I am not a yelper, but based on my experience here, I signed up specifically to leave a review of my experience with Jake and Mike. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and I've had mechanics make mistakes and then I go back and allow them to fix it. In this case, Mike assured me that he could fix what I was having issues with, and that he's been in business for over 42 years. When I expressed frustration about other mechanics, he made it clear to not compare him to other mechanics. So I took my nice old restored truck in and was charged $695 to fix the valve cover seals and have a few other things done to it. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I opened up the hood to check it out and found fluid was all over the engine and the battery. My expectation for someone working on my engine and charging almost $700 is that you would clean up after the mess that you make. Two days later, my valve cover seals started leaking worse than they had in over a year and oil was leaking all over the place and onto the ground. I called Mike and he told me to bring it in and that he wanted to take care of it, but said he was booked out for the next ten days. I live 30 minutes outside of Bend, and I was under the impression that based on their experience this would be a straight forward job. A week later, I go to start up the truck and it does not start. I know replaced the distributor cap and changed the spark plugs and that those are relevant to spark ignition and combustion. The truck just would not fire up. This has never happened before. Jake said that had nothing to do with why my truck would not start. The reason why I'm giving Mikes Auto Parts 1 star is not just because they didn't fix my problem, charged a lot, and left it a mess, but also because of they way Jake, the mechanic who worked on it, handled it. When I called to say my truck Wouldn't start, he said just bring it in. I asked, How can I bring it in if it won't start? He proceeded to say that the truck is 30 years old. Seems that every mechanic is eager and willing to work on any truck and seeing as they work on old trucks all the time it is such an easy excuse to resort back to the fact that the truck is older. What frustrated me about Jake was he kept calling me sir instead of by my first name which made me feel less like a valued customer and more like some random person that was calling disgruntled about the fact that they botched the job. It was incredibly frustrating that they left my vehicle leaking oil badly and still burning oil on the engine and then not able to start up a week later, and majorly disrupting my schedule and making my wife late to work. Although they both told me to bring the truck in, there was no emphasis on saying we will prioritize it and we want to keep you as a long-term customer and I can totally understand your frustration. Instead, Jake ended up hanging up on me. I did not yell at him, I did not raise my voice, but naturally I had some stress in my tone and he did not take any ownership. Needless to say, I felt I was way overcharged for the work that they did and now my truck is much worse off than it was before I brought it there. They suggested that I need a new engine, and you know what, I may just follow their suggestion and definitely go somewhere else to have the engine replaced. They had an opportunity to earn my business long-term. I had said hey, I'll think about an engine down the road with you guys once I see how your work is with the valve cover seal job. Clearly, it was a very poor reflection of their work and I will never go back. Sorry guys, could just not let the situation go over without letting other people know what to expect. I don't think Mike and Jake have any bad intentions, but they way they executed my job was very costly and dissatisfying. read more

I'm not a yelper but I agree with Ricky V, sometimes you have to speak up and hopefully help someone else. I took my perfectly running truck into Mike to have him install a carburetor that I provided. It was just an upgrade so the truck would run even better. By the time Mike was done with me I had a bad transmission, tork converter, bell housing, linkage and shifter at a cost of $2,950. I now have to take it to a real professional and have the linkage, hoses and shifter fixed at an additional cost of $1,000 I have since discovered that other people have had the same experience. I Needed my engine replaced in my 94 GMC. I asked my Local mechanic/ tire shop for recommendations ( they dont install engines) they said Mike's Auto parts was a great shop. Mike ordered a engine for me from S&J engines of Spokane Washington. Mike ordered my engine with out checking to see if mine was a 2 bolt or 4 bolt engine. It was a 2 bolt, I got a 4 bolt. he said it would be fine no problem. I also asked for new belts and hoses. When I finally got my truck back it was smoking when it sitting and running. I called Mike about it he said it was NO problem, the new engine was burning off oil and that was what happened when a new engine was breaking in. It still was smoking at stop light, drive-ups and any place my trck was sitting. He took it back and said I would have to pay the difference in the shop price S&J would cover $55 an hour and I had to pay the rest. It cost me an additional $400 for them to work It and it still SMOKES !! Oh and the insurance I asked about that cost $250.00. Mike said he did not recommend it because it would be a waste of money. After all he had been using them for over 25 years and never got a bad engine. In order to make this post I have to choose a star. I chose only one star because I could not give a negative number. If you are thinking about this place RUN ! Take your money somewhere you will get what you paid for and not line his pockets with your hard earned money. read more
