I adore this coffee shop! I have never been to Columbus before and this was my first stop where their motto is "drink the coffee, do the good". The environment is southern charm, with a rustic spin. I sat on an old headboard turned bench and the cushion was a stuffed coffee sack. My kale salad was light, fresh, and the bacon and Asian dressing gave it a savory flavor. I ordered their featured coffee of the day which was jut $4 and came in a cute Mason jar. The "Haze" had hazelnut and cannon with white mocha! TL;DR Best coffee in town. Food is great as well. But the people will be the reason to keep going back. At first I wasn't sure if I would like it. I'm always skeptical my first time at a coffee shop. (I've been disappointed too many times) I always judge by the espresso to know if I'll be back. Well, this is the best quality espresso I have found in town. So I obviously went back. On my 3rd time there I think I got a chemex as well. I've been trying to mix it up a little bit here and there. So far, I love everything there. I'll often spend all day there. The food is good. I try to stay away from the sweeter things. But the cinnamon rolls get me every time. They are so delicious. All the consumable items are amazing, but it's not why I keep going back. Great coffee shop in a nice little quaint plaza. Went early in the morning so it was not that busy. Young lady barista was friendly and made my great tasting double shot espresso. Also ordered yogurt and BLT crossaint sandwich. Food was just okay, nothing special. Wished they offer granola or fresh fruit with the yogurt. The BLT crossaint was served on a cold crossaint - for breakfast sandwich, I'd prefer a warm/toasted. I guess the locals like this place, but as a first time visitor to Columbus, who really wants to support locally owned businesses, my takeaway was to just get my coffee and microwaved egg sandwich from Starbucks next time I'm in town. First I waited at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged. There was one customer ahead of us--a woman (with a baby) ordering in geologic time. When the person behind the counter did ask if I needed help I asked if we (my husband and I ) each could get a regular coffee and scrambled egg on a bagel, and what kinds of bagels they had. Apparently they only have plain and blueberry bagels--that's it, and they don't actually do 'scrambled' eggs although they do serve breakfast all day? What coffee cafe who serves breakfast can't offer the most basic of breakfast fare? The employee mumbled something incoherent about cracking eggs ahead of time and just heating them up. I guess that means they don't actually cook the food fresh at the time of the order? But they do roast their own beans for the coffee? Then why bother trying to be a restaurant. I didn't know such place existed in this small city. So comfy and cozy inside. I gave up starbucks for lent and I was trying to satisfy my cravings for some tea. Found this gem, and they serve matcha!!! I have a very diverse tastebud and it's hard to find good matcha drinks, especially to my liking, especially growing up in Hawaii and living in California where matcha is very popular. What a gem of a find, the folks here are absolutely the best at customer service which is a missing element in CA for many places of business. Where we are from, most people are obtuse "A" holes and have zero hospitality. Ok so I ordered their kale sweet salad with protein (chicken), and green tea. As you can see, the presentation isn't appealing with that glob of chicken sandwich meat. The kale was surely soft and dressing was poured enough. I'd suggest that MCH to tear that chicken up and not make it obvious that it's sandwich meat held and plopped over. They never asked if I needed water or replenish the water from my tea kettle. If they give you the kettle, you'd think they'd check if you need more water. But, that's just my suggestions. read more

Visited Midtown Coffee on my way through Columbus. The staff is SO friendly and the facility is clean, spacious, with a pleasant southern vibe. I had the regular cold brew coffee with a splash of heavy whipping cream (recommend!) and it was incredible. Came into town and had to work remote. Being from a larger west coast city, it was tough to find the kind of spots I'm used to, but I enjoyed my day here. It appeared the staff was made of family and friends, meaning they were super chatty, laid back and running in and out of the back telling stories to each other. But the vibe was happy and relaxed. They brew their own beans. I got an almond milk latte which tasted sour. I'm a hard and fast dark roast fan, so that's probably why. Latte art was 100% and superior consistency. On first glance, this coffee shop is adorable! The drinks are delicious and the scone I ate was good. After ordering an Italian soda I sat down and looked around. There are Bible quotes everywhere! Not my jam, but fine. I can deal with being in Jesus's coffee shop. I went back for the aforementioned scone and noticed a menu of special drinks, one of which was called "the dirty Mexican." Got peach blossom tea and they're homemade red velvet cake. I think it came about to be about $7. The tea was delightful! I like drinking my tea without any sweetener to get the true taste. They give you a timer for your tea, depending how strong you like it. Very good. The red velvet went pretty quick lol. Also great. It has a really nice vibe here and lots of board games. I think I found my new favorite spot in Columbus. Why didn't I come here earlier?! This place is awesome! It's a family owned and operated business (talk about support your local community!) and their Coffee is fair trade. They cooperate with Land of A Thousand Hills which is a cafe at Atlantic Station near Midtown, Atlanta. I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for everything pretty and stylish, and whoever decorated this place did an amazing job. Yes, the quality of the coffee and food is important but be honest: would you spend two hours at a place with great coffee but where the atmosphere sucked? No. Exactly. That's why it's important to create a nice ambience - and at Midtown Coffee you can definitely find it. From charming old furniture to mix n match chairs, an old piano, family pictures on the wall and books... This is like a living room. They also have two additional areas in the back which is great for later groups. All in all, I will most definitely come back here just to try all the delicious sounding beverages that they have on the menu. I find this to be the best quality cup of coffee (latte/cap) in the area, having also tried iron bank and fountain city. Very much a family, churchie atmosphere. Surprisingly the wildberry smoothie i tried was also off the chain. If you are vested in the independent coffee shop / roaster movement with a discerning pallet for quality in your coffee, i'd go to this place over the others mentioned. If you want atmosphere a little more upbeat and pedestrian area to sip and walk, the two on broadway will do. As with most places in Columbus, staff was very pleasant at all three. read more

Came in at 10 am. The inside was crowded - all the tables were taken, but found a couch. Free wifi. There are outlets near the couch but didn't see any around the tables. Good coffee - the dark roast pour over was great. Smooth and nutty because i don't like citrus in coffee. The crowd cleared out and is a little bit less crowded (it's almost noon). My only complaint: the menu is a little hard to navigate. Not like that's a problem, though. Any of the workers will be happy to help you with what you're looking for. I was pleased to find out that their iced coffee is cold-brewed, making it less bitter (and more delicious). The only other beverage I've got here was an espresso, but it was great as well. I travel a lot and always enjoy going to the small town coffee shops and enjoying their take on a variety of different coffees. Midtown coffee is an excellent place and the shop is really neat. Like the other posts the atmosphere has a cozy feeling. They don't have a lot of breakfast food so if you can get by on a bagel then this is the place otherwise, I suggest getting something substantial to eat before coming here and enjoying the coffee. There is plenty of space to order coffee and do some work on your laptop or chat with friends and plan your day. As comfortable as it is, you may find yourself staying longer than you anticipated. read more
