn't trust. My old doctor catered to the kind of families that have ten kids and counting, the waiting room was always full, I waited for up to an hour or more after my appointment time every time, mixed up my paperwork and ultrasounds more than once, and the closest 'emergency' appointment I could be seen at took a month to book. Dr. Breakstone's office was nothing like that: she saw me immediately, sat me down for a thorough talk, a get-to-know before ever asking me to get changed, went completely over my medical history and problems, understanding how nervous and unsure I was of a new doctor after leaving the one I did. I don't feel like a number or a bother. It's never awkward which is nice because you're basically naked in front of a stranger. They listen and they were both very kind. I will continue to utilize this practice even though I've moved out of town. It's worth the drive. I've never had any issues with billing or insurance. They're pretty up front about what's covered and what's not and you can always ask questions.
