I like MAW. The beer is good. Love the location but the bartender either hates customers or her job.

We visited on a Thursday night and ordered food from Jennie's Boxcar next door (that's a must).

Great staff, good beers. Located off the main thoroughfare, dedicated parking lot available. Indoor…read moreand outdoor seating, darts, and shuffleboard available. A good variety of brewed beer available, plus wines, seltzers, ciders, and cocktails. Something for everyone. Plus you can order from Central Standard next door, and they will deliver to your table. Staff is super friendly and accommodating.

The dog days of summer can be so delicious…read more Driving and exploring all morning and afternoon lead us to needing some food and beer to refresh and recharge our batteries. Emily wanted to check out Five Cities based on their logo containing a dog and liking most of their beer offerings. We dropped in around 1pm to a mostly empty place as there was only one other table. The bartender was beyond friendly and helped us at every step of the way. We ordered our drinks at the bar and took them to a table where we could be alone. Emily started with the Bikini Bottom and I got the Here Kitty Kitty Kitty. Emily's drink came in a pineapple glass and was very strong on the pineapple flavor. Here Kitty Kitty Kitty was just about perfect for an IPA. We ordered a second drink with our food. I stuck with the Kitty and Emily switched to the Crush Tangerine. Next door is Central Standard Craft Burgers & Beer. As we were walking in, I jokingly said it would be funny if the food we order here came from next door. Sure enough, that is exactly what happens. Emily got The Standard Club with coleslaw, and I got the Fire & Smoke burger. I'd say within 10 minutes of our bartender taking our order (which we had to do at the bar), our food was in front of us in these neat little boxes. Once you crack the sticker, heaven is waiting for you inside. My burger came with lightly battered french fries. This style is my favorite, by far. Both Emily and I were in heaven eating our delicious food. From the first bite to the last fry was some of the best food I've had in months, maybe all year. Pair it with the beer and we didn't want to leave. I'd say I would like to try out Central Standard itself and see if the experience is the same there. All in all, we had a blast at Five Cities Brewing. I got a shirt and some (free at the time) stickers in their merch corner. Emily got a koozie and some stickers herself. The shirt I got was a medium and ended up running on the smaller/athletic side. If I can lose about 15 pounds, you'll get to see the fun shirt pop up in a future review as it has a funny saying on the back.

Friendly waitress (Hunter K) helped answer any questions we had and she frequently checked in on us…read moreto make sure we were having a good experience. I had the Carolina Salad (without tomatoes and cucumbers) with a honey mustard dressing. The crispy onions really weren't crispy so I missed having that textural aspect to an otherwise good salad. Good beer (Confluence Des Moines IPA) - it was tasty with enough hops for my preference in an IPA. My husband who had the Philly Cheesecake also enjoyed a Ciderboys hard cider which was crisp and had a little sweetness which he preferred. He ordered a 2nd one! Loved the patio because we had our dog with us and we easily settled in to the scene to have our food & beverage while visiting with my oldest sister and her husband. We all would rate TTW 4+stars.

Owner trumps customers!…read more Very disappointing experience. We were told seating was first come, first serve, yet when we arrived multiple tables and seats were suddenly "reserved" for the owner with no reserved signs anywhere. We were even asked to get off the bag boards because the owner wanted them. To make matters worse, a lady in front of us was basically turned away after asking about seating because staff said it was a "full house" and tables were reserved -- completely contradicting what people are told when they call. Food was okay, drinks were average at best, but the customer service and treatment of paying guests ruined the experience. Definitely felt like regular customers came second to the owner and their friends. Update: owner grabbed another set of bags. Up 1star now
