Spoke to the owner and found out that this is their second location. The first one is in Danbury. I didn't see any sandwiches when we went. It had a big assortment of baked goods such as breads, quiche, muffins, etc. the owner mentioned the breads are baked on premise but the pastries are baked and delivered from their Danbury store. We had the French cream donut and the chocolate almond croissant. Let me tell you, do not leave without trying the the donut. The cream was like putting a perfectly sweetened cloud into your mouth. They were just putting over a dozen into the display and within 15 minutes while we were there enjoying our pastries, all but one was left. The croissant was also perfectly crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside. I would call to see check if they sell sandwiches. Other reviewers may have confused the New Milford store with the one in Danbury. I did not see any sandwiches for sale when I was there and the storefront says OV Organic Bakery. All in all, definitely worth a visit and will be back! read more

I don't know how this place reopened... the food and coffee was not good before and i thought since they reopened they may have improved but i tried getting a latte today and i had to throw it away. The milk was spoiled so there were chunks in my drink as well as coffee grounds. It tasted sour and also the espresso was not good quality and tasted burnt and overall was just a terrible latte. I stopped in to see what goodies I could find. Wow, what beautiful pastry! I ended up getting a blueberry scone and a French cream filled doughnut. The scone was amazing! ETA : I've been asked when I last stopped by OC Kitchen. It was in October, when I was visiting the area. A friend of mine just sent me an article from the NM Spectrum (local paper) that OC Kitchen has been cited for PRIORITY ITEM VIOLATIONS by the Health Dept between Oct 30 and Nov 25 2024. I'm DEFINATELY not going back now. *shudder* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been to this place several times over the years and it's gone progressively downhill. This last time was really just .. the worst it has gone from being well lit and welcoming to just dirty. I was there a few months ago and there were FLIES everywhere. the woman behind the counter didnt have her hair tied back, while she was not actually MAKING the food she was getting pastries. I almost walked out and after tasting the sandwich (which took forever)... I should have. I saw an article in the newspaper a month ago about a good restaurant that was opening in my area. It wasn't till I was walking with a friend and he recommended it. I decided to check it out, and today was the day. I had no idea I'd be posting a review so I didn't take pictures of the interior of the exterior. And to be honest I rode my motorcycle there to pick up the food and it was a 10 minute ride back home. I just have to say the sandwich was really really good. We've been to both locations and prefer the New Milford store, especially when the weather is nice. Outdoor seating is lovely and Railroad St is such a great downtown placating. We've been enjoying Organic Kitchen's food for a while now. It's pretty consistent and delicious. read more

Food is delicious and creative. I had the naked tuna sandwich--a lovely balance of tuna, onion, Kalamata olives and dried cranberries. Instead of Mayo, avocado was used instead. Bread had the right chew and the right serving size, that is a good ratio of bread to filling. The sandwich was enough for two, if the two people also shared a soup or one of their pastries. My husband had tomato soup and grilled cheese with tomato soup. The tomato soup was outstanding and a twist on the standard recipe. There was a sweetness reminiscent of roasted red peppers, although there were none in the soup. There might have been a tough of red pepper flakes, too. The eat in experience is greatly diminished by the lack of decor/decoration. Nevertheless, I'd eat here again in a heart beat. read more

Yummy pastries and breakfast items, but often too sweet. The main problem here is the SERVICE. Unfriendly, chilly vibes from the counter help every time that we have visited this location. In addition, we never feel like staying--the environment is not very welcoming there. The coffee is not very good and often not hot. And how about throwing a couple of napkins in a bag when I'm buying sticky pastries? We are never given any napkins in our bag, and there are never any to be found near the counter or the door on the way out. The place has so much potential, but it fails to meet it. read more

I typically wait until I've been to a place more than once before writing a review, to know what the average experience is like. I've been here a number of times now, and while I will share some praises, it is becoming increasingly difficult to look past the customer experience. I know I'm not alone in this, as I have been there while a handful of other customers have been experiencing issues, mainly long waiting times and lack of communication. The last time I was in store waiting for a sandwich, others had been waiting for quite some time (and one had definitely ordered ahead). Only one person was in the back making sandwiches, while two employees were standing in the front...standing...with nothing to do, while customers waited and had no communication about the status of their orders. We were there for at least 15 minutes, and they were all there before us. Someone finally went up and asked if she could at least have the drink she ordered while she waited - they asked for her order again and then made the wrong thing. After about 10-15 minutes, one of the employees from the front finally went to the back to help make the sandwiches. This isn't a unique experience. The first time we went and ordered sandwiches, we waited for ages only to discover our food was discreetly waiting on the back counter and no one ever mentioned it was ready, including the two staff members we placed our order with, who were just standing at the front counter looking around. Most recently I ordered tea, a cup of tea with oat milk, and it took four attempts to settle on a drinkable cup. The batch of cups seem to have a serious leaking issue, and unfortunately I can't seem to drink hot tea out of a plastic cup with a straw. I'll work on it. I have been to the Danbury location as well, and with only one person working, several basic hot drinks took at least 10 minutes...I didn't order any food that visit because the cases and trays looked pretty dirty, though I've never thought that about the New Milford location which typically looks very presentable. Now, on the plus, and why I keep coming back to this place despite my elevated blood pressure, the food is really tasty. I'm having a minor love affair with the French cream donut, and my husband is totally on board. For me it hits the perfect spot, the cream is fluffy but with substance, just sweet enough, and the donut has a hint of lemon (I think) that elevates the whole experience. I've also been known to dabble with the apple almond tart and have no complaints. The Turkey Cobb sandwich tastes fresh and is satisfying, even on one of their bad days. So yeah, I keep coming back for good food and gosh, I really wish that donut weren't so good...or that they'd just iron out the service issues! Then this review would be 5 stars and a million more. Just no. For $30 we ordered 2 lunches. The Mediterranean sandwich my husband ordered he said was ok, he ate it because he was starving. I got the salmon bowl. It was like everything I had leftover in my fridge thrown into a container - some of it was hot, some of it was cold and no flavor. Salmon was definitely microwaved, they had microwaves going strong in this place...very disappointing and sorry, but eating out costs too much these days to be absolutely terrible. read more

I went with my husband on a Sunday around 10:30. No customers. He was served a bacon egg and cheese croissant previously made and displayed in the case and was asked if he wanted it warmed. Really? I asked for a plain butter croissant and was given it cold in a bag, although we were asked if we were staying. I haven't tried the French donut, which I bought for later. I ordered a chai tea latte, and was confused that it wasn't chai tea. When I asked what tea was used, it was earl grey and green tea. The one woman at the counter explained to the other what should've been in it, but I just asked for a caramel macchiato instead. We sat and ate our meal, and when finished I brought the one plate and napkins to the counter instead of leaving it on the table. She called me over back to the counter and showed me a garbage hole at the small coffee station and told me to through my own garbage away. There was no sign saying anything about placing dirty plates, so how would a customer know? I thought I was being nice by not leaving my table dirty. Service was terrible.
