I asked for quotes from a few movers to load my piano onto my moving truck and Mighty Men Moving was the company that had one of the highest Yelp rating and most reasonable pricing. I was charged 2 hours for the job, of which 1.5 hours was for their traveling. That seems to be the standard practice among the other movers in northern VA as well. But since it only took one person to secure the piano once it got onto the truck, the other 2 guys were happy to help me load my other boxes onto the truck, which was extremely helpful. When I got to my new home in NC, I had another company unload the piano and the guy commented on how well the piano was secured to the truck. He said, "Whoever did this did a good job." I recommended them to a friend who was also going to move and needed the full service because I reckoned if they can do a small job like mine so professionally, they will do the same for a full service job. read more

These guys are great. I had a storage unit that needed to be loaded into a moving truck and called about 6 different movers. Mighty Men was the only one that called back. I just used Mighty Men for a local move to an apartment in Arlington. They did an excellent job. I called around and did a lot of research before using them and I'm so happy with their work. The price was about right -- not cheap and not expensive -- middle of the road. But, for what I paid, I got 2 movers who showed up right on time, were friendly, and who had probably 40 special moving pads that they used to wrap my stuff and then slapped tape all around it. They also brought carts with rollies to put loose stuff in, which made the whole move very fast. The move took a total of 2.5 hours, plus 1 hour of travel time. So, I paid for 3.5 hours total. Nothing was damaged -- mainly because they padded it very well and took care in handling it. Highly recommend them. Emmanuel is the owner. Try and ask for him to come on your job. We used Mighty Men last week to pick up and deliver a large antique cupboard and grandfather clock we purchased at an auction. One was big and bulky, the other tall and fragile. Our guys called enroute to the pickup, met me there and immediately went to work with the folks at the auction house to locate our items. The guys then carefully inspected the the pieces, wrapped them securely and loaded them with efficiency and care. The same occurred with the unloading at our home. These guys were awesome. I needed some help in less than a week moving into a large home after my original plans fell through. Mighty Men was able to schedule a 4-man crew for me. They showed up right on time but since they were a man down, discounted the price. The lack of the extra guy apparently didn't matter much though because they managed to unload everything in only two hours - an hour less than the estimate. I've moved 7 or 8 times over the last 10 or so years and have never seen guys unload so quickly and this included a piano (they don't charge a surcharge for pianos like most of the other companies). Due to a last minute opportunity to move (one week's notice), I took on the impossible task of finding a high-quality mover at the end of a month with essentially no notice. blasted inquiries to most of the highly rated movers in the area. Even with the late notice, Emmanuel responded quickly and worked hard to find an opening for us. Our condominium association has a firm 4 hour window when moves are allowed. With this constraint, he ended up having to cancel and tell us he couldn't do this move. Even so, he was very helpful in making connections with other companies - even ones that hadn't responded to my first inquiry. I recently hired MMM to do the move for my mother who is downsizing and about to retire. The two movers - Walt and Jorge - arrived right on time (actually I think they even got there a little early). After we went through the items in the house that needed to be moved, they went straight into work and did not stop until they had everything in the truck. Although the movers were fast and efficient, they are not the cleanest folk. In particular, when we recently moved into our new home we of course let them use the bathrooms, thinking no big deal. Unfortunately, one if movers has some GI issues going on, which in and of itself is fine - it happens to us all. But what is not fine is having explosive diarrhea in several of my new home's bathrooms and NOT cleaning up the mess. We found out after they left and to say I was pissed is a GROSS understatement -pun very much intended. Seriously, I would have given five stars if it were not for this foolishness. So, unless you want to clean another person's fecal matter, do not use these guys -or just don't let them use your bathrooms. read more

I just used them and it was disappointing. Given the ratings on Yelp, I expected a bit more. The guys were pleasant, but they left several things behind, some of which I should have caught. One entire closet was left behind. But what really surprised me was the lack of attention to scraping the walls. They seemed to be in a bit too much of a hurry. They may have been trying to be timely, but I would much rather pay more and avoid scraping my walls. I moved six months ago and also back in August, 2009, and each time I did not have a problem with any gouges or scrapes on my walls. When I showed the scrapes and gouges on site to the lead mover, he didn't seem to care too much. He just said I could re-paint. I know that the walls were pristine due to the fact that I had to do a walk-though with the builder and no one was in the home since then. I am going to have to do some painting and fill in the nicks. Nor did the lead mover care about the items that had been left behind. I tried to give Emmanuel notice of this pending post, but it has been almost 48 hours with no response. They sure had time to cash my check, though. read more

Prompt. Reliable. Very cost competitive. That is how I would describe Mighty Men Moving. We had recently moved from a 2 bedroom apartment in Arlington to our daughter and son-in law's house in Fairfax County pending the completion of our cottage in Lancaster County PA. Half of our possessions were in storage nearby and the rest were in the house. Our move to Fairfax County had been acceptable, but not great, so we decided to get estimates from two movers in addition to an estimate from our original mover. With Mighty Men Moving, Emmanuel came and gave us a ball bark estimate of $2200 to $2700 after looking at the stuff to be moved and got back to me after he checked the mileage within 48 hours with a final estimate of $2500. The other estimates were $3600 and $6000. With Mighty Men Moving there was no surcharge for the extra pickup location. In addition, there was a 5% discount for cash. On moving day, the crew showed up on time and ready to work. The furniture was all padded and loaded into the truck. The chairs and couch were shrink wrapped to prevent damage. 100's of boxes were loaded (ok I didn't count and this is probably a hyperbole). The process took about 3 hours. The next day the crew drove to Lancaster and met us within 10 minutes of the promised arrival time. Everything came into the house. I directed where the furniture went. Everything was unpadded. Mirrors were attached to dressers. The legs were attached to the dining room table. The cleaned up their packing material (shrink wrap and used tape) and took it with them. Oh, the price I paid was the price Emmanuel Quoted, less the cash discount. If you are going to move I highly recommend Might Men Moving. read more
