The shoots are pleasantly distracting and mildly chaotic; I got caught up in the preparation, the hair and makeup session, and forgot to be nervous for awhile. Lots of conversation and encouragement and, for some, a little wine, later, the shoot itself is on, and the work is underway for all ... Those poses can be tough! But as Carole says, and proves, the more uncomfortable holding the pose is, the more flattering the shot will be! And she's positioning too ... there's no standing behind a tripod for her ... she's climbing on tables and ducking under chairs and shelves, leaning this way and that, all for the sake of catching exactly the right angle where your natural beauty shows through the best! I needed luxury branding portraits for my brokerage's new website launch and wanted a specific look…read moreto the photos. After seeing the photos that Aven Willow does, I knew that was exactly what I needed. I spoke with the photographer and owner, Jodie Jolly, and she explained the process. They do hair and makeup in her Downtown McKinney studio, which is in a cool, historic building. She recommended I bring 3 outfits and we discussed the color scheme. On the day of photos, I was really nervous. Jodie made me feel so relaxed and guided me through the poses and facial expressions. She played fun music in the background to set the mood and I felt so much more comfortable as we got to the second half of shooting. She takes her time, makes sure she got the right shots to get your message & speak to your brand. She scheduled the reveal for the following week. We met at her studio and she showed me the slideshow of the pictures. I was blown away at how fabulous they turned out. Before I went in, I was only going to buy 3 pictures, but I feel in love with too many and bought 10! When my two friends and I signed up for her 40 over 40 experience we had high hopes for a once in a lifetime experience. And in September 2023 the session was just that. We happily paid a hefty sum for a large Portrait package with a lovely storage box included. After waiting months while being told that we were waiting on the box, we asked for the portraits and to receive the box when she received delivery of her shipment. I went by her studio and picked up the portraits. The portraits I was given appeared to be the ones that she had displayed at our "Reveal " saying they were samples when we made our selections. After many inquiries followed by excuses, she sent an email with a link to all of the original digital files, saying compensation for our patience. To date, we still have not received the box and my messages to her business, and to her personally, have been ignored. I feel obligated now to let others know that Jodie is a talented photographer with great sales skills who will take a hefty sum from your pocketbook and not deliver on promises. Oh, and that 40 over 40 book and the party to celebrate she promised? Beware! That never happens either.
