We were SO excited to go here. First off, DONT SIT IN THEIR DINING AREA. You'll be trapped there and the wait staff is SO slow. We went right at opening, only 2 tables taken and it took us 45 minutes to get 2 sandwiches. Meanwhile we saw plenty of other tables come after us and eat before us. The pasta salad had a black hair in it. Gross. We ordered two sprites that never came. The chicken parm was cold in the center (heated up my microwave??) and the top focaccia was SO burnt that we had to ask for a different piece. So they brought us a cold slab without even heating it up. This wasn't a fun eating experience and I would not recommend. The wait staff was pretty irritated and not friendly. Mike's has been a fixture in the food hall for the past 50 years. They have seating for 20, counters of Italian food items, barrels of olives and a large deli counter with sausages and prosciutto hanging. Many stand at the counter ordering take out. We sat at a table with waitress service. The menu seems to be getting larger and more like a restaurant with more reasonable prices. We've always shared a sandwich and salad here, they e always been excellent. Today we noticed some having soup, hot hero's, bowls of pasta, platters of parmagino,, wines, beer and Prosecco too. It's such a tough decision will we share a three tenor hero with smoked mozzarella or the Pavarotti with eggplant. Our focaccia sandwich was huge and is enough for 2 of us. What a treat. Your favorite Italian foods but done right. The ambiance is so comforting, surrounded by different meats, olives, fruits, and vegetables. Everything was delicious, but maybe a little low in salt but nothing we couldn't fix by adding a bit ourselves! We also had their house wine and enjoyed it thoroughly. This entire marketplace is a must visit, but the experience at Mike's Deli ties it together. The ricotta bites also had pancetta which was a pleasant surprise. Yum! read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed Mike's Deli. I've been coming here for decades! I can remember when Dave, Mike's son, had dark hair. It's now a second generation establishment. Sadly Mike passed away a couple years ago. He was a one man show behind the counter. I have so many happy memories here. I'm glad they are still here with the best food and great customer service. There isn't anything on the menu that isn't delicious. There's dozens of the highest quality salumi, prosciutto, and cheeses to take home. Cut to order of course. It is so easy to go overboard, but nothing will be left over once you put it out. A vast selection of olives. He caters. You have to see his antipasti platters, they are almost to beautiful to eat. Great food and the staff are so giving, they kept giving us stuff to try. The fresh Mozzarella and truffle Mac & cheese were to die for. We had the gigi, the Albanian, the chicken cutlet (all sandwiches) and the broccoli rabe soup, all excellent. The ambience was authentic indoor open market style with open seating. The deli is inside a market type grocery store. It is a rustic venue, no frills. There are a couple of meat markets inside and a bar and Mike's deli. My friend and I ordered two different sandwiches and exchanged 1/2 with each other. I have the Paula Dean and she had the El Monte Ram special. Both sandwiches are superb. The atmosphere was friendly and clean. The sandwiches may be a bit pricey but they're packed with meat and other specialties. We'll go back again because it was worth it. read more

First time here , walked inside this mini mall ... not every place was open yet ..late afternoon I walked to the back of this place and saw Mikes deli . It's a very Huge section,sandwich's/ cold cuts , hot prepared foods too like Lasagna, and chicken parmigiana. ℹ ordered they smoked fresh mozzarella , and the ricotta balls w/ sauce ! It wasn't busy when I ordered, it was a Wednesday afternoon, coming from the bronx zoo early in the day! Did a little self guided food tour of the stores of Artur Avenue this morning with a bunch of friends and this was our fourth stop. I don't know how I'm the first to review, because this place has been here forever. Must be some sort of Yelp algorithm misfire. I used to come here fairly regularly when I worked nearby from 1999-2001. The sandwiches were always huge and delicious. Today, I passed on the food, as I had made some other food purchases prior. But I did buy a couple of bottles of their homemade wine to take home. Sweet. Like sangria. Good stuff. read more
