For the price we paid, I expected much better. The speed of work was impressive, but everything else (quality, honesty, and professionalism) fell short. If you're considering them, get a second quote first. I wish I had gone with a company that only does roofing instead of one that tries to do it all. Workmanship & Quality: (1/5) The quality of work was the biggest issue. We hired them for a new roof and a ceiling repair due to a leak. After installation, the leak was still there, ruining the ceiling work they had just completed. When they came back a week later to fix the roof, they left a hole in our ceiling and didn't repair the damage they caused. Beyond that, their work just wasn't professional. The flashing was installed on top of the shingles instead of underneath, creating visible gaps and exposed fasteners. Some of the old shingles we left on vent caps, and there were random globs of caulk across the roof. Concerned, we had another roofing company inspect it, and their assessment confirmed our suspicions: the job was poorly done. We were also told we needed all of the wood replaced and were charged accordingly, yet old wood remained in multiple areas. That kind of dishonesty is disappointing. Speed & Efficiency: (4/5) They were fast, I'll give them that. They arrived at 7 AM and worked non-stop until 7 PM, even using flashlights to finish in the dark. But speed doesn't mean much when the work is subpar. Cleanup: (2/5) Cleanup was a mess...literally. I found nails in my driveway, metal shards, and staples scattered throughout my yard. This was especially frustrating since we were promised a thorough magnet sweep during cleanup. Instead, security footage showed them using a yard blower to clear debris. The lack of care was bad enough, but the dishonesty made it worse. Sales & Pricing: (2/5) The sales process felt like a high pressure pitch. The project manager was friendly but admitted he wasn't an expert and pushed the classic "buy now for a limited-time deal" tactic. They started with a high quote, only to "discount" it down to what they were willing to accept from the start. Our final payment was also higher than expected due to an interest rate increase. While that wasn't entirely their fault, they should have been upfront that the rate could fluctuate. The bathroom ceiling repair was another issue. What we got was a small patch job for a price that felt ridiculously high. When we questioned it, the salesperson dismissed our concerns, saying, "That's just how much it costs." After escalating the issue, another rep explained that it was due to a minimum service charge rather than the actual work performed. We signed a contract, shook hands and wait for them to call. 3 weeks later I got a phone call informing me that they underbid the job and would need another $1,700 from me in order to move forward. No other option, $1,700 or the project will not move forward. That's hard to understand a company that's been in business as long as they have that wouldn't eat $1,700 just to prevent negative public relations. It was their mistake not mine. Unbelievable. Next, a guy comes into our house for over TWO HOURS and misquotes us by nearly 4,000 (we didn't know this at the time). We lock in a contract and days later they call saying they need more money from us. We deny. We begin attempting to terminate our contract. It takes days for a manger to call us back to get the precess going. When we finally do talk to him he couldn't care less that his employee messed up and basically says give us the money he didn't quote or we really can't do anything. He then gives us incorrect information on how to officially trigger the contract termination AND gives us a DRAMATICALLY different timeline on reimbursement of our deposit. We had a very disappointing experience with Anthony from Midwest. He came to give us a bid on a patio cover, and my husband clearly stated multiple times that we were not planning to sign anything that day. Despite that, Anthony made us feel uncomfortable for wanting to get additional bids and was noticeably condescending throughout the appointment. When we reiterated that we would be in touch after reviewing our options, he abruptly packed up his things, stormed out of our house, and slammed our door behind him. We had Midtown do our siding a few weeks back. Worst experience ever. First the salesman arrived 45 minutes late for our appointment. Very pushy but my wife liked the quality of the product so we negotiated for the best price possible with the understanding that we would be paying the full balance upon completion. Day 1 crew showed up and had no respect for our landscaping and trampled the bushes on the side of our garage. Day 2 crew did not return. Day 3 a different crew came back and at the end of the day siding was left hanging and flapping in the breeze. Also one of my wife's decorative stone was found at the end of the driveway by the trash. Wife picked it up and put it back. 4th day crew came back again same issues siding was left hanging and flapping in the breeze over night and the wife's rock was found a second time at the end of the driveway by the trash. I pi ked it up and took it in the house. Final day crew came out to finish the job and it was subpar to say the least. I refused to sign off and a 3rd crew was sent out the following Saturday to fix the issues. We signed off and sent the check to pay off the balance. Several days later we got our check back from Midtown and we received a bill from a finance company. I contacted the finance company. They understood our issue and a complain has been filed against Midtown over this shady practice. I tried contacting Midtown again and had to leave a message with the siding dept and have yet to hear back from them. He had his standards of how he wanted the conversation to go instead of looking at what the customer was saying and what the customer wanted. He was too worried standing on the ground and me standing up on the deck because we were levels when we were talking, and that seemed to be a real big concern to him. After a brief conversation on what we were looking for, he basically started to annoyed and started to walk away with no explanation at all. I think the people that quote are only paid if they get the job. He may have been getting the impression that he wasn't going to get the job so just walk away very unprofessional, very rude and if you have that conversation at the start of the job, even before you get a quote, run fast and run far and stay as far away from them as you can because you will have problems guaranteed. I would not recommend this company to anyone. From day 1 this company did a horrible job. From the layout, to ordering of materials, to demo and install, I would give this company negative 5 star on how poor they did. They did not order all the material. They completely missed the island when it was clearly visible on the beginning of the kitchen remodel. They removed old cabinets and installed new cabinets on the existing floor that had to be tore up and new floor installed. When the flooring was finally demo out there was mold under the sink. So they installed new cabinets on old floor with mold growing under it. So now we still have mold under the new cabinets. The new tile floor had to be cut around the new cabinets and it made the flooring harder to install. Then they did not do any of the electric but still tried to charge us for it. They did not pull any permits when clearly by law there has to be a permit when there's any modification to plumbing, electric, HVAC, wall removal, and so on. Do not use this company ever. I would give them a zero but the system won't let me. We hired them to remodel two bathrooms and it took them FOUR months. The original crew they sent to my house had never worked for Midtown before, but they allowed them to work, unchecked, for two weeks. After they called in sick for the 3rd time in two weeks, our project manager finally came over and determined the work was not up to par. He fired them and had to rip everything down to studs. The second contractor was great and the only positive thing I can say about the experience is that I now have a great contractor that I will hire directly and manage the project myself as our "project manager" was a joke! And they WILL pressure you to pay before you're completely satisfied. They cashed our check over two weeks ago and have not responded to my husband's request for them to repair a small hole in the bathroom wall. I got a call from their "brand reputation manager" and expressed my frustration with the project and the fact that there's still a hole in the wall. He apologized profusely and assured me he would escalate my concerns to upper management and the production department. That was on February 10th. The young man who gave me a spiel at my door said that Midtown Home Improvements was Rated #1 in the State. I stopped him right there and asked him by whose measure? He couldn't identify the source... and then the conversation went downhill from there. I asked if they replaced storm windows and he said yes and then kept talking about replacement vinyl windows. They kept trying to pressure us into signing paperwork for them to install a $40k white vinyl fence in our average sized backyard. My deck had dropped six inches or more was uneven, the wood was decaying and the stairs were wobbley. I contacted Midtown Home Improvements for a bid. My salesman was Blake Hartin. Blake was very professional, personable, knowledgeable and he walked me through various decking configurations and pricing with out being pushy. I was impressed with Midtown Home Improvements Legacy of being in business. I chose the Zuri pecan legacy decking system, with white hand railings and black spindles for my deck and stairs. Blake detailed the construction process with me. Once the construction started, Dylan and his Crew were amazing. Dylan kept me informed of the process, we talked through a few building issues that were resolved. The Crew at the end of every day cleaned up my drive way and surrounding deck area leaving it free of debris. I made a slight adjustment in the over all design. Blake my salesman was able to give me credit for materials not used which I greatly appreciated. I love my deck, railing and stairs The railing and stairs were capped off with white Led lights that look beautiful at night and provides a wonderful ambiance to my deck. I would highly recommend Midtown Home Improvements. They were a little pricey, but the workmanship and materials were well worth it!!!!! Beware of Midtown Home Improvement. We purchased a new fence for our backyard. Our salesperson was an unprofessional joke. He made mistake after mistake which cost me more money. The salesperson measured our riding mower and said we would need a 5 ft gate. We ordered two, one in the front side and one in the very back of the yard. The salesperson put two 5ft gates in our contract but we got two 4ft gates which our mower would not fit through. The salesperson said that the 5 ft gate would have to be made and the company would not warrant the gate due to 'excessive problems'. I said did you put a faulty product in our contract? No reply. He said he can do two 3ft gates that lock in the middle. I said whatever you have to do to make this right. Then he told me that he would text me over the change order and to sign it and send it back. I said I would sign but I will not pay another dine for his mistake. Crickets! He called me back the next day and said that his boss said they would do the two 5 ft gates but unfortunately cannot warrant it. I told him I didn't want a faulty product. I told him to get the price for the two 3ft gates and while he's doing that I would call my lawyer and process it with him. Thirty minutes later I got a call from the salesperson's boss stating they will give us the two 3 ft gates. I had to threaten a lawyer to get their mistake fixed. Super pushy sales including their door-to-door salesman, phone operator, and the project manager (Brandon Boyd). The door-to-door salesman kept pressing for my personal information (name, phone number, etc.) despite my attempt to tell him that I will voluntarily call them at a later date. But he said he'll give me a discount if I give him the information, so I did (although he just wrote 15% off on a piece of paper and handed it to me). The phone operator who randomly called me was also very pushy about making an appointment despite the fact that I said I'll contact them when I had a more solid idea. But I told him that they could come the next day because they were going around houses in my area anyways, and because he insisted that I make an appointment for the following day. The project manager (Brandon Boyd) came today on November 10th and although he was very polite and showed me some sample photos and ideas, his demeanor sharply degraded from there when I told him that I would think about his offer and give him a call back. He started getting aggressive and hostile, saying that he's paid on commission and that he has a family to feed, and that he should be entitled to sit down with me in my kitchen and go through a detailed analysis of what they had to offer. I've never seen such a pushy marketing/sales tactic, and it was just unprofessional and downright aggressive on their part. Brandon seemed very upset and angry that I wasn't going to give him the business right then and there. Even the door-to-door salesman looked very depressed going door to door in a down-pouring rain. RUN! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH MIDTOWN! Midtown's sales representatives are liars. The owner Rob Winchester has ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ETIQUETTE! We hired them for an entire kitchen remodel that started in September 2022. The salesman Mike Giannini, wrote the type of cabinets we wanted down however once they were installed we realized that half were what we ordered and the other half was not. All of the cabinets should have been the same. The salesman, Mike did a change order without our knowledge, we only found out because the contractor showed us and said yeah I noticed it didn't have your signatures. Our contractor modified the wrong cabinets to make them match exactly to the ones we ordered. The countertops that are allotted in Midtown's contracts do not look at all up to date when you go to the warehouse to pick your slab. We found a beautiful countertop there however, we had to pay an additional $2250. Mike assured us that the Midtown's section was nice and up to date...NOT! Their section looked like old outdated apart countertops. The sales lady at the warehouse said "yeah...Midtown misleads a lot of customers like that" The project took about 2months to complete because our contractor had to keep contacting Midtown to fix things that were delivered wrong or communicated wrong or just simply NOT COMMUNICATED AT ALL! MIDTOWN NEVER CAME TO REMOVE THE OLD KITCHEN CABINETS, COUNTERTOPS, ETC. that were taken out of the kitchen, we had it removed ourselves after it set for about 5wks consuming the entire garage. Midtown finally showed up one month after our kitchen project was finished to get some extra debris left from the completion. Midtown NEVER checked on the progress, quality, or satisfaction of the job. Thank God we had a decent INDEPENDENT contractor (not an employee of Midtown) he really advocated to make things right for us. I DON'T SEE THIS COMPANY LASTING MUCH LONGER...They had an entire staff turnover 4 times in the 7months we were waiting for our project to begin. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Great service and quick installation for one sliding door and window. One guy installed it all on his own. The glass in the window and door have really good heat barrier which really helps when the sun in heating on it all day. The owner that used to run this company was awesome but since his son has taken over the company has gone way down in their quality of work and just overall trustworthiness in the home remodeling business. First off, no mask. Regardless of your personal belief, from a business POV during this time, it's unprofessional. We have had multiple bids for projects around our home, everyone has worn masks or gloves while giving their sales pitch, except for our sales rep. Incredibly high pressure sales tactics. I understand this is how they do business and get sales but yikes. My biggest complaint is the constant criticism from the sales rep. We wanted new counter tops, sink, and a tile backsplash, and asked for a quote for what WE wanted, but what we wanted was "a bad investment, why would you want something like that, your resell value will be awful, no one will want to buy this house". Quite a negative attitude towards anything other than granite even though their website and sales rep over the phone stated otherwise. So instead of a quote for what we want they gave us a quote for what 99% of their customers want. We should have stopped it but wanted to be courteous and listen to the pitch for a quote of at least something. Almost identical experiences to everyone else, give us x price, super deal today only drops in "x" grand but only if we leave a 5 star review (on Google), sign in yard, and pictures. Which is why you see a vastly different rating Google vs yelp. Talked about how great their 30 year company was, Constantly made remarks about us being too young to know what he was talking about. "do you know what the yellow pages are?" Come on. And similarly to everyone else, once my wife mentioned she wasn't sold on granite, huff puff well I guess I won't be coming back. Acted very cold. Constantly talked about how what we wanted was bad investment and just extremely negative. We honestly lost interest the second he mentioned how awful our idea was, and it got worse when we didn't sign right then and there. As he walked out talked about how expensive and difficult it would be to find someone to do what we wanted. Definitely do not recommend them at all for quotes or anything. After getting some insane quotes to replace the back door on my 1920's house from the recommend door contractors around, I reached out to Midtown. They were able to come out quickly and give me a quote. They even gave me an evening appointment which I appreciated. Their quote was reasonable, and I was sold when they told me if any "surprises" were found during install, they would address them at no cost to me. If you have an old house, you understand how those surprises pop up! They kept me well informed throughout the process, with emails when my door had been order, delivered, and when installation was schedule. The installer was fantastic. He had to custom fabricate quite a bit due to the very large jam opening of the door. Install was completed in a day, and it looks awesome! It's been over a year since the door was installed, and I've had zero issues. I've added before and after pictures here, the difference is even better in person! read more
