UPDATE: Reposting this review because after a few weeks, I am still dealing with this. I found out from my insurance that Midwest billed my telehealth results call as a FULL appointment and not COVID related, meaning that my insurance is denying to cover it. My insurance instructed me to call Midwest to request they re-bill the telehealth visit with the correct COVID tag. I have tried calling their billing department over 7 times and have had no luck getting connected or a call back. I called the clinic 3 separate times for assistance and 2 of the staff informed me that they would email the billing department and 'cc' me / to expect a call from the billing department within 24 hours. It has been over 5 days. I just got off the phone with Midwest again, saying they would reach out to the higher ups and to expect a call. Assuming I will again not receive a call, I am sitting on hold with the billing department for the 8th time. Oh, and did I mention this bill (and my husband's) goes to collections tomorrow? Seriously, do not go here. The care may be great, but save yourself the headaches, pricey/incorrect bills, and potential credit hits. 01/2021: I am posting this as an FYI for COVID testing, specifically in getting the results. The actual care we received was great - quick and very nice staff! But in getting your results, beware that they will bill your insurance for a full visit to read you your results for a 2 minute call. I've never had this with any COVID/test results in general, so I was shocked to get 4 bills in the mail for me and my husband. How can this clinic even offer Covd tests? The result time is outrageous. I am a week out with no results and now being told could take up to 14 days. What's the point of even doing it? Seriously the results are pointless after 2 weeks. And they are charging $200 per test. I'm telling them I will not allow my insurance to be charged. I have a friend who went somewhere else and did a test this past Monday and had results Thursday. I went last Friday and still waiting. This is not quality healthcare. Prescription never got sent to my pharmacy despite calling their office twice to confirm. Even had them change it to a further/different pharmacy because their open hours were later. Never materialized 3+ hours later. Should've just hand delivered the prescription myself. Imagine if this was a life threatening condition and I never got my medicine. Borderline malpractice. This is NOT the place to go unless you've literally got no other option and your next option is the emergency room. I had a sinus infection so I came in for an appointment. This is something I've done in the past with other urgent care providers and my typically billed amount is ~$50 for this service. It's a quick appointment, low draw on their resources, so that to me seems like a reasonable amount. Plus, when making the appointment over the phone, I'd asked how much it would be while on the phone making my appointment and was told, yeah, ~$50 sounds reasonable and you will get more info when you are there. Well, for this place the "negotiated" rate with my insurance (i.e., they've colluded with my insurance company so both places get to make $$$$$ off me) is a freaking ridiculous $150. Yep, you read that right. If I had met my deductible it wouldn't be so much and blah blah blah y'all are STILL CHARGING $150 for this as a starting amount! The 2 stars, as opposed to 1, is because the office staff themselves are friendly and I was seen quickly. Filling out paperwork and all that was not difficult. But Christ almighty they almost got a second appointment out of me for myocardial infarction, aka, heart attack. I am very lucky to have found MedSpring urgent center by accident. I just moved to Chicago and fell off my moving truck, and thought I broke my ankle. Im a male so a big baby as most men are, and everyone here made me feel at ease. Luis made my anxiety go from a 10, down to about a 2. THANK YOU Luis !! Then came Cally ! Sure wish she could be my full time physician. She is the best and I can't believe how well she took care of me !! Thank God only a bad sprain, but Jessica closed the deal, with all the information she gave me. Unfortunately, I have had to come here twice already in the past month for sick family members.....Both times I had a pleasant experience despite the circumstances. The first time.. we got there almost close to closing... and not once did we feel rushed or like we were annoying the heck out of them for getting there at the time we did.. I am just glad they were opened until 9 since most other Urgent Care Clinics close at 8pm. In fact, that was one of the reasons we ended up here precisely because of their longer evening hours. The place is very clean and free snacks which at least made it less painful for my little ones. Both of the Dr's and nurses that we saw were very nice and comforting - in fact they even f/u the next day to make sure we were doing better. That is waaay better service than my regular PCP and Pediatrician's office. Plus, the checking in process though tedious is quick and you are taken care of almost instantaneously. Regrettably, because of the way our healthcare system is so broken, yes - a visit here will be a lot more costly so that is the only drawback but as far as quality of healthcare goes and being respectful and compassionate being that we are there because of a semi-emergency, I really would recommend this place to anyone in need of urgent care. read more

Hi! I had my first covid test at Midwest Express on Broadway in Chicago. I was visibly emotionally distraught and panicked during appointment. Jessica was so calm, patient, and kind. I wish I could get her a gift card of thanks. She even asked if I was emotionally feeling better on call when she told me I was negative as she said she remembered how upset I was. Whether she wrote that in her notes or just remembered my face is was the type of kindness and professionalism the world needs more of. Can't tell you how great these guys are. Dr. Nguyen took care of me and he really rocks. He also tended to my toddler at the Wicker Park location, nearly 3 years ago when he split his chin open after a nasty fall off a playground swing. My son loved him so much, we even went back to visit Dr. Nguyen to say thank you (pronounced "Wen"). Everyone there made my son's traumatic incident as calm as it could be. And he has no visible scaring, thanks to the doc. My son is going to be so psyched when he sees the glove balloon that Dr. Nguyen blew up for me to take home to him tonight. Beyond this, the facilities are always new and immaculate looking and are well stocked with snacks, coffee, and beverages. And flat screen tv's and leather couches in the patient rooms. Very nice touch. If you aren't feeling well or have an emergency, this place is where you want to be. Couldn't really ask for anything more. read more

We brought our daughter to the Ashland location for an injured ankle because the family doctor had no near-term appointments. The initial visit was positive (hence two stars), but the several subsequent visits were much less so. Each person we spoke with seemed to have no idea what was going on, as if the information wasn't being recorded or shared. For one visit, we were asked to come in to get blood taken. We were told to set up a follow-up appointment three days later. Given the pandemic, I asked if we could have the follow-up over the phone, and they said no, following up in person is "the process" (presumably, in hindsight, so they could charge us again). At the follow-up appointment for the bloodwork, no one had any idea what was going on, they couldn't find the results, and they had nothing to tell us. We met with three different employees at this appointment, one of whom was a doctor, and in each case we had to completely explain the reason for our visit from start to finish. We were asked to call the next day and left the required follow-up appointment with no new information. Twice we were asked to get X-Rays at a different location. In both cases, the people at the X-Ray location seemed confused about why we were there. After the first X-Ray visit, the doctor from our first appointment got back to us promptly and was very helpful. After the second X-Ray (which was suggested by a different doctor), we had to call several times to get anyone to tell us anything, and the response we ultimately received was cursory (obviously because the doctor hadn't received the context about previous visits and was going off a quick glance at the X-Ray). In the end, we went to the family doctor. We should have been patient enough to do so in the first place. read more

Did not take my BCBS, but that's my fault for not checking before I went. Since I was a self pay, though, it seemed like they could not wait to not provide me adequate service. Despite presenting with seemingly every classic symptom of mono, I was not tested for mono. Was tested for strep, which I have had numerous times, that came back negative. It seemed like after that, they were done testing me for things, since I was self pay. Was never even told that it was likely mono that I was presenting with, perhaps because the doctor was unfamiliar with the symptoms. Perhaps because the doctor was bad at being a doctor. Fast forward three days and I am in the ER presenting with the same symptoms, just more intensely. They figured it out almost as soon as they saw me. They took my insurance (ER copay is high, an extra $300 I didn't want to spend, but such is life), and though mono isn't really treatable, it was nice to have an answer to the really worrying level of fatigue and abdominal pain I had been dealing with. An answer that MedSpring could have given me, if they had been at all capable of providing me adequate care. I would ask for my money back, but hopefully MedSpring uses my fees to buy their doctors a book on "common ailments and their symptoms" instead. The lobby was nice, but unfortunately, they are not a hotel, so I don't care. read more

I went there to see a doctor for sore throat. The appointment took less than 10 minutes. They charged me $ 389.09, after insurance plan discount I paid 92.00 the final amount. Few months later I received another bill of $75.00 from Lab. When I called to the billing department they couldn't get any reasonable explanation about the additional bill until I talked to supervisor. The final cost of my 10 minutes' appointment was $464.00 so be cautious of the billing. I will not recommend Midwest Express Clinic due to quality of the service and high billing cost. My wife and I have used Medspring a few times in the past year for various needs. Here are the pros and cons from various visits over the past year. Pros: - Doctor Megan Linley. She's not the absolute best doctor I've seen, but she's the best one here. Knowledgeable and overall nice. She will thoroughly answer any question. - Examination rooms. The rooms are actually pretty nice. A TV you can control and very comfy couches to sit on so you don't only have to sit on the examination bench. The lobby with refreshments is also very nice. - Timeliness. All my visits have been pretty fast and I didn't have to wait at all for any of them. In fact, I've never actually seen anyone else waiting in the lobby besides myself or my wife. Cons: - Doctor Diane Hrdina. Very abrasive and not much bedside manner at all. She's knowledgeable, but it's not worth it to have what's wrong with you basically barked at you. On our last visit, Dr. Hrdina actually caused my wife's anxiety to spike when she went in for abdominal pain. This spiked anxiety caused my wife to experience more abdominal pain and basically defeated the purpose of going there in the first place. - Receptionists. Some of the receptionists are nice. Others are pretty rude. The random disparity of it is frustrating. So I know I have 3 pros and 2 cons, but my experience with Dr. Hrdina was enough to bring this review down. Overall, I'll be continuing any of my immediate care needs at Aayu Clinics two blocks west from this place. read more

I went in for a visit on June 24th, they didn't know what was wrong with me and sent me home with pain meds for my stomach and anti nausea meds, didn't work, wanted me to come back with sample of stool, then prescribed me antibiotics, didn't work. Where is the results of the tests??? I call and call and call, they keep saying doctor is with a patient and will call me back but NEVER DO, I have something wrong with me and they are not helping me at all whatsoever. I called again yesterday, its July 18th?? I went in on June 24th? NO calls No follow ups no nothing. I called, same response shell call you back when she's out. I called around 4, they close at 8, NOTHING!! then what do I see in the mail? A bill that's worth $300. Just called them again, telling me that I have to come into the office on Monday for the results? Why couldn't they tell me this weeks ago, they claim that they have been trying to call me back.... They were seen immediately because the women was being rude to the receptionist and said she didn't want to wait. When I asked why she was seen first, the receptionist said it was an emergency..the "emergency" was that the girl had jammed her finger and needed an xray.. what a joke. read more

This place is a hidden gem! I came in this morning and Jonathan at the front desk was a sweetheart. I did the online check-in beforehand and Jonathan got me all set in a matter of moments. I was offered tea, filled out my info on an ipad, and then was shown to an exam room. They have a little tv in there and really cute couches to wait on. Maybe 30 seconds later, Mayra was in to take my vitals, and then Lauren B. came in right after to check me out. He was so kind and made me feel so comfortable. I was in and out of the office in about 25 minutes. He told me to call if I needed anything at all and that he would be happy to see me when I came back. Total pros! After a couple months of unexplained chest sensations, I decided to go in, just in case I was a dead man walking. For $265, with no insurance, I got checked out along with an X-Ray and EKG. I went in at 8pm on a Tuesday. I was in and out in 50 minutes!!! It was well worth the time and money to learn I'm not a time-bomb; I'm just stressed out. The place is super clean and has an open, modern feel to it. The employees were very relaxed and kind, and of course qualified. Unless I need an ambulance, I'll always go here first. My son came in with pain to his ribs, spent almost 2 hours, have to pay from my own pocket because they couldn't run my insurance although it was not the first time I went there. They had my file and everything but they have to be so unprofessional. Once I paid I asked for a detailed invoice in order to be able to claim it to my insurance and it took them another 30 mn to get this invoice printed!!!!! I had chills on a Sunday in July. My family freaked out and urged me to get a Covid test. Aetna assured me anything Covid related would be covered 100%. The people at the clinic had us wait in the car (my wife was tested, too) and came out and did the swab. They were fine. I asked how long it would take and was told 7-10 days! That's basically useless. So I wound up calling my doctor, was able to get in the next morning, got tested and was told my results almost immediately. I was negative. Now for the maddening part. I received a bill from Midwest Express for $95. I was told that $65 was for an office visit - it was separate from the actual test. And get this - my visit was July 11. They phoned me on July 26, 15 days later. The call lasted 1 minute, 2 seconds. It only lasted that long because they had to confirm my identity. Once they did that, they told me I was negative. Now, get this. It took 15 DAYS for them to tell me I was negative. They tell me this during a quick phone call. THEN THEY CHARGED ME $30 FOR A PHONE CONSULTATION. Yes, you read that right. They take 15 days, so the information is no longer relevant, and charge $30 to phone me for one minute. That's $1800 AN HOUR. And when I called their billing department, they tried to justify it. Anybody who thinks calling someone just to tell them their test was negative is worth $30 has rocks in their head. read more

Short story: avoid unless you're cool with a not great experience and surprise bills. Long story: it all started out alright when I booked an appointment online for an antibody test. I later had to change the appointment time online, which it said was confirmed. First problem: I show up and they don't have the change. Second problem: while getting a blood draw, get unsuccessfully poked by a needle so many times they had to get someone else in. Bruises from that last a week. Those two things are maybe excusable given COVID-19. A few days later, get a call with results. A couple weeks later, I get a bill. Third problem: They charged $91 (less after insurance) for a 2min phone call to share results which could have been in an online portal if they had one. This is even though I confirmed with them and insurance ahead of time that it's covered 100% covered. I call them, they agree it should be covered and said that I'll hear back with a new statement. Forth problem: I hear back that it's not covered. Fifth problem: Within 2 months of the appointment and 1 previous bill letter, they are threatening me with a collection agency. Profits certainly come before patients here. Hope you have better luck if you go. read more

In and out for a pre employment urine test. Came in, greeted with a smile, sat down and flipped through two to three pages of a magazine and low and behold I was called. Did my duty, submitted my specimen and there you go, signed the proper documents, the office person was funny, knowledgable and got me outta there in say 10 minutes max. Disclaimer though, I was so ready to pee so I didn't have to linger to get things done. Clean facility, organized and just so convenient. read more

I start off this review by saying the nurse and doctor were very friendly. This would be a 5-Star review but for the following. A few weeks ago I was feeling sick and wanted to go to an urgent care. I called and asked if they took my insurance and was assured they do. So I made an appointment. When I checked in I gave my insurance card and nothing was said. After waiting about twenty minutes the receptionist came and told me that they didn't take my insurance and I'd have to pay in full. Because I was feeling so sick and already waited so long I didn't feel like finding another urgent care I did pay. I just think it's a lousy thing to do to a sick person to say they take insurance and don't finally tell me they do not until I've already waited so long. So do not recommend. And if you do go, don't necessarily believe them if they say they take your insurance. read more

Thinking this was a reputable place, I went in for some tests which I had to provide a urine sample for. Everything was fine up until my departure. Not only did I give them the address to my pharmacy, but I find out a day later that it was sent to a totally different one. So now I have to take my antibiotics 2 days after I was supposed to start taking them. The day after that, I get a call stating that "the lab" lost my urine sample. How does this happen?? How are you supposed to trust these professionals with critical things like this? Not only did they point the finger at "the lab" but they were extra pushy about coming in to give them another sample. Well I'm sorry, I came in on my day off and I work the same hours you're open. So not only do I have to go back a week later, I have to wait for my results ANOTHER week on top of that. Anything but express. read more

This is the best experience at an urgent care center that I've had. They are exceedingly clear about the wait list and estimated time before you are seen. The rooms are also very comfortable and have a couch with a TV that you can lounge on while waiting to be seen once you are shown to a room. Reviewed with insurance provider and Midwest Express where Midwest Express claimed they would update with correct modifier. Midwest Express failed to do so and I received an additional bill. Called again and said they were unable to use the correct modifier for "telehealth visit". Insurance provider gracious enough to update on their end. Went here for a medical emergency. I'm from out of state so my insurance didn't cover. The receptionist was super friendly and nice! She helped me out with my situation, provide the information I needed, and worked out the paperwork (which is simple and only one page) . Paid the $100 fee for the visit and honestly was worth it. Got seen pretty quick. The nurses were all nice and understanding and I'm was grateful that they took what I was saying seriously. I was prescribed medication and I'll be seeing them soon for a checkup. I was not disappointed at all. Sometimes there was a bit of a wait but considering how the world is right now, their service is top notch. I recently visited MedSpring to complete a drug test required for a new job. It was Friday evening after 6pm. Luckily there were no patients ahead of me so there was no wait time. A woman named Ashley was working the desk and a man named Louis was the technician. They were both very professional and courteous. I explained that I was hoping the test sample could reach the main laboratory by Saturday so that my company could verify the test results on Monday. Unfortunately, FedEx had just visited before I completed my test and wouldn't be back until Saturday afternoon, meaning I might have had to wait another business day for the test results to get to my new employer. Thankfully, Louis called FedEx to come back to pick up the test sample. By Monday, my new employer had the test results and I was able to move forward with the job on-boarding process. why do they charge a covid test as an office visit when literally all i do is go in and get my nose swabbed??? i've been here 5 times for a covid test because they're in network and 3 out of 5 times i haven't gotten billed, so that was great! however, the other two times, i received a patient copay for an office visit when all they do is stick the swab in my nose. i think what has me most frustrated is the inconsistency because it's obvious that they're charging me incorrectly, but after extensive conversations with billing who are insistent they charged correctly even though the procedure code they read to me literally said "office visit" at the end and insurance who backs me up saying that this is a faulty charge, i'm convinced there are some dishonest incentives. i've lost faith in this establishment entirely and am even more heated since there was a recent chicago raid of a covid testing center that was charging incorrectly / profiting off a pandemic and honestly this place should get audited too. unprofessional, greedy, and disappointing. stay away if u want to continue to have whatever little trust u can in the american health care system. read more
