I asked how much for all three boards and they quoted me $41. 61. I'm new to buying wood so I figured that was a normal price. I didn't check the receipt after I'd paid (my fault) and I went home happy and excited to make stuff. It wasn't until a few days later that I found my receipt and saw they'd charged me $416.14 for three boards. These prices are far above the national average for wood and they don't post prices at the rack. Had I bought these boards anywhere else I would have paid far less. An example, I paid $21.60 a linear foot for the walnut. That's about $32.40 a board foot. S2S online is $14.99 a board foot. I paid more than double to have two extra sides surfaces and sanded. My whole purchase should have costed less than $200. I can't speak for the rest of their merchandise, but if you're buying hardwood don't go here. Update: Brisco True Value in AG charges $11.99 a bd ft for walnut, $6.15 for maple, and $7.59 for cherry. My purchase there would have been approximately $171.53 before taxes and fees for the amount I purchased. I will be shopping there from now on.

Sam and Ken (the owner), came out to do the measuring. Jose did the fabrication. He did such a beautiful job. They did a single piece back splash that is really gorgeous. I have been dreaming of working with Natural Stone Source for quite some time. When they were…read morelocated on Frontage Rd in Nipomo, we would regularly walk our dogs past their store and dream about one day being able to redo our own kitchen with beautiful stone from their store. Fast-forward a few years and their new location in Santa Maria has MORE slabs and is now conveniently located right around the corner from our house! We recently committed to doing our kitchen and it was a no brainer who we were buying our slabs from. We went to the grand opening celebration for their new Santa Maria location and Caryn, our salesperson, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. She never once pressured us to make a decision and was extremely easy going. Their selection of products is incredible, and the way it's laid out in the store makes it very easy to shop and compare. They carry porcelain, marble, granite, quartz, quartzite, and much more. They also offer sinks, backsplash options, and work with local appliance companies, so it can really be a one-stop-shop for most of your remodeling needs. We originally thought we'd go with porcelain, but kept looking and circled back multiple times to an incredibly beautiful slab of Sea Pearl Quartzite. Because the natural stone slabs are all unique, we made our purchase that night so we'd not lose out on this perfect stone. We ordered two slabs and they stored them until we were ready for templating & install. Once we were ready for the countertops, we put our deposit down for installation, and set a date with Mike for template and install. When the crew came to template the kitchen, the lead, David, took dimensions and made a template of our kitchen and backsplash. He took his time making sure everything was measured correctly and if there were any design details he asked us what our thoughts were and would note the change. The templates were given to John, a master at cutting stone, who finished our countertops and backsplash in two days, way ahead of our scheduled install date, which means we're that much closer to having a working kitchen again. We decided not to choose the layout of the template and gave John total creative freedom, and we're glad we did. Install day was like Christmas morning, and after seeing the layout John decided on, we were floored. All of the pieces came together perfect and he was able to book match all the mitered edges, and there appears to be no seams even though they were cut and glued together. The grain pattern everywhere is gorgeous and well thought out! David, Alex and a few other guys were here for the install. I love that David was here for the install since he was the one to template and he knew exactly how things were supposed to be. They laid drop cloths across the house to protect our floors, and worked hard to keep dust to a minimum. The guys spent 7.5 hours installing our countertops and backsplash. They had to make some additional cuts on-site to ensure perfect fitment of the backsplash and some pieces that wrapped inside the window box. A few sections of stone weighed over 600lbs, but these guys made lifting the slabs into place look easy and were extremely careful when handling them so as to not damage anything. David is extremely meticulous and you'll find him constantly using a level and measuring multiple times before making cuts, he also looks at things from different angles to make sure it all looks correct. I appreciate his perfectionism and his work is reflective in his attention to detail. I am EXTREMELY picky and notice little things and his work is FLAWLESS! I'm telling you, he's the guy you want installing your countertops! When it was all done, the guys cleaned everything up and vacuumed the areas of the house they worked in, very professional and courteous. I couldn't be happier with our decision to use Natural Stone Source for our kitchen countertops and backsplash!! They are the best choice on the central coast for all of your natural stone needs!! I will post before and after pics once our kitchen is completed.

I found this hidden place by the kind referral by the Arroyo Grande granite place. What sets it apart is the Customer Service & wide choices of remnants... if you happen to find a piece that suits your little project they are a bargain. They also do fabrication & have a little cute shop where you can plan the big projects. They are far more friendly than the Nipomo granite place, but have fewer choices... but better prices. Veronica L. was friendly, helpful, & knowledgable...even though I just picked-up just a small perfect piece of granite for very little bucks. It just happened to be 1 foot wide & about 16 inches deep which fit perfectly width wise. The front side was already polished & the back jagged side is now hidden by kitchenware. It just fit a gap in my weird assortment of remnants that cover much of the crappy old white tile with aging grout in my kitchen. My wife was very pleased with the color of the granite which just so happened to be complimentary to the next piece. Since I also just found a fabulous local Santa Maria fabricator who can either join up my random assortment into something joined/ epoxied that looks better. He also has the same idea as me as to possible breakup the random pieces & make a mosaic type of counter filed with dark grout that would be really cool looking & quite cheap. He said he did a similar thing with his bathroom wall. Definitely worth a stop, while you explore the area...like Dunes Park & getting a snack at King Falafel, while you explore the small former Japanese town of Guadalupe on wonder Hwy 1.

I've been trying my best to avoid corporate stores, and support local. But This place and Brisco's are making it very difficult. When I arrived, one worker (hired 4 days ago) commented to the other how customers always come rolling in 30 min before closing. As I had just discovered this Lumber Yard this morning, I was one of them. After wandering the yard, looking for the materials for my project, I came back into the sales office. There was another customer asking about solar tubes, and the salesmen were unable to help. This I understand. These guys may be knowledgable in some areas, but not all. But they completely shut this customer down. When he said he'd just go to Miner's, their response was, "Yes, please! I'd love for you to go to Miner's!". After the customer had left, they both kept discussing how frustrating this customer was. That was all I needed to hear to know I don't need to support this local business. I'm not looking to have my butt kissed from the time I walk in, just a bit more courtesy than these guys were displaying. As I walked out, I commented, "Customers are SUCH a pain in the ass, huh?!" True to form, both sales staff answered enthusiastically YES! As I'm a contractor, picking up more and more local projects, I was hoping to find a good lumber yard to do business with. It was nice to know that this company is there to continue to warranty their work and the final product. You could not ask for a better disposition with Chad. Expressed sincere care and concern for making sure we were happy and a commitment to making sure the manufacturer stood behind their product if there were any concerns. Great company. I only chose this contractor because the previous owner used them and I wanted to match the flooring after a water leak. They are super expensive, took forever to start, and then walked off the job, leaving me high and dry. All because I asked a question about a $500 additional charge over their bid. Luckily I found Izzy's installations (Highly recommended!) They did a fantastic job at a great price, and corrected an area where Central Coast Flooring put the tiles in crooked. Izzy's was very pleasant to work with and such a refreshing change of pace.
