While in-between jobs I went here to get my prescription renewed for high blood pressure--a prescription I've had for years. This required a physical (I'm required to have one once a year for the scrip) which they did but the OOP cost for a physical here is something like $170. When it came time to refill the scrip this week they denied the pharmacy and when I called they told me I have to come back in--every MONTH--to have a physical in order to get the refill. So, to get my $8 prescription monthly I would have to pay them $170/month for a physical. Not only that, I called on a Monday when I ran out and was originally told they'd handle it and call back if there was an issue. No call. No prescription. The day after that I called back and was told there wasn't a "provider" there yesterday and that's why it wasn't filled--but no apologies for not letting me know. But there was today, I was told and if there's an issue I'll get a call. Around 8PM (!!!) I get a call saying there's an issue and when I called back I got their answering service. Today I called back and was told that, no, I can't get a refill unless I come in for a physical. Here's the kicker: I am schedule for a physical IN A MONTH there--I only asked for a courtesy refill since I'll be there beginning of August. This was denied. They would not provide me with 30 days of essential medication unless I came in for a visit I'm having in 30 days anyway. Appalling. Not just the money thing but how they blew me off initially and just never called back. Stay away. read more

After many attempts to hear a response from Midwest Express Clinic, I have not heard back from any of the people I was instructed to contact to resolve billing issues. I have been informed by a collection agency that they will be reporting my bill to credit agencies, so unfortunately I now have to pay it, PLUS a "fees" amount that was tacked on. NEVER go to this place if you want a place with fair billing practices, who actually addresses your concerns. You can tell from multiple reviews of this place that deceptive billing is clearly a trademark of this place, even if you have great insurance. read more

I'll just say I miss the front office staff at MedSprings(Wicker Park) as they were more transparent and professional. The physicians were ok. I visited this location twice within the past two weeks and to echo what others have experienced, I feel like the current staff are complacent and care far more about billing insurance and collecting co-pays. I guess it's business at the end of the day although transparency and empathy can go a long way sometimes. Lastly, there's nothing 'express' about waiting 40 plus minutes for a Covid test. read more

I would give less than one star if I could. Please be ware of this place. My daughter, who is 17, was seen at Midwest Express Clinic (2868 N. Broadway) on 03/04/2022 for Covid testing. I had authorized only a Covid test, and the clinic called when my underage daughter was being seen and I mentioned that she is only to get a test and nothing else. When she came home, she told us that she filled out a form, a "nurse" examined her, administered a Covid test, and she left the clinic. She states that the entire experience lasted 5 minutes maximum. When I received the bill for $139.40 from Midwest Express Clinic, I noticed the following: 1. 99204 was the cpt code used: implying a mid-high level 4 initial office visit by a physician lasting from 45-56 minutes. 2. 99000 was billed for handling of a specimen 3. S9088 for services rendered in an urgent care center 4. She was charged for medicines administered during the visit. I only authorized a Covid test and I never authorized an office visit. Secondly, she states being in the clinic no longer than 5 minutes and it took her about 15 minutes from when she left the house and returned. Therefore, she was not seen from over 45 minutes. Thirdly, she stated that a doctor never saw her, so how could this level 4 visit be used? Fourthly, she states that she was not given any medicines and she swears that she never took any medicines while at the clinic. This was billed to my insurance company, MultiPlan, First Health Network. I called the clinic and explained all of this to the biller of the clinic and she told me that she would handle this. However, I got a revised bill to the same dollar amount, but this time the cpt code was not presented. Since my daughter visited this clinic, she has been suffering from headaches. In the phone call the person representing the clinic indicated that she was given a medicine in the clinic. My daughter denies this, so I am trying to figure out if her headaches are due to anything that the clinic did to her in that visit. I conclude that this bill was not erroneously sent. It was fraudulently sent. read more

I had a covid test done back in January. My insurance covered the test itself, but I was recently billed for the telehealth visit where they gave me my results. So basically, I'm on the hook to pay $85 just for them to take 30 seconds on a video call to tell me my results. Any other provider would just give you the results over the phone or online and not charge you. What a scam. read more

Lakeview community - thats a scam spot - the office visit is only $120 (what they say you at the reception) apparently only if you pay without insurance, I had a visit on 5/30/22 for a minor acne (1spot) on my back that was bothering me wanted for a doctor to see it before my beach vacation- the doctor said nothing has to be done, not even touched me - "you are good" and i left! they billed 249$ to my insurance - leaving me to pay $181 after deductions. I called and asked why did they bill twice to the insurance - no explanation. I also was firm to check cost upfront! Saying that - 1) no explanation of benefits was provided they just billed twice more called it "medical visit" 2) refused to revert it to self-pay and 3) were not offering an adjustment. The staff was spectacular!!! I slipped on some "black ice" yesterday and took a nasty fall. What I thought was a sprain, turned out to be a fracture. A colleague suggested an "Urgent Care" clinic. I've never been to one, but have heard some good and some not so good reviews from friends. While there, I had interactions with four employees. All four were very professional, knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend this Midwest Express Clinic. read more

I was a patient at Midwest express urgent care this past week. I am an older female and also physician. My condition is some thing that is different in older women and can be quite dangerous in that it initially is a subtle discomfort that is the sign of an infection that can be messed. My initial visit I found the clinic clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the outcome of the treatment of my condition relied on a urine culture. The culture was discontinued by the lab and my symptoms continued which included a low-grade fever. I called the clinic and was told that my symptoms had been treated. The lack of both concern and awareness are dangerous in healthcare. The average patient relies on awareness and concern in their healthcare provider. In my case those issues or less of a problem. I worry about anyone who seeks care at this location who does not have good awareness of their own needs. read more

I had a wonderful experience here today. I needed a Tdap vaccine and I was in and out in 15 minutes. As advised, I reserved a time online and did all the paperwork online before I arrived. The facility was exceptionally clean. The team was pleasant, answered all my questions, and the vaccine was virtually painless and was so quick. The nurse did a great job of distracting me (as I am not a fan of needles). I would definitely recommend visiting this clinic to anyone! read more

DO NOT GO FOR A FOLLOW UP IF YOU FEEL BETTER. The doctor will make it sound necessary but it is optional and you aren't charged for a no-show. If you go, you will be charged the same price AGAIN as your first visit. Their billing department is a total waste of time. Took me 3 months and 6+ phone calls until someone was finally able to submit a complaint. I went for a COVID test back in October, and the process was admittedly quick and easy, but a month or so later I got a bill for it. But COVID tests are free nation wide. Now, a few months later, they have reported me to a credit collection agency...for a COVID test??? DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE IN A THREE MONTH LONG DEBACLE WITH THE BILLING DEPARTMENT. I literally can't stress this enough. The doctors were nice everything was fine. My insurance got messed up so my claim was denied and I was sent the full bill. I called the billing department to fix my insurance and everything went through and I paid what was owed after insurance. A month or so later I get a letter in the mail saying I got sent to collections??? For a bill I already paid??? The patient portal gives you no access to what needs to be paid it only gives you an option to put a certain amount of money you want to pay. This gives me no insight on what I owe. So now I have numbers being thrown at me left and right. The insurance company has one amount owed, the billing department had another amount owed, and the collections agency has an amount??? Make it make sense. Worst part is the billing agency won't do their job and call my insurance, I have to be the middle man calling everyone back and forth. So yeah I would not recommend this clinic solely because the billing department doesn't know what they're doing. read more

Do not go here for COVID tests. They are doing full "office visits" for a simple COVID test, and then billing insurance for those (most likely in order to receive more insurance money). Total charges for a COVID test were $389....just go to Innovative Express if you need a test, as they are not doing these "office visits" when all you need is a COVID test. While the service was fine and the wait time wasn't too bad, a $400 bill was definitely not what I thought I was getting into (and yes, I know insurance covers the COVID test part still, but I had to pay for the "office visit" part because I have a high deductible plan and naturally that's the bulk of the bill). Please let patients know what they are getting into when getting a COVID test at this establishment, as you are advertising this service heavily. read more

This place is unprofessional and disrespectful of their patients' time! I used to go to this clinic when it was Medspring and now that I have been under both managements, I can confirm that I will no longer keep Midwest in mind when needing a clinic. I came in for a physical a week ago and was not immediately impressed with the friendliness of the staff. The lady at the front desk was nice enough and the nurse, I believe her name was Christina, was sweet as well. I also worked with Esme to get my vitals and an EKG. She seemed very bored to be there and seemed to do everything at her own pace. She even took a personal phone call while administering the EKG. No "excuse me," no "I'm sorry, do you mind if I take this?" Nothing. I was told that I needed to come back in a week in order to get my results so I scheduled a time. I was at the clinic for over an hour and a half just to get results. Hannah was at the front desk this time and she was extremely friendly with me and everyone else she spoke to (and that was a few people since I was waiting for 45 minutes). Before going to a room, she tried to charge me just like last week. I thought that was odd since I was just picking up results. She went back and asked and this was cleared up. When I was finally taken back, I was told that the doctor was just finishing up with someone else and that she would be in in a minute. Dr. Polumbo did not come in for another 30 minutes. When I asked what the wait was for she said she didn't know. She was just going in the order of patients. She said everything looked fine and she just needed to sign off. So I waited...and I waited...and I waited. I finally peeked out of my room to see what this wait was for. Esme then asked what I was doing and I asked what was taking so long so she went over to Dr. Polumbo and said they were just checking the results. I inquired since I was just told that they were fine and her response was "well, they're not," and did not give me any further details. I am just appalled by the unprofessionalism and disrespect that I have received at this clinic. As I was leaving, Esme said "we are short staffed and going through a pandemic. You could be a bit more respectful" before walking away and closing the door. It was as if she was trying to have a "drop the mic" moment. I understand that there is a pandemic. We are all feeling the stresses of it, but that does not give medical staff carte blanche to treat their patients with disrespect, a total lack of empathy, and with a cavalier attitude. The my experience with the doctor was 5 star however the front desk staff is HORRIBLE. I was treated here last week and had a normal complication with the antibiotic I was given. I called to inquire if my lab results were in so that I could schedule my follow up and not have to come in twice for treatment for the complication and to get my lab results. The front desk staff was incredibly rude and told me to call her back to see if they results were back because she was too busy to help me and that I could not be treated without coming in twice. So I have no way to see if my lab results are in without again encountering the extremely rude front desk staff and am continuing to suffer from a complication in the mean time. Every other doctors office is trying to minimize interactions during the COVID pandemic and this front desk lady is forcing increased interactions and not even letting a patient speak with the doctor.
