Offering samples and suggestions to make sure everyone received something they would enjoy. When I told her I liked bourbon and not beer, she brought out a bottle of Woodford Reserve and never once told me I just had to try one of their beers because it would most certainly be the one to convert me to a beer drinker! I can't tell you how much I appreciate that and wish more breweries would be like that. But back to the beer, the rest of the family enjoyed the selection and all said they would go back. Stopped in on Saturday around 7:00 pm for National IPA Day. As we were sitting there, a ton of people were arriving. Adults AND children. That's when we noticed there was a party in the back room AND one forming in the front area, near the wagyu cooler. The SOLE BARTENDER then proceeded to get SLAMMED. So I asked for a to-go order of the Hakuna MAWtata. To which I was told there were none and I'd have to wait a while for the bartender to make it. I really don't understand why they had ONE bartender on a Saturday evening, especially when people clearly booked parties tonight. Couple that with about 8 children standing at the front door while people were coming and going. I really don't understand what's going on. It's a bar, not a restaurant, and not a kids play area. We visit every year and I've been in this place many times. But I probably won't be going back, especially on a weekend!! read more

Checked out this brewery in East Moline. It shares a building with Jennie's Boxcar, so if you need food order from there. Midwest Ale Works takes care of your beer needs, and there's quite a variety. Has pretty good prices on pints. There's fruity ones and more traditional hoppy styles. A lot of beers to choose from. It's about $7 a pint. That's not bad for a local craft brewery like this. A few of these are fruity. This is a good place if you like sours. I liked the name of the Fuster Cluck. This is a blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry sour. All three berries. They use over 100 pounds of berries when brewing it. As for the food, you can order it from next door. There's Mexican food such as chips and tacos. Has lots of great beers. It has a variety of interesting flavors. Those wanting food can order it from the restaurant in the same building or from one of the nearby other places or wherever. read more

Love this brewery! Bright & open tasting room with lots of light. Nice seating area outside. The staff was amazing, beers are great with lots to choose from, 19 on tap as I sit here. The owners are very nice and accommodating and like to interact with customers making sure they are satisfied. They have a couple TVs with sports on but avoid the dated sports bar vibe while still providing the ability to watch your team. Def come check this place out!!!!! read more

As I've written before: new breweries coming to the saturated Quad Cities beer market have to bring their A-game. Midwest Ale Works has done that. We visited on a Thursday night and ordered food from Jennie's Boxcar next door (that's a must). While MAW doesn't have flights per se, they have 2 ounce pours. I tried the Honey Kolsch, Holiday Spiced Ale, Scottish Wee Heavy, and Smoked Porter. They were all really excellent in body, taste, and finish, but my favorites were the Spiced Ale and Honey Kolsch. Plenty of seating, including tables for larger groups, bar seating, and high tops. There's free popcorn and water for palate cleansing, making this an honest brewery. Hoping that they post their IBUs next time I visit. read more

The beer is good, but that's about it. The outdoor patio is nicely landscaped, but chairs & tables are a joke. I've never sat in such flimsy & small chairs before. Good list of beers, most a tad eclectic for my taste - I guess Im a beer traditionalist but others seemed to really enjoy some of the more zany beers; however I did try the stout and the IPA, and both were tasty. The conversion of the old factory was quite interesting. Sat outside with my dog, only issue there is there seems to be no umbrellas, which on a scorching day (which it was), some shade would have been nice given all the COVID restrictions. Great new bar with an awesome selection of craft beers!! Alicia was a great bartender with a dearth of knowledge. All the staff was extremely friendly. We have come down to Midwest Ale Works 3 times since it opened. What a cool thing they have going on here ! The old building has been restored beautifully and is something to see all on its own. Was in this past week for the first time and the place looked really great. They have basically done the urban renewal with an old abandoned factory. I was disappointed they weren't brewing their own beer yet which is why I went out of my way to go there, but the beer selection they had was surprisingly excellent. Several beers from three Floyd's and several other local brewery beers. Our bartender was hilarious and really seemed to know craft beer, I think his name was Jeff? I also met one of the owners who I was told was the brewer. He was nice. There was a food truck there with excellent bbq when I stopped by and that was delicious. While there I noticed a new restaurant was being built there. This place is worth the stop for sure, especially if you are staying at the Hyatt just down the street. read more

Definitely worth the ride out to East Moline for this destination brewery! They are perfecting their craft beers and have a great selection of others brews too, not to mention some decent whiskeys! One of the bartenders, Josh, really knows his beers (probably from a lifetime of drinking) and he will help steer you to the best beer of your choice! The adjacent Mexican place has the best tacos in town, hands down! MAW also has a huge patio which is the perfect place to chill after a bike ride out to this brewery.
