I called to get a quote on a fuel pump replacement. WOULD NOT GIVE ME A QUOTE unless I came in and spent $186 on a diagnosis first. He said he couldn't give me a quote because he was not sure if it was the pump that was bad. WTF? I already had a pump quote from another shop, and I was just trying to see what Middleton's price was compared to it. I guess he thinks if he quotes me a price, I'd hold him to it. We are two old dudes from Palm Desert, CA who recently broke down on a Saturday afternoon- 23 miles west of Casa Grande on I-8 westbound, pretty much in the middle of nowhere, in our 28' class C motorhome. We checked the 'net and found Middleton Automotive. They had good reviews and answered the phone on a Saturday afternoon. We had a 3 hour wait for a heavy-duty tow truck and were finally towed 25 miles to Middleton's. They were kind enough to agree to work on it and to wait for us to get the keys to them- which was after closing hours. We then drove the 340 miles home in our car. Middleton quickly diagnosed the problem the next Monday as a bad fuel pump. Repairs were made and we picked up the motorhome a few days later. The motorhome drove perfectly back to our home in Palm Desert. Communication was excellent and we are very happy with the repairs. Thank you for working with us. These guys are a joke, don't waste your time or money. Took my vehicle there for an air-conditioning problem. Wouldn't listen to what I knew about the what was going on just wanted to make sure they got that diagnosis fee. Wrong diagnosis tried to say it was my blower motor. "I knew it wasn't ". They tried replacing it, guess what... still didn't work. Then they showed me some stock pictures of a circuit board or something and gave me an outrageous price for repair. At this point I was feed up and wound up taking the car to the dealership. The dealer fixed the short and even programed my ecu for a quarter of what Middleton wanted. Fair warning. read more

"I KNow A Guy"... and its NOT MIDDLETON AUTOMOTIVE.. When your tech has no clue how to diagnose a problem with a transfer case that should of gave me a clue for how they operate, I was wrong in having them even work on a simple job so we would NEVER recommend them for anything more technical than a pan gasket R&R... They spent a few weeks to even screw that up. Replacing a pan gasket on a transmission is a very simple job, it took the tech 4 tries and it is still leaking. first try was to install gasket and tighten the bolts with a power nut driver, which apparently stripped the threads took it home and had a big puddle of fluid under my jeep... took it back so they could rectify the problem they said the new gasket they put on was bad... they replaced the gasket and used a power tool to start the bolts to install the pan , I was watching him do that, I told him that's not such a great idea to use a power tool to tighten bolts going into an aluminum casing, he said they do it on all vehicles to get bolts started. well He apparently stripped some bolts because when we took it home it leaked worse than when they replaced it in the beginning. Took it back to them for the third time and actually walked in on him when he was re-threading the transmission case because he said he... "Stripped another one"... this time he had put the pan on after slobbering a healthy bead of silicone instead of a gasket, took him 2 tries to get the silicone job right, because after a test drive he had to remove the pan again because he tightened the pan on with a power tool and stripped the bolts again... so another round of re-threading the threads he stripped by using power tools and another round of silicone goes on instead of a gasket or a new pan with a better gasket, in which I had to cross the street to talk to the parts store about what they are doing wrong they printed out what they needed to do ... but apparently Middleton always knows best, right...wrong!!! (oh by the way each time we are waiting in the front because it was such a simple job shouldn't take more that an hr to finish) the silicone is everywhere,..it was a disaster looked like they used JB Weld and it still leaks after all that... I did complain , they said they have a great warranty to take somewhere else to do the job right....I spoke with a transmission specialist and they said";.... "Silicone should not have been used they apparently have no idea what they are doing if they couldn't of done such a simple job as that" We will attempt to rectify horrible job done by these guys at a reputable transmission specialist using the warranty they assure us is so good, we are not counting on that since everything else has been a nightmare... "Now they may respond that the job was done bad because I was watching them ,, that's exactly what they said,... I made them nervous watching??? that was the excuse among so many others.. My husband and I stopped in last Friday afternoon with an emergency situation. I had 4 brand new tires put on my 2008 Honda Pilot the day before at Walmart and discovered one of the brand new tires was seriously leaking air from the valve stem later evening. I didn't want to go back to Walmart and I was planning to go to Middleton to get an estimate for my suspension system. Joe immediately put a new valve stem in the tire and wrote me a estimate to replace both Strut and Coil Spring Assembly's in the front and replace the Shock Absorbers in the back which were totally shot! I mentioned to Hannah that I had issues with my A/C cutting out on me and I would have to use my foot to kick under the glove box to get the blower to function. She knew instantly that I needed the Blower Motor and the Blower Motor Resistor replaced where I had been told by other shops and even the Honda dealerships that they couldn't fix it until the A/C quit completely! So I asked Joe if he would add on to my estimate the A/C repairs and a New Cabin Filter which is difficult to get access to on my Pilot. Joe told me that to do all of these repairs would require them to have the car all day which I understood. I told them that I would need to "camp out there," as I didn't have a ride. They told me that they could drive me to a restaurant at lunchtime and come back to pick me back up so I "wouldn't have to starve," Ha! The following Wednesday, I arrived at 8 am and to my surprise, Joe said they were making my car a "priority" since I had to wait for it! Joe, Keith and maybe someone else in the back all worked very hard and at 11:14 am, I was told that my Pilot work was all done and Before Lunchtime! At first, I was speechless and just stood there with amazement !!! Everyone at Middleton was so very polite and took good care of me. Joe never charged a penny for putting a new tire valve stem in, Hannah had ordered and received 1/2 of the parts the same day I went in to get the estimate. we had an overheating problem and blew the cylinder sensor for temperature ... called Middleton and had truck towed into them on a friday afternoon.. was told soonest they could get to it would be tuesday but would try to repair it sooner ! on monday afternoon received call with diagnostic information and they are fixing it now .. will be done probably tomorrow afternoon! they seem very honest , respectful, eager to please and honest ... prices are very reasonable ! i will definitely use them for repairs from now on rather than the dealership that we'd been using ! read more

Worst car repair service EVER. Had my classic Datsun 280 ZX for 14 wks for a/c repair. Ignored written instructions to return for rebuild under warranty. Said problem was expansion valve charged me $938. Returned it in 8 WKS & cruise control & a/c didn't work. THEN it was compressor, couldn't find paperwork. Got it back after another 6 WKS & I'm out $938 & the compressor can't be rebuilt. So car is exactly like it was when I took it in. I can't describe here the frustrating communication with Keith the "manager". He says the family owners are not involved, never come by, and there's no one to discuss customer service complaints with. read more

RUNNNNN!!! They seem really nice but let me tell you, it is really concerning how good they are at manipulating you to spend money. I'm super cautious and they got me. I took my car somewhere else close by and a couple important items were missing in my car when it was picked up. We searched and searched. I filed a Police report. They knew where we took it and all of a sudden the items magically reappeared in the car. A car part that is normally $40 max they charged me $100+. For all I know they did something else to my car. Really concerning. I went there bcs of the high Google rating but I believe they must pay for that. DONT go there. read more

I took my vehicle to middleton automotive to have my engine and transmission replaced, i bought the transmission from middleton and i bought the engine from midway automotive. When it was completed i picked it up and immediately noticed the check engine light was on, i went to AutoZone and put the code scanner on it and it came back with a issue with the transmission. So i called them and let them know and they said they would look into it, 2 days go by and still no return call i then notice that the transmission fluid is leaking. Long story short i came to find out that they did not install new seals when they replaced it so it was doomed to mess up from the beginning and now they refuse to fix it even though its under warranty. Instead they want me to pay them again, i already paid $7000 the first time and clearly they did not do the job correctly so why should i have to pay them again? They claim honesty is their top priority.... yea right thats a joke because if that was the case they would of at least notified me that they were not going to replace the seals. I would not be having to deal with all this unnecessary bull. I strongly urge that you do NOT trust these money hungry people with your vehicle. read more

The staff there are great... but I got burned by this business's lousy practices..... I brought a car in to have the transmission replaced. He offered to sell me a used transmission with a 2 years labor warranty, and 1 year parts. I agreed, and they installed the transmission. When I got the car back, I noticed that it struggled to start... I took it to Auto Zone thinking that battery was done. They told me that battery and starter were fine, that it was likely a connection problem. The next morning, I noticed a puddle of tranny fluid under the car. I immediately took the car back to get the issues fixed. I was told that the starting problem was a bad starter, and that the warranty did not cover fluid leaks and that it would cost me another $90+ dollars to get the leak fixed. UNBELIEVABLE. When I balked at this over the phone, The manager was rude to me. I encouraged him to stand behind his product, and he told me not to tell him how to run his business. I really really hope that the transmission holds up for the next two years because I NEVER want to go back to that place again!!!!! I will be sealing up the transmission and fixing the starter connectivity on my own. I would encourage those who need car repairs to go elsewhere. read more

One very bad experience is enough. Left a Dodge pickup there for fuel pump (lift pump) replacement. Got it back with dead batteries and an improperly installed pump. "Shade tree" mechanics at best. Wrong washers in the lift pump installation left enough threads for a turn or two on the banjo fitting on the incoming fuel line. This caused the threads to eventually strip out and the fuel line to bleed off. They seem to be very good at adding one expense after another once the vehicle is there for a repair. Better (and honest) repair is several doors to the west of them read more

I will never bring another vehicle here!!! I have used them before on 3 different vehicles. The last time I brought in my vehicle I had it towed there from Coolidge because I trusted this establishment to be fair... well they charged me $114 to tell me my car was out of gas!!!! My gas gauge doesn't work but I usually calculate how far I can go... I'm not a mechanic so as embarrassing as it is and dumb as it sounds I was just out of gas...
