    Honey teriyaki beef jerky
    Caroline M.

My family and I stopped in to purchase jerky and fresh honey. It's been almost seven years since we last visited. The place still looks much as it did back in 2012. Inside a small building we were greeted with a friendly hello from a young lady behind the counter. We perused the many bags of jerky and fresh honey lining the shelves and hanging on the display pegs. My son loves jerky and every since we stopped in nearly seven years ago when we discovered this hidden gem--he's wanted to return to buy more. My son chose the honey teriyaki beef jerky and I chose the orange blossom honey. We purchased two bags of jerky and one small jar of honey for $36.00. A little pricey from what I remember for an earlier visit but all right--you get what you pay for. During the course of three days on our trip to Reno/Sparks, we managed to eat most of the two bags of jerky. We will try the honey on biscuits. I can't wait! Miguel's is another one of those-must stops in Beatty, Nevada. It sits right off the main road, you really can't miss it. Give it a try, if you haven't already, you'll be glad you did.

Definitely a must stop on your way to Pahrump!

If you ever plan to make the drive to Pahrump to do some wine tasting or get turnt up like Lamar at The Love Ranch, be sure to swing by Miguel's Country Store first! A country store it really isn't, but more like a trailer in a dirt lot off the side of the street right before you enter Pahrump. Four things are primarily sold here: Jerky - assorted flavors of beef, buffalo, and elk-soft, chewy, and the teriyaki is BOMB! Dried Fruit - all kinds to choose from, including dried cantaloupe Nuts-Savory and sweet varieties, great for snacking Local Honey-Assorted varieties, raw, not pasturized, and a very great value Samples are available for 99% of the things Miguel sells-except the Sage Blossom Honey, due to very small quantities produced. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Look for the signs on the side of the road, and slow down, because the Po-Po is also hiding out nearby to tag all the speed demons. ALOHA!!! Nice place to grab a quick snack. We were in town during a recent trip to Death Valley National…read morePark and this place came highly recommended to us. It did not disappoint! There are multiple small eateries inside with different hours. The main area has a bunch of snacks, including many sugar-free options. They also have toys and some novelties. Not the cheapest, but pretty reasonably priced overall. We tried the coconut dark chocolate haystacks and laffy taffy. The haystacks were really good. So much dark chocolate and nuttiness. The laffy taffy was alright. Prone to melting even at room temperature, but the kids enjoyed most of the flavors. There's also a gas station - very convenient!

Snack Heaven [Beatty NV]…read more During road trips we like to stop by this store for snacks before heading to and out of Las Vegas. More than a convenience store it is a gift shop offering hot food, desserts and bulk candies of all types to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth... it is a specialty shop where you can order fresh sandwiches and other made-to-go items and get your hands on chocolate, beef jerky, nuts, snacks like popcorn, dried fruits, wasabi peas, and more salty treats, and of course, ice cream and just about any type of candy you can dream up. We shared a beef burrito... it was good. The banana split was yummy! They also sell stuffed donkey toys and other souvenir merchandise but you will also see real donkeys there sometimes blocking a gas pump LoL! This is definitely a one-stop shop for gas, candy, ice cream... and donkeys, if you're lucky to find them there while passing through Beatty in Nevada. The cold treats were perfect for triple-digit weather. Review #3962

Driving by, my brother and I thought, wow, that place doesn't even look open and it doesn't look like it would be very good so we went to the Candy and Nut place that we were there for, we shopped and on the way out, we asked people that worked there and they all said it doesn't look like much but is really great inside. So back we went and Yeah, it had quirks. The waitress was super friendly, I am sorry I didn't get her name.. It was small with about 10 tables. The one we sat at was super wobbly and the floor was stained and I thought, well, this is going to be interesting. I liked the deco--old photos of old stars, cars, old coke glasses, very unique and looked it up while we waited for our drinks, its been there for 60 years.... I got a soda and my brother a coffee. He said it was good. I got eggs and hashbrowns and he got the same + bacon. Served on a paper plate (I laugh because we don't use plates at home) but it was good. we saw burros walking by. The bathroom was private (Outside on the side of the building, like a gas station might have) and it was clean... it locked. I did hear a burro walk by hooting, that was, well, a hoot. All in all, the menu looked good--Though I am glad I eat eggs because if I didn't, there would not be much for Vegans... But I would still go back on my next visit to the area.

C) You find yourself in rural Nevada and are starving. D) You find yourself in rural Nevada and have $10 or less. If any one or any combination of the above apply, then Subway is your place to go. Nothing earth shattering or culinarily off the charts going in at Subway here. Unless you live in a box and never get out, every one in America knows what Subway is. This location in Beatty, NV is no exception...but know it is one of your only options period in Beatty. But if you are seeking healthy food along many roads in rural Nevada, your options are going to be slim. My review gets a 4, not because Subway is awesome, but because this Subway is a welcome oasis in a desert of nothingness. Subway is consistent on quality, consistent on price and the staff in Beatty was super sweet to boot. I personally enjoy their egg sandwich on a sub roll and loaded up with veggies. A great healthy option for any cowboy or cowgirl wandering the West!

The counter person gave me the usual four scoops of tuna, but I noticed immediately that the scoop size had changed for the worse. Four scoops on a 12 inch added a layer of less than a quarter inch. I guess I still remember when Subway used to have good sandwiches.
