Vinyl pool owners, beware! I had a horrible experience with…read moreGolden State Pool Service that has prompted me to take legal action. After a routine service visit to my vinyl pool, the pool began losing water rapidly and dropped to less than halfway full within days. A Vinyl Pool Repair company later identified a large puncture in the liner and advised the damage appeared consistent with blunt force. It is in the very bottom corner of the pool on the 8ft side, somewhere a 5 year old child couldn't reach. I checked camera footage to see their technician using his tool in an up and down motion as if he's spearfishing in my pool. Days later - the water dropped less than halfway. Other red flags - they removed my existing vacuum and replaced with a different one without my knowledge or permission. This specific vacuum was not recommended for vinyl from the vinyl EXPERTS that I consulted with. Furthermore, they also charged me on a random day for some type of "annual fee" without disclosing that upfront. Lastly, the last service visit we had (on a rainy day - no clue why the guy still showed up), the employee went behind the camera area and stood under my sundeck on his phone. Is that what you're getting paid for? Service visits under 10 minutes while you stand around. There were multiple red flags I ignored and excused but the damage to the pool was the last straw. Despite the timing of the incident, the severity of the water loss, camera footage, and the findings from ABCO, Golden State declined to take responsibility for the damage or assist with replacement costs. As expected: they responded to dodge accountability by saying the vinyl was in brittle condition - this still doesn't change the fact that you punctured my pool. See you in court.

He was originally referred to me first by Bruce Wettstein of Pool Services Technologies in North County, and also by my local Leslie's Pool Supplies. A month ago, I did three separate water analyses to confirm I had high TDS in the pool with terrible water chemistry: high salt at 5,000 ppm, high calcium at 4,800 & high phosphates. All this meant the pool had hard water, calcium scaling on the tile & algae growth despite regular chlorine & shock treatments. Plus, the salt water chlorinator stopped working bc of the imbalance. I'm very happy with Ray's pool filtration service. The process is a great way to conserve water. The cost is competitive with what our pool guy wanted to charge for draining ($200), plus the municipal cost to refill a 15,000 gallon pool ($200-$300). The process only took 14-hours instead of a few days. Plus, the water quality is superb since it's charcoal filtered, UV'd then purified via reverse osmosis. After the filtration was done, the results were immediate & I could see the water was crystal clear. To maintain the necessary calcium & sodium levels in the pool, Ray didn't filter the spa. So I ran the pool cleaner in the spa to remove the algae before circulating the spa water. After running the pool filter for a few hours, everything balanced out. The proof was in the pudding bc as soon as I was done cleaning & circulating, I took a water sample for a Leslie's water analysis & the water chemistry was excellent: low salt at 1300 ppm, OK calcium at 290 ppm & OK phosphates at 100. I couldn't recommend H20 Pool Filtration highly enough. The only downside is the high demand for the filtration service - I had to make my appointment a month ago! And now that summer's arrived, the wait-time for an appointment is 3 months!!

Update (July 2026):…read more Since posting this review, this matter was investigated by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and proceeded to mandatory arbitration, where both David and I had the opportunity to present our evidence to an independent arbitrator. After reviewing the evidence, the arbitrator ruled in my favor and ordered that I be refunded a substantial amount due to the contractor's failure to complete the project and defective workmanship. The award was not paid within the required timeframe, which resulted in CSLB initiating enforcement proceedings and suspending the contractor's license. Only after the license was suspended and enforcement actions began did David satisfy the arbitration award. While I appreciate that the award was ultimately paid, it came only after a lengthy process that included numerous opportunities to correct the work, a CSLB investigation, mandatory arbitration, and license enforcement. I encourage anyone considering hiring this company to perform their own research, review the contractor's CSLB license history, and make an informed decision. My goal in leaving this review is simply to share my experience so others understand what I went through.
