Very slow wait times here even though I had an appointment. I have waited around 20 minutes each time, and when I'm brought back it's another 30 minutes for the doctor. I wouldn't consider this "urgent" I had to schedule an appointment for a follow up which is very strange. I don't get why they couldn't call. Would not recommend if you want to be in and out quickly. Very disrespectful of my time and money, to only recommend I see a dermatologist. A phone call takes 30 seconds also. This is the most ridiculous place. If you look at the google reviews, there are too many complains how they charge customer with ridiculous surprising bill is. My wife needed a Covid test, and cvs charges around $70. When we asked, this place said they will have the insurance cover the Covid test. So we went there with a long journey, my wife was asked to have a few minutes exam of blood pressure measurement. And we got additional charge of $90 dollars 1 month later as urgent care, which is not covered by the insurance. So this is something we didn't ask, we didn't want, they didn't tell, and it just showed up on the bill. We went there because we thought it was cheaper, but they charged more for something else. I went there because I have a severe cough with phlegm, myscous from my nose, fatigue, and body aches. I was given prescriptions. I told them what and where I work, and I need a note because they are not going to allow me to work like this. I was told NO because I did not have a fever Went to work the next day, and I was told to go back home. The receptionist was not the most friendliest nor was the practioner I had seen. The next day, I was able to get into my primary care (I was at Midwest on a Sunday), I was diagnosed with a bad case of bronchitis and told NOT to go to work. In the past, I would go to Midwest if I could not get into Primary Care. I will not use Midwest again and have told co-workers, family, and friends if you need Urgent Care to find another place. read more

I received really excellent care at Midwest Express Clinic. The reception staff was great, and the medical assistant and doctor were patient and attentive. However, I, unfortunately, can't recommend this clinic for anyone who is currently low-income. I'm currently experiencing homelessness and on Medicaid. Before going to Midwest Express Clinic to receive care I checked their website to see if they accept Medicaid, and it said that they do. When I gave my Medicaid card to the receptionist there was no problem. A few weeks after being treated, though, I received a bill for over $400. The bill indicated that Medicaid had not paid for any of my treatment. Receiving an unexpected large bill is a hardship for me right now. It will take me some time to be able to pay off the bill, and I'm hoping that it does not get sent to collections before I'm able to pay it off. Also, be aware that when you go to receive care at Midwest Express Clinic they will make you put a card on file in order to receive care. In a lucky coincidence, I had to cancel my debit card and get a new one due to a fraudulent charge on my account, so they were not able to automatically charge my debit card for the $400. If you can't afford to have the full cost of your care automatically taken out of your checking account, especially if your insurance ends up not covering things you expected to be covered, I recommend you go elsewhere. It's a shame, because the medical care really was good, and I don't know if there are any urgent/immediate cares that take Medicaid in Chicago. read more

Someone needs to look into this place. My wife made an appointment for a 3 day migraine, after they administer the injection they come back in and "we read the wrong dosage, I was moving to fast... so we need to do it again". An hour later the Doctor calls and ---wait for it--- "we injected her with the wrong medication... " TWICE -- something that will not help or treat the migraine; they said a steroid - WAS IT? I have SOPs at work, we have processes and procedures to follow - Do they? You have doctors there ..get a surgeon to remove your heads from your butts- you could have seriously hurt my wife, fix your processes - before you hurt someone or worse. Update- clinic wrote a prescription so my wife can get some relief; sent her name and MY date of birth to the pharmacy -- HOW? And wait for it--- $288... vs our $50 co-pay - just wow... Management must be very worried or very relieved.. I say this of course with the "care" they are administering, reviews this place is consistently receiving they are on a clear path and with Barnum and Bailey's three ring circus now back in business they are either relived the staff will be able to get there old jobs back OR worried because the staff may not know.. and once they find out they will leave for there old jobs and will be forced to shutter. Either way let's hope they right their ship before they SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE. read more

I have been happy with the service from Midwest Express Clinic; however, my negative review is with the clinic's billing practices. I went to the clinic on 7/29 for an appointment. I gave my phone number, email, and left an HSA on file for any charges. 4 months later I get a bill for $200 with the statement date of 11/12. Less than a week later, I received a collection notice email from a debt collector. I live across the block from the clinic, and I did not receive a phone call or an email from the clinic itself that I had a statement. Additionally, I didn't receive any statements prior: we're in a pandemic - I'm not going anywhere. They allegedly sent 2, but I did not receive them. They also had my card on file, but did not charge it. When I called them about the charges in December, they said "they didn't have authorization to charge the card and I needed to sign a consent form". Why wasn't that given to me by the clinic? When I called Midwest Express regarding the collection notice, I asked about their policy/procedures. They said they send 3 letters and then send to a collection agency. In a world where you ask for me to book an appointment online, receive text message updates, virtually meet with a doctor over doxy, and have no problem collecting my information on an iPad when I enter, you've GOT to be kidding me that calling, texting, or emailing is NOT in your company's scope before sending a debt collector. I live across the street. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

BEWARE they will ruin your credit score. I had a balance of $19 and they never told me so instead of reaching out to me (they had my phone number and email) they went directly to collections. Go figure that one... EDIT: looks like this is common practice for them as there are more people with the exact same experience (see review from 12/29/2020)... Worst thing is that you don't know exactly what the total amount will come down to, and if they don't tell you via any reliable way, you might be in the hook for a big dent on your credit score. This was my second visit to the clinic for an emergency and they never submitted my prescription to the pharmacy. They claim they did and will resend it but the pharmacy had no record of it. Went in to get a test for a certain group of illnesses and the staff were efficient, non-judgmental and patient, all of which I appreciated a lot. My appointment went very fast and the physician I spoke with was clear and concise about my test results and how I'd be able to view them once they're sent out. After quickly coming down with a fever and tonsillitis the other night, I quickly searched for Covid tests available in my area. Midwest Express had lots of availability where I was able to quickly schedule and see same day. They were kind and considerate, and were thorough in both Strep and Covid tests. I really wish I had better experiences here, because it is a convenient location and they usually have same-day availability. However, I have literally never been seen within a reasonable amount of time-- they charge my card and then I typically have to wait 40-60 mins past my appointment time just to be seen by staff, and once they are in the room with me they seem to only have 2 mins that they can give me before they have to leave to see another patient, so my diagnosis/ care plan are typically half-assed anyway. I really wish this place were better run, and that the employees had more capacity to provide care to their patients. read more

Emailed and called with patient rep who confirmed they billed it incorrectly. They redid it and it's still wrong. Seriously the worst business model I've ever seen. This place is great! All the staff was so polite and kind, and I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to see someone. The nurse and doctor were both attentive and I felt as if they understood what my concerns were. I got my x-ray results back within a few hours, and was able to figure out what was wrong with my ankle! I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

DONT EVER STEP INTO THIS OFFICE. And no it does not even deserve 1 star... This business should be reported to the IDPH. could not name another business that has tried to profit from fraudulent billing services than this. Two Covid tests that they did not bill the insurance, knowing that it would be covered. First bill from October was received end of January. When I tried to call the billing company several times, they first told me they could not submit to insurance past 90 days (how convenient to let it sit around for 91 days and put that as patient responsibility). Unfortunately I had already gotten another Covid test beginning or Jan, and paid privately for it, before I knew what this clinic was all about. I spoke to the billing company countless times and I was assured that they would be submitting on my behalf. 2 months later, I got a notice from collection agency looking to collect for tests + blown up/bogus charges (helloo... $25 x 2 to get your results emailed to you?!) I am a health care provider myself and the way they run this business is corrupt and destructive to patients and their finances. No one should pay $600 for two Covid tests and have their credit messed with. read more

I do not recommend coming here unless you want to be charged over $250 without knowing. Before I went I called and looked online to make sure my insurance was accepted and it was it was. When I arrived the receptionist was pretty rude when I asked about my insurance again and if I needed to pay anything. Her response was no but you have to give me a card to put on file. Months later I am charged $150 through my credit card , another month later I'm charge another $100. Facility charges $366 for rapid Covid testing. They will not tell you when you're there, they instead send the bill after.

Midwest was able to get me in for a COVID test much sooner than any other clinic; and online registration was easy. Because I registered online, all I had to do was a quick check-in when I arrived. The waiting room was almost empty, so I felt really safe. The nurse who did my test was SO nice and very gentle. The test results came back quickly, within 3 days, and they gave them to me via a video call (even though they were negative!) I have another appointment today at a Midwest Express Clinic closer to home (the one I had at this Near West location was a couple months ago), and again, there were so many appointment times available. This place is like a hidden gem for COVID testing. Fast, easy, and staff is great. read more

Doctor Lewis is very concerned about my health, rather than just sending me off with a prescription that might not work, she really wants to get to the bottom of my health issues. WORST CLINIC EVER! It does not belong in West Loop. They charge you for tests they don't conduct. Make sure you ask for a receipt - because you'll spend weeks disputing new charges with your credit card company. Staff is grossly negligent, lack basic bed side manners, training and are liars. The nurse practitioner I worked with refused to listen to me and I was misdiagnosed. The nurse assistant didn't know how to draw blood and no one has ever had issues with my big veins. She stuck me and dug in my arm 3 times. First time she barely stuck the needle under my skin. 2nd time she left off the tourniquet, stuck the needle through my vein and the vacutainer tube was still attached from the first time, so obviously their was no suction to draw the blood. They told me to come back when an actual phlebotomist was available. At least 3 people including a patient advocate told me I would be getting a refund for tests that weren't conducted. It has been weeks and the clinic still has not refunded me. What a disaster of a place! Spare yourself. Go anywhere else but there. read more

To be completely honest, at first I thought this place wasn't so bad. My perspective changed when I asked for a simple doctors note stating that I was at the office to hand into my professor so I was able to get dismissed appropriately from class because my appointment took way longer then it should've. The lady I spoke with over the phone said she was unable to give me one because I saw a physician instead of a provider. I saw a provider, she came in and checked my ears, stomach and heart. Update: by the time Amelia wrote this response, she had already spoken to me, and the end result was one of her snotty employees calling me back - after two days of trying to get a refill for a mental health medication - to gleefully tell me I am no longer welcome at any of the Xpress locations due to the rude way that I spoke. Anyone that relies on antidepressants knows there is a severe affect when one stops taking medication. For Amelia to pretend like she hasn't already addressed this issue with me is reflective of my experience with Xpress - insincere. Apparently their staff's pride is more important than recognizing a patient in distress - and that's no refills folks, you have to pay $110 for one fill during a 30 second appointment. They caused a lot of distress and then post here with their PR nice words pretending like they don't remember the drama they just put me through over a simple refill. so watch your tone and keep your expectations low on this dishonest group. I went to this location for a COVID test. Positives include easy registration, very friendly staff, clean facility, quick process. I do warn everyone though about how they bill through insurance. There was no way to get your results without having a virtual visit with a provider (negative or positive). While the initial visit and labs were included on my insurance, the virtual visit for my results hit me with a $50 charge. This is very frustrating because this virtual visit was not necessary and I did not even want it. Just send me an email or text with my results and be done with it. I was forced to FaceTime with a provider for about 15 seconds just to get my results, then was hit with a bill. This seems to me like an easy way to get some additional cash. read more

I made Covid test appointment online and it says it takes blue cross blue shield insurance. So I waited for my turn for an hour and ppl who came after me were called before me. I was pissed and I asked the front desk girl and she told me to wait to be called. After 10mins, they called me n told me that they don't accept my insurance. I have been here many times in the last few years and the last experience was horrid! Had a terrible ear ache and thought while I was there I'd also get another Antibody test, as I had Covid just over three months ago. Finally got in, had my two young kids with me, and a "nurse practitioner" who might have just graduated last week, came in to take my blood for the antibody test. She couldn't do it, stabbed me, then gave up. Said she couldn't find a vein and asked if I had drank any water that day. Ummmm, I had just drank two enormous glasses before coming in. I also, have at least four vials of blood drawn yearly in my doctors lab. I have never had a problem in my 47 years. So she gives up, hands me a bottle of water and proceeds to leave me in the room with my two kids for at least 20 minutes. Then come walking in "nurse practitioner" number two. Not much better. She tries the other arm, took forever and she was taking to herself the whole time. She also had no clue and left me incredibly bruised and bright purple. Then she leaves and we wait another 15-20 before the "doctor" comes in to look at my ear. He spends about 2 minutes looking, was super condescending, and then tells me my ear is impacted with wax and the "nurse" will be back to flush my ear. Then after about 15 minutes nurse number two cones in, guessing she has never flushed anyone's ear in her life, and proceeds to not only spray my ear but down my shirt, and all over me then overfills the cup under my ear to the point it spills over all over me, the table and the floor. Absolutely disgusting. Then she tells me she got none of the wax out. My best guess is because she was spraying everything but inside my ear. So she proceeds to make me wait another 15 minutes to then have me lay on my side and put drops in my ear to soften the wax . Tells me to lay there for two minutes. 10 minutes later she comes back and then sprays my ear again, getting nothing. At least this round she didn't let the cup of ear juice overflow everywhere. Then we wait another 15 before the "doctor" comes back. He spends about three minutes trying to manually remove the wax and then totally gives up and tell me he'll write me a script and to come back for a follow up. I asked him if it was infected bc he was prescribing an antibiotic drop and he had no real answer. I asked him to try again and he refused and told me I could get a second opinion somewhere else when I told him I felt worse now then I did when I came in. Absolutely awful and complete incompetent staff. I got the absolute D team working on me. Scary that that can be called health care at all! read more

My visit was fine. When I went to pick up my prescription the Walgreens pharmacy across the street stated that the directions they received from the provider (Midwest) for prescription didn't make sense and they couldn't release it until the provider responded to their fax. I walked over to Midwest and explained this to them and they started their fax was down and they said they would call over and clarify. 3 hrs later I go back to the pharmacy and they stated that the provider still hadn't contacted them. At this time the Midwest is closed and it's been over 24hrs since my visit.. I'm still waiting for my prescription.. the communication between the two is absolutely absurd. read more

This place is a total scam. Do NOT go here. I went in for a Covid test and it took an hour even though I had an appointment - every other clinic I've been to for testing has been way more efficient. I provided insurance and was told I had a $50 co-pay, which seemed very high for a covid test (and with my old insurance I never had co-pays for covid tests). I asked for a receipt so that I could get reimbursed through my FSA. They simply printed a confirmation that my credit card would be charged. When I asked for an itemized receipt they said the only thing they could provide was a visit summary. My FSA vendor rejected that and said I needed to provide something that actually showed what I was charged for. I called the clinic who forwarded me to the billing department who then said it would take 7 to 10 business days to provide a billing statement. I never received the email, so I called back again and they told me the same thing. Eventually I got them to look at my account to see what the $50 was and they said I had actually overpaid and if I wanted a refund it would take 60-90 days. These guys are double charging patients and insurance and keeping the cash - do NOT give them your money!! read more
