He is a knowledgeable, patient, kind and compassionate Doctor. A great internist. I can depend on him and his team. Everyone is always professional, courteous and efficient. They make you feel like a special patient, rather than a number. It is a very personal practice with the priority of kindness and care, which sets it aside from the rest. Medical care: I saw Dr. Duarte for foot pain. First time i saw him, he was very distracted and answered his personal phone. Then, he sent me for an MRI. When I went back the second time to review the MRI results, he was over an hour late to our appointment and said "yeah I have other patients". Upon glimpsing over the MRI, he said "you have dead bone in your big toe". He advised me to stop running, to stop wearing high heels and stop doing anything that caused me pain etc. and offered to go over shoes I wear with me to ensure comfort. When I asked for physical therapy to regain movement in my toe, he said "I don't prescribe that when the bone has atrophied like that". At 32 years old, limiting me in this way led me to get a second opinion. The second doctor identified the issue and many months later, I'm doing PT to address it. I have since regained mobility in my big toe and can enjoy sports again. Approval for an MRI: I called 4 times so someone would get back to me and left multiple voicemails when following the right IVR process. I eventually selected a different number, got to a person who said "oh we never check that voicemail". Billing: of course, several months after I saw Dr. Duarte, I find out they didn't bill my insurance correctly so I "owed" a $400+ bill. All in all, with the exception of one person who cared about the billing issue, I wouldn't recommend any aspect of this practice and definitely not the doctor who showed such indifference to his patient's problem.

Dr. Guillermo Duarte called me back before office hours and saw me later that same day! After the exam, he anticipated my needs by authorizing his staff to give me letters: one for my employer stating I needed to wfh and one for my gym so I could freeze my membership. He also gave me a referral for PT, and my prescription was promptly sent to my pharmacy. My stress and anxiety were greatly reduced after getting a diagnosis. My situation could have been a whole lot worse if I had to move around, possibly falling and injuring myself further. Thank you, Dr. Duarte! I have seen Dr. Duarte and others here before. It's usually easy to get an appointment. The wait time in their modern, pleasant office is usually minimal. They have an X-ray on the premises operated by Mike, who is friendly and professional. The lady at the front desk (who was in training) was sweet and helpful and prepared all my documents for me. She asked whether my pharmacy had changed, and it had. I am really grateful they were able to help me again.

I went to this office for a nail problem I was having…read more I scheduled the appointment via Zocdoc which was smooth. The staff was friendly. Although I had to fill the check-in forms again because apparently they don't use the ones from Zocdoc which was kind of annoying but yeah ok whatever, I filled them. The doctor was very nice too, she explained everything she was doing clearly. So now you are curious why one star? It's because I had to pay $200 although I have insurance and no one confirmed this with me beforehand. They took samples from my nail and said that there is going to be a culture and also pathology done on the samples which I had no idea what they were so I said ok. Usually when I go a dentist or any other doctor they confirm the price with me, at least they provide an estimate of what I am going to pay. Your copayment all depends on the treatment codes they use when submitting your claim and apparently this office likes to start with the highest paying ones, which is kind of icky. I didn't like this approach, it should all be about honesty to your patients. Since people have insurance you can't use this expensive treatment codes without confirming with your patients. Now you lost one patient. My advice, don't go here. If you do, confirm what your copay is going to be after all the procedures. If they can't give you an estimate then leave because they should be able to tell.

Then the office tries to push a specialty pharmacy - that tries to sell you brand medicines - vs. generic (and I am not talking about unusual drugs - as I have been a nurse for 45 years). he has no "bedside" manner - is not likeable - and showed no interest in me or my problem. It was horrendous and a huge embarrassment - I could not even cover the spots up with makeup. The prints lasted on my face as bright red for 2 months and it took 8 months for the coloring to fade. Dr. Gruen had written two prescriptions for me and mentioned a referral to another physician. I had to ask for all three at the front desk where the staff seemed reluctant to go to any extra effort. One of the prescriptions was to be called in at the pharmacy near my home; this never happened. In addition, I learned belatedly that Dr. Gruen works at more than one practice. When I called what I thought was the Upper East Side office I was told they had no record of me or my appointment--and did not explain that I might have reached the wrong location. Finally, I was billed for a sum that was not covered by my insurance, but instead of calling me to inform me that it was overdue, the practice charged my credit card directly. (Apparently permission for them to do this is in the "fine print" form that you sign when you come in for your first appointment.)

I came in for the removal of some skin tags around and on my neck, and it was so quick and painless, I didn't even notice he was doing anything. I haven't had any procedures with his wife, but from what I've read in the other reviews it seems like she might be even nicer than him (not sure how that's possible) and equally skilled. In the future I know if I need to come back for anything Im good to go with either of them Beyond that, the office is very nice and elegant, made me feel comfortable and at ease. I don't know how to say this without sounding superficial, but there is always something refreshing to me when I walk into a Dr or Dentist's office and I see modern and/or new equipment and technology, I felt that at the Goldenberg's space. The lady working the front desk was friendly and everything was so quick and easy. I was In and out in probably less than 45 minutes. Glad I found them and I would highly recommend for all your Dermo needs. An added bonus is that you can go shopping in the area after your appointment, some of my favorite fragrance stores are in the area.
