I have been here twice. The first time was ok. The second time they cut my hair way shorter than I asked and it was a pretty bad haircut overall. He never asked if he was cutting it to long or short enough he just talked in spanish to the other barbers and pretty much ignored me. They also wouldn't accept the $2 check in coupon on yelp. Why have it on there if you won't take it? I might be more willing to over look it except they charge $19 for a haircut. Overpriced in my opinion. read more

The gentleman that was going to cut my hair was not wearing a mask. I asked him if was going to wear one. He said no. I asked him if he was vaccinated and he said he did not have to say. He finally said no he wasn't and maybe one of the other barbers would help me. I was expecting one of them to speak up and say they would help me, when they were done with their current customer, but both just kind of gave me a blank stare. They heard my interaction and knew I was looking for either a vaccinated barber or one willing to wear a mask. So I left. Yesterday I swung by to see how long the wait was to get my beard trim. I was greeted rapidly and was seated in a chair immediately. While Michelle was trimming my beard I asked if she had time to shave my head, her response was 'of course'. Not only did she trim my beard and shave my head. I also received a straight edge shave around neck, ears and face. And to top off the experience I received a shoulder massage. I was able to meet Mike, the owner. Have driven past this place a thousand times. For a barber shop, it is upscale, clean, and contemporary. There are televisions, and even a little barbershop banter. I was fearful I would stop in and get the token flattop that I seem to remember barbershops for. Boy, was I wrong. Plenty of barbers waiting to be of service. I walked in the door, and before I could even reach a counter to sign in, Joe had me in his chair and ready to do work. I explained what I wanted, and he delivered a precision haircut, styled it to perfection, and even used a straight razor on the neck and around the ears. Finally convinced my husband to head to the barbershop for a "real" cut (aka - not one I give him). The cut he came out with is a good cut - if it was only what he wanted/asked for. He told the guy working the second chair that he usually clippers the sides at a 2, the top at an 8, he would like it tapered, and shorter on the sides. What he came home with is SO short I can't even grab the hair in the front. It's shorter in the front then the top, where the hair is about .5 inch long. read more

He spoke Spanish with another barber the entire visit. I speak English and thought this was rude. Not a long wait, even when busy, they call your number & you grab a seat and one of the barbers gets to work on your haircut. Or if want a specific barber, you can choose, no biggie. This is the only place I let cut my hair, Joe is the barber that cuts my hair and by far I get the best hair cuts from him that I have ever had. Just be advised, don't go when sports are playing or you may be sitting in your chair for an hour as the barbers here pay more attention the the game than the cuts or customers. I give them a 1-star rating ONLY because the cut was descent. Seriously though....sitting there for a cut while the barber watches basketball and only trims/cuts in between plays and commercials is utterly ridiculous. ...My 1st & last time at this place. Being my 1st, I was not given my %20 as it states on the site "Get 20% of your first cut or shave." I went here because Kelly had cut my hair at her place in the past. I was not given the exact address when I called Kelly to see if she was back working again & was just told yes & she was at a place between the Waffle House & Chevron on Higley & McKellips. So, the place I found was Mike's. I went in & asked if they had a Kelly working here & was barked at by a guy at 1st chair "yes & to take a # like everyone else & wait". Strike 1, you don't be rude to customer's regardless. After waiting 30-40 mins, I got Kelly & explained to her I hadn't had my hair cut since Feb 26th because when I was due to get it done in March, everyone lost their mind w/the shutdown. So, she went on to say my other stylist cut my hair wrong & had to do something w/my back to have it lay right. I explained to her I like it to be either rounded or meet at a V shape & not a box cut. As I stated in the beginning, she had cut my hair several times in the past at her own shop before she closed it down & should know what to do. She seemed confused at times while cutting my hair. When finished, I asked if she texturize my hair & she stated she had. I said ok even though it didn't seem like it. I paid the full price of $21 & gave a $5 tip. Strike 2, no 20% off for new customer. Having had errands to run on my only weekday off, I get home around 5:30 & noticed in my bathroom mirror, the back looks like it did when I went to get it cut still. Long & curled outward & not tapered as she knows I like it. I tried calling but, they were closed by 6 apparently because I just got a busy signal. I work w/the public on a daily basis & try to be professional both in appearance & attitude. Bottom line, this is not what I expected for my $. I'm trying to upload a picture of this horrible cut I asked him to blend it better and it seemed like he was agitated with me for asking there is a line at the bottom of my neck that looks like I have a scar. If you are anything like me, you too became tired of those quickie cuts for a few bucks and now are looking for a professional to cut your hair. Located wonderfully next to the Waffle House is Mike's Barbershop. I've been going to Mike's for over 10 months, and have been very pleased each time I've left. Around midday on November 15th I made my 5th visit and opted for the cut and shave. This is how my experience went. The first thing you notice as you walk in is the layout of the shop, very simplistic and always clean. The atmosphere is laid back, you feel as if you just walked into your friends' family room. You'll notice a blank white board, which prompts you to sign in. Acting as a regular customer I ignored the white board and sat down, because I knew the barbers notice when customers walk in, thus mentally taking note of your turn. Usually there are 3 or 4 barbers on the clock and thus there is practically no waiting time, unless you want one particular barber. This time I only waited for a whopping 3 minutes before I was called up. Joe introduced himself as my barber, and asked how I wanted my haircut. I sat there describing how I wanted my chops trimmed, the back hairline square, and no white walls, along with a few other details. Joe simply said, "alright", and went straight to work. While in the chair I noticed a few customers awaiting for their turn, yet despite this Joe cut my hair at a steady pace, I didn't feel rushed at all, and felt like their number one priority. This was my first time I had my face shaved by someone else, and I must say it was quite nice. Somewhere between the warm shaving cream, the hot and cold towels draped on my face along with the quick facial massage, time seemed to disappear. Joe even offered to trim up my eyebrows, and was quite glad he did. Although it was the most enjoyable shave I ever had, it was still a bit weird having a guy rub his hands over my face. After a quick few touch ups to make everything perfect, I received a quick yet relaxing shoulder massage. Joe had me look in the mirror to make sure I was pleased with everything, which of course, I was. If there was something, which they could improve upon, I'd ask them to remove a bit more of the oil after the facial massage and use a tiny bit more shaving cream on the chin. Honestly I can't think of any other thing to complain about. I encourage you to go and try Mike's barbershop; perhaps you'll even meet Mike. read more
