Midtown Dentistry has cost me about $1,400 in lost FSA funds. I prepaid a downpayment for clear aligners in December and after waiting several weeks for my aligners to come in, I was informed that I wasn't a good candidate. They should have told me I wasn't a good candidate in the first place. Instead of offering a credit for future services, they sent it back to my FSA without asking me how I wanted those funds handled. I don't know who can afford to lose $1,400 they paid all year into. Not to mention, they NEVER answer at the downtown office. It's always the answering service. Jonathon, I should have been told that I was not a good candidate from the beginning. Great office located directly in downtown. The front desk staff (Scarlet) makes you feel right at home immediately when you walk in the door. Everything was on time, and it was an extremely professionally run office. Dr. Li and Stephen, the dental hygienist, were both very nice and informative; they made me feel right at home and as if I were a friend. The front desk is ran like a ship without a captain, and is the reason why we stopped coming here after two visits. It started with our initial visit that was scheduled a month in advance. After arriving 10 minutes before our appointment and then waiting an additional 10 minutes for them to figure out they failed to verify our insurance prior to our appointment, we had to reschedule and wait another month to see the dentist. Our second attempt at our first visit was without incident, but between that visit and the next, our insurance changed. I informed their office a week in advance and provided them the new insurance info to avoid a repeat of what happened previously. WASTED EFFORT. They submitted the claim to the wrong insurance company and surprised it was rejected! What followed was a back and forth with Stacy, their front desk manager, that went on for a month trying to explain how they screwed up. It ended with us cutting our losses and going to a different dentist instead with a competent front office staff and eventually paying an $800 bill a year later because they still couldn't submit the claim correctly. TL;DR - Go somewhere else, anywhere else, unless you enjoy the stress of having to deal with insurance or paying out of pocket for covered services because their staff can't code an office visit correctly. read more

I have been going to this dentist office in the Houston downtown tunnel for over 10 years including through changes in ownership. Midtown has been by far the best experience. They use the best technology, they run on time, and have the friendliest staff. Dr. Patel in the downtown tunnel location was great. read more

I went to the Pearland office for a filling and a crown on Tuesday. Dr. Gomes did a great job, as usual. He was assisted by Christopher, who did an excellent job in fashioning a temporary crown. He was very professional and efficient. My wife and I are also pleased with the dental hygenist at this location who does a thorough job without inflicting any pain. read more

(Downtown Tunnel Office). Nice doctor, but terrible service. Called to ask how much would be my co-pay for cementing a crown. Tanisha said she'd check and call me back, Never did. Called later that day, another assistant gathered my name and info and said she would check and call me back. Never did. The day before my appointment, I call a third time. Tanisha said she had forgotten to check. She put me on hold for 5 minutes and checked while I was waiting. That shows she could have checked when I called the first time and I could have gotten that worry off my mind. Instead, she forgot about it, I had to call tow more times, didn't even apologized and puts me on hold waisting more of my time to check at the last minute. Very disrespectful and irresponsible. read more

I have been a patient at the tunnel dentist for years. Since that time it has passed through many dentists. Midtown Dentistry is the latest. Not really liking the last owners, I was skeptical of my cleaning. Right when I walked in the door I was impressed, just from the way they set-up their waiting room. It was centered around making the client comfortable - it had not really been that way before. The girl at desk was very friendly and informative. They came to retrieve me quickly. The hygienist was very nice and informative, making me feel very relaxed and comfortable throughout the cleaning. She even kept me informed of what was going on while she worked. They have added televisions to the rooms which helps distract you a little during the more unpleasant parts of sitting in the dentist chair. The dentist followed up with me before I left the chair. She was very nice, personable and professional. Gave advise, did not talk me like a parent, which I have had from some dentist and hygienists. I am relieved that the experience was so good and the people so great because this location super convenient for me. It is only a few blocks from the METRO Rail Line. It is in the tunnel so that allows me to use the surface streets or tunnel to access it from the train platform, very nice on rainy days. Plus it does not take long to get there and back to work, so my time away from the office is reduced if I had driven out to a dentist. read more

Do not go here complete SCAM! They tried to do work I didn't need!!! Went for a cleaning after moving to the Houston area. I had just had a cleaning with my hometown dentist 6 months prior. I was told I had two cavities AND I needed a night-guard, amounting to $800+. Oh and my fillings were getting "old" and were going to need to be replaced soon. I had a feeling they were wrong and went back to my trusted hometown dentist who just confirmed (took his own x-rays and looked at the ones they took as well) that I have NO cavities and need NO work done. Dr. Patel was really kind and patient during my crown placement doing all he could to ease my fears by explaining everything he was doing step by step and ensuring I was as comfortable as possible every step of the way. I had extensive dental worked performed at Midtown Dentistry downtown and also got the ZOOM! Teeth Whitening. I informed the office staff more than once that I had sensitivity to the trays, but not to the in-office procedure. They informed me that they had an additional ingredient for sensitive teeth and that I should be ok. However, if I elected to only do the in-office procedure, then the take home trays cost would be deducted from the total cost. I paid for both the complete in-office procedure and the take home trays. No color chart shading was done to my teeth to compare before and after whiteness. When I voice my concern to the dentist that my teeth were not as white as I expected, he stated that I had to wait 2 years between whitening. I decided to not get the take home trays. When I contacted Midtown Dentistry for a reimbursement for the take home trays, I was told the take home trays were complimentary for the in-office procedure. A totally different response then was provided to me prior to the procedure. Deceptive practices or double standards for 64 year old female patient who they think does not know any better and is misinformed of dental offices best practices?? read more

Has to be one of the worst follow-up and communication displayed by a dental office. Went in for a routine check-up and ended needed new retainers. Dentist and his assistant both confirm that it would be done and back with in 10 days, my appointment was mid May. After 2 weeks have gone by, I called and asked to see if they we're there yet. The office manager stated that it might be at another location and it might be in by the next day. No one call to follow up with me. After waiting the whole day for a call, I called by the next day to find out of the where abouts. Fast forward now to now, June 22nd, I called again to follow up and the office manager stated that they were in and someone had emailed me yet I rechecked my inbox and junk folder and found no email. Finally to add further insult, I do understand they are busy, they are unable to accommodate me to get me in sooner so I can get them fitted, I'm still needing to wait even long. read more

This is by far the best dental care I've received since moving to Houston several years ago. They excel in all the services I've received. Cleanings are thorough, fillings and crowns were done with the greatest of care and expertise. (I tried a few other places. Cleanings were haphazard, as were exams etc. ... ). Theyfolks here also very kind and upbeat, makes for a pleasant atmosphere in a place most of us dread to go. I highly recommend it! I've been to place the downtown and Westheimer locations. I have been a patient of the downtown location for several years now and I've been really impressed with the level of care and service I receive here. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen since everyone is so prompt and respectful of my time, and the location is convenient since I work downtown. Saira is a fantastic hygienist and I'm super picky about cleanings because of my sensitive teeth. She asks me questions about my teeth and she adjusts her technique to accommodate my specific needs which I really appreciate. Dr. Patel is very personable and also gives great care and answers all my questions so I never feel rushed. I love this place so much that I'm getting my husband to switch dentists and start coming here. Very happy with this location! read more

I so wanted to like this dentist and even if they had been so-so I would have still used them since they are downtown. 1. Scheduled appt with an in-network dentist. They changed the dentist to an out of network dentist. 2. Since the dentist I saw was out of network, my insurance sent me the check and I called the next day to pay the dentist. The man on the phone said thanks, it's paid in full. 3. I get a bill for the full amount of the routine cleaning. When I call they said it was a billing issue around timing and they will take care of it, I don't owe anything. OK fine. 4. I get a call wanting to set up an appointment for work that needed to be done right away...work that the dentist said was something we would monitore in the future and then the lady stated "oh yes ok I see that, guess we don't need to schedule the appt". Seeming really shady now. 5. I get another bill for a different amount and when I call I am told it's just a billing error and I do not owe any money. 6. Yesterday I got ANOTHER bill and called to ask what was going on again, but only got the answering service. From the bait and switch with the in versus out of network dentist, to the billing/invoicing issues I have spent WAY TO MUCH TIME dealing with this dentist office. Hoping I am the exception to their normal process, but my personal experience has been less than good. This has been going on since August 11, 2016 UPDATE: They didn't call me back yesterday so I called again today (11/4/16) and the front desk confirmed it was another mistake. I reconfirmed that what I paid, in August, was all I owed. I asked if this was really going to solve the problem of the continued incorrect billing and she said "Yes". read more
