I used to refer customers to them. Never again. Inadequately staffed with customer service leaving much to be desired.

First of all the carpet itself looks great and I was happy with the price and the help from Blake at the showroom was excellent. They also squeezed me in on short notice which was huge as I couldn't move in to my upstairs until the disgusting old carpeting was replaced. FIVE STARS on all that! The downside was the installer. Not friendly at all, borderline attitude. I attempted to be friendly and make conversation a few times and finally gave up - this guy didn't seem to have much respect for me or my home - seemed to want to just get the damn job done and get home. My place had been cleaned spotless two days previous, yet the installers left a mess for me to clean up, including: the driveway & garage, bathroom floors & sinks, boot prints on the baseboard, hand smudges bedroom doors, one closet left un-vacuumed, plus some misc carpet-dust & mess around - oh, and a big scrap of the new carpet laying out on the garage floor (I was actually happy to have it, but how about asking/letting me know.) Maybe this is typical, but to me part of pride in workmanship is leaving the place like you found it - he/they drove away like they could care less about what they left behind - felt like a big eff you to me. I spent an hour or so cleaning up after them. The kicker was they scraped up the brand new paint, pretty badly in one spot & definitely noticeable in another, in one of the bedrooms. So I'll spend another chunk of my time re-painting. They said nothing about any of this - in fact drove away from an empty home leaving my front door unlocked, without even the courtesy of a phone call, despite the fact they had my number and I had asked them to call when they were done. Thank God the carpet does look great - that saved it. But if I'm going to spend upwards of a couple thousand dollars I'd like to have someone in my house that I trust, that's respectful to me and my home, is professional and courteous, and cleans up after themselves. Josh came and measured. Sent estimate for the work, and recommended someone to repair damaged floor. Husband and I went to the warehouse, showed Josh the flooring we wanted. He said he would get an estimate for the vinyl. That was several weeks ago. I have emailed twice to get the product estimate. Crickets. And the contractor he recommended to repair the sub floor? Also crickets after the initial call. Am guessing that we weren't fancy enough or spending enough for Cal Coast. They can't be bothered with folks who aren't spending lots of money. read more

Spoke with a representative who was quick to make an appointment for a measurement. After that, he told me he would check our selection for availability. Never heard back for him, left message and never returned our call. He proceeded to tell me he would get back with us for a price and never returned that call either. Poor customer service and it makes me wonder how it would have been had they completed the job. Be careful and beware. read more

They installed vinyl laminate flooring for us, flooring failed, they replaced with new flooring, and now that flooring is failing. Does not stand behind their products or installation. It has been a 5 year ordeal. For your sake, find a different vendor and installer. I am currently pursuing litigation for over 20k of bad flooring. read more

Since I live 200 miles from Arroyo Grande and needed new flooring from my rental home, the selection of carpet and laminate was via emailing, a daunting but successful back and forth exchange of showing me their products. Two appointments. Never showed or called. Really? Going somewhere else obviously, but we are disappointed. This store had great reviews and they were so nice when we went in. We were referred by neighbors also. Get it together guys. Rob called early next day, apologized, and we gave him another chance. He measured and we are going to get prices. Will report progress, although I had already made an appointment with another company. Probably better to get two prices. Well, I have to give Rob credit for a job well done. He simply made a mistake with the first appointment. He gave us a fair price and great advice on carpet types. We are very pleased. They installed the flooring in a big remodel we did on our house. It came out well. A year or so later we decided to do a bedroom with the stuff we had left over from the remodel. They installed up but two planks we about 1/8 of an inch higher than the adjacent flooring (same stuff). We called and left messages. No response. Sent emails on their website. No response. Finally got someone on the phone. He said he'd get right on it. Never heard another thing from him. I went by the store and asked them to come out and look at the problem. They showed up and said they'd get right on it. A couple months later? No response. So far we've gotten the run around from two separate people. I guess I'll have to call another company to see if they can fix Cal Coast's mistakes. read more

After saving 3 thousand dollars, we yelped carpet installation and went to see two places, G&S carpet in Santa Maria and Cal Coast Carpet in Oceano. G&S showed us the lowest quality materials and we left the place discouraged. Walked in at Cal Coast Carpet we were greeted by Mike. He was very helpful and offered us so many choices. He special ordered our carpet and sheet vinyl. Way nicer than I thought we could afford.Under buget too. Our installers were extremely detailed oriented and highly professional. We moved into a condo in Pismo Beach while selling our home up north, leaving Cal Coast to replacing our entire condo with new padding and carpet without us being there. They met a deadline, due to our movers having a delivery the day after they were to install, and there was a possibility that the delivery of the carpet (from GA) could be late, but they assured us they would 'stay all night if necessary' to complete the installation. When we came to our new place, we were stoked to find that they did such a fine job without any supervision and the padding and carpet we selected was installed with no flaws and absolutely beautiful and plush. From a customer service stand-point.........WOW!!! I was just in the store today and the customer service was exceptional. The two people who helped me knew an unbelievable amount about the products they sell; how it was manufactured; where it was manufactured on each piece of wood; where it sits in the market; as well as the "guts" of the build on each piece of wood they sell. Thank you Sarah for your response. To clarify, wet mopping is very different from Swifters. We have used swifters on all of the flooring and only a few areas have become an issue. It is possible that in these areas the planks are defective and have created the bubbles. Again, in my research, quite a few customers have had the same issue we are having. This particular product was manufactured in China and has had issues. Surprised you are unable to find our info as we spent a substantial dollars for our flooring and tile. We have taken our issue up with Armstrong directly since our reviews our post due to Cal Coast lack of assistance. read more

Walked in to view vinyl plank flooring. Everyone was in the back office talking. I assumed someone would come and help me so I browsed for about 20 mins. No one ever came out. Even after making eye contact with one of them in the office. So I left and will find another place to buy my flooring. read more

Been looking at Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring for my entire house. My designer recommended Cal Coast and I actually got quotes from them two years ago but never moved on them back then. I finally decided to pull the trigger. I used Impact Interiors (interior designer) to assist me with the selection and the designer also recommended Cal Coast. Cal Coast was very responsive then and now. Blake came out and measured the house again and provided an updated quote. Rob the owner spent a lot of time with us showing the various brands and discussing the pros and cons of each. I must have taken home 10 different samples over a 1.5 week time frame and there was no pressure to bring them back right away. They said take your time. We finally selected one and I expected to take a few weeks to get and install. Much to my surprise, they ordered and began installing a week later. The two installers couldn't have been better, very meticulous in their work, and very detailed. They also installed baseboards and caulked all nail holes and joints. Being retired law enforcement, I am very picky with vendors and I look for honesty, integrity, and responses back to inquiries in a timely fashion. Cal Coast met all these values. My floor looks great and I highly recommend Cal Coast for flooring. read more

We are new home owners and walked into the store to get a price quote. It looked like they only had 2 employees working and each was attending a customer; understandably, we knew we would not be attended right away and we would have to wait. However, after 10 minutes of us browsing we weren't even acknowledged, not even a "we'll be right with you," "Or when we are done with these customers we can help you." Extremely poor customer service to not acknowledge customers, especially when you know you can't get to them right away and they'll have to wait. Maybe they do so well in business they can afford to loose customers and be selective with whom they help. The following sequence of events was our experience with using CalCoast Carpet for flooring in our home: -the measurement of our property for new flooring went as scheduled with Herb. We immediately went to the CalCoast showroom to select carpet & laminate, as we were working with limited time constraints. The very next business day we confirmed that our product selections were available for installation in our requested time frame. The confirmation by Herb for that specific installation time frame allowed us to schedule additional work prior to the flooring installed. Herb failed to secure our date, however, because he took a week to return our estimate to us. The domino effect of this delay changed our entire September schedule for flooring installation, affecting all arrangements with other trades. -the morning of the installation we made a call to confirm the arrival time of the installers. no one had contacted us. -we like the product (carpet choices and laminate choice) that we selected. The carpet installation went well. The laminate installation was subpar. (The photos are representative.) Base trim, kitchen cabinet, and drywall were all damaged and were not repaired. Now we are obliged to hire a finish carpenter to repair the damages left by the installation team. -clean-up was extremely poor: no daily attention to sweeping or vacuuming. (photos indicate a portion; as homeowners we kept up with as much as possible while they worked.) -no one from CalCoast followed up to ask how anything was going, if we were satisfied or not. we stopped at the office the day after installation was complete. Blake greeted us with a "hello", but Herb did not acknowledge us as customers at all. In closing, we want to say that "the product" is NOT the business; service is. We could not recommend this business due to the lack of customer care. read more

They were really friendly and came and did a free estimate for wood floors on my house. After that I could never get a hold of Mike. I called and went into to the store a couple of times, but he never returned my calls. Emails were supposed to be sent, but I never received them. I had asked for 4 different samples to be estimated for price. But they only did 1, and was way over priced! I just don't understand why they would treat customers like they don't exist. Good service, competitive prices, installers who are conscientious, professional people who obviously take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. In addition they were careful in moving, replacing and arranging our furniture (no small task with very heavy items like a piano, triple dresser, large office furniture, etc.) In addition, they were able to accommodate our scheduling preferences, doing floors first and returning a week later to install our carpeting. Feels like a brand new house, and we appreciate that they understood how stressful this process can be for a seventy-something couple. I love this place!!! I've used them for small jobs and big jobs. I decided I wanted laminate hardwood flooring in my entire house and was curious how it would look. Rob, the owner, let me take a piece home so I could feel confident about this kind of purchase. (my husband and I are first time home owners) We decided we loved the sample and I can not even express how happy I am with the results!!! Our house looks amazing!!! Please do not ever use these people, we live out of town, and wanted to get new carpet, and tile for our vacation home, the salesman ( herb) told us no problem it would take a week maybe two, well it took about three and a half and they did not do the best job they were also supposed to do floor vents and figured it in the total, well we never got those. I called them four times before he ever called back, he said he would have it done ASAP well a week later nothing, I would never recommend them to anybody..and on top of that the person who installed it, their truck leaked oil all over our driveway..nice read more
