For me, Dr. Xu's personality, her skill set, and her eye for esthetics are simply incredible. It is also clear that the office team is trying to provide an experience for their clients to feel welcomed, held, cared about, and supported throughout the process, including into recovery. One thing I would prepare others for who are considering this option is that the surgery center and anesthesiologist were an expensive part of the overall package. While I trust and feel confident with Dr. Xu, there are other people who also support the surgery. The anesthesiologist was trying to put an iv in my foot, which was painful, before Dr. Xu arrived and advised him to put me under first. That seems like something the anesthesiologist, with all his years of experience, should have known to do himself. The surgery itself went beyond the estimated time and both the surgery center and anesthesiologist had additional fees, increasing the overall cost by ~2k. I was turning 40 and thinking seriously about liposuction and researching plastic surgeons in the SF area. Everything about the process with Dr. Xu from start to finish was very seamless and comfortable. Her staff was very professional and responsive. Dr. Xu was genuine, listened to my concerns, advised me against liposuction in certain areas and explained her reasoning. I felt taken care of every step of the way, and Dr. Xu was available and called to check on me immediately post-procedure. Our follow-ups have been great and she's closely monitoring my scars. (As I believe some other reviews have mentioned, other plastic surgeons require you to pay up from several hundred dollars just for a consultation, and at least the rates I was quoted from others seemed very steep in comparison to Dr. Xu. I was really only deciding between Dr. Xu and another SF surgeon, and this other surgeon's office (after taking a hefty deposit for a consult) called me 2 hours before my consultation appointment to tell me that the doctor would not even see me because my alleged BMI was too high. First, this actually was factually incorrect. Second, this other doctor had my stats and information for months and didn't bother to review until the day of the appointment. This interaction alone put me off to any other doctor and I basically decided then and there that I'd be better off in Dr. Xu's care. And I was. No regrets, and glad I did this for me.) read more

Dr. Ginger Xu is incredible and super sweet during the whole process. I went to her originally for a breast augmentation after much research to find my ideal surgeon. She was knowledgeable, kind, and patient while she explained the procedure to me. During the consultation, she observed my lower abdominal scar with uneven tissue resulting from surgery due to a birth defect and suggested she can also fix it. I hesitated since I heard from the previous MD that the only option was "tummy tuck" and was advised to wait until after future pregnancy. Dr. Xu explained an alternative option which was an abdominal scar revision. I was interested and agreed to both procedures. On the day of surgery, Dr. Xu and the nurses took such good care of me. I was not nervous since the staff was very comforting and checked on me frequently during both pre-op and post-op. I am now 3 weeks post-op, and couldn't be happier with my results thus far. I knew Dr. Xu would do great with the breast augmentation, but the scar revision on my lower stomach exceed my expectations. It was nice to see my stomach completely flat for the first time. Recovery was fast, and there was no need for me to take my pain medication after the third day. I can't say enough good things and this was the best decision I did for myself.
