4 separate times I have thought that their receptionist Kristy has been rude to me. The first time I went in she was too busy texting to talk to me, then proceeded to tell me what a hard day she was having. Then when I asked her to show me frames that were covered by my insurance, she walked through the office in a huff, loudly announcing to her everyone that she "had to show me where the 'medicaid?' frames were?", then on my next visit she appeared to have a friend standing at the counter and proceeded to ask me personal information right in front of that person despite the fact that I mentioned to her that this didn't feel very confidential. Finally, I called today mentioning a concern I have regarding my eyeglasses and she's just more prone to arguing than jumping in to see what she can do to help me. Basically, she seems miserable in her job, and I can't help but wonder why the rest of the staff doesn't seem to notice that? or care how she's treating the customers? read more

Complete waste of time, money, and zero communication from one doctor to the next. Two visits totaling over 300 dollars, to be asked to schedule a third appointment, because the doctor was to busy to complete an exam. There was even a confirmation call, two days prior conforming my EYE EXAM. Stay away. read more

This was my first visit to MEC and I was pleased to encounter such a professional staff. The front office staff was willing to help me sort out my somewhat complicated insurance benefits for my comprehensive eye exam...they were awesome! The very professional technician, Anthony, introduced me to a relatively new machine that looks at your Meibomian glands in addition to the usual glaucoma and depth perception tests. As I am bothered by dry eyes, I am looking forward to more in-depth testing in their office to address this issue. All in all, I would say that the testing is very comprehensive, including a color-blind test. And kudos to Dr. Rotheker, who I believe gave me one of the best exams I've had in several years! I look forward to selecting my new frames from their HUGE selection with a wide price-point range. Happy to be a new patient at MEC! read more

I love this place. I have lots of eye issues so I'm there at least every 6 months. Dr. Antos always takes good care of me and makes sure that I'm getting the treatment I need for my histo spots. The staff is also friendly and I rarely wait more than a few minutes after arriving for my appointment. read more

I did not like this place at all.in order to get info from them. It was like pulling teeth out of their mouth.they did not tell me that it was going to take 7 to 10 business days.they did not tell me that on April 21st on Dyngus Day they were going to be close in the AM for training.all along I already payed the full price for my glasses on the same day. I would have given them 0 stars. The store on Main st near 4th st. I went to get my new glasses today 5-6-16 only to find out they gave me a bi-focal with a line and I can't wear them. What a waste of money. They said they offered the no-line to me and they never did! I have never had a line in my glasses. They said we talked about this and I put a note that you refuse this. I told her, no way. The only person who said anything out of pocket was a pic of my eye and that would have been $30.00. They don't listen very well and kinda rude to new customers! Won't ever go back there. And don't let the dilate your eyes because then they will let you drive home and boy that was a trip trying to drive home with your eyes dilated and your eyes are so sensitive to the sun or any kind of light. TERRIBLE!!! I was told my contacts would be ready in December. It is now almost April and because of repeated mistakes on their end, I STILL don't have them. They apologized so many times last visit and the next time said it wasn't their fault. I hate that I have to give this place ONE star. That's one start that they don't deserve!! read more

It turns out they charged me for something that they also submitted to my insurance without telling me. They finally gave me a reimbursement after several weeks and sent it to an address I had told them was no longer valid. Also I specifically asked for a copy of my glasses and contact prescription, and the receptionist told me that they were the same, and sent me off with a paper that turned out to be just a glasses prescription. Seriously avoid this place. They are very bad at communicating and definitely cut corners. read more

I really don't like it when a doctor comes into the exam room and says hello, states your first name and then proceeds to introduce themselves by Dr. and their surname. When did the medical profession decide to ignore common curtesy? Please, especially if I am a married woman over 35, address me as Mrs. or Ms. until I give you leave to use my first name. I went to the Midwest Eye Consultants at 220 N. Ironwood Dr. South Bend,IN 46615. I would not recommend this place to anyone. My appointment was at 2:30 and didn't see Dr. Charles Craig until 3:30. The office forgot to call in my allergy eye drops, the office girl Alyssa made a $90.00 mistake. I paid my bill in full and was told I still had a $90.00 balance. Was told by the office girl Angela they were checking into this and someone would call me back but they never did. Never pay in cash here! Went over my bill and they over charged me $1.67. The roll and polish I paid extra for was awful! Nothing like I was told it would be. Had to send the glasses in to remove the polish and found small scratches in the lenses when I picked them up 4 days later. This is the worst place I've ever been and I've been wearing glasses since third grade. Very unprofessional staff! Ripoffs! Liars! read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I went to the one on Main St in Mishawka Indiana. My appointment was 10/22/2015. It is now 12/3/2015. I have no new glasses and out all the money. I returned my glasses twice immediately after receiving and both times the lenses peeled. Of course they acted like I caused the damage. I am currently waiting on my refund. I had to force them to put it in writing that I would be receiving a refund. Of course they couldn't do it themselves. I also had to call my insurance company to verify who gets back the portion of money they paid. I am limited to conditions of insurance as to how many times a year I can purchase glasses. Insurance has yet to be refunded. Very poor business practice. I guess they don't care they could of had numerous new patients because we all share are good in network doctors. Doctor Faust was amazing. Best eye doctor I have ever been to. Its really to bad because he lost a lot of potential patients because of the poor customer service! read more

I, too, wish I could give negative stars for this business. My family and I were recently accepted as new patients. The 5 of us had appointments (which took more than a half hour to schedule over the phone). I didn't feel confident in the scheduler but figured she was new. My son and I went to our appointments the next day and I was frustrated with the lack of communication there; I repeated the same things to 3 different people who all "noted" it in the system, yet each acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Two days later we were supposed to come back for more appointments and an in-depth screening. The office was closed due to the weather. I called to reschedule the 4 appointments and after another half hour of talking in circles and the scheduler looking on the wrong date, I told her I would call another time and did NOT schedule any appointments. I received several messages from the office to reschedule the appointments. Today I got a message saying they were reminding me of my appointment tomorrow. None had been made. I called back and let the lady know and she argued with me, saying nobody would have made the appointment without me calling in and scheduling it myself. She was very impolite and tried placing the blame on me. I told her I would not be in and we would be going elsewhere. I have never experienced such a poor experience and they lost 5 of us because of it. After reading previous reviews, I see they have already lost several others because of their lack of customer service and placing blame on the patient.
