I went into Mikes deli today. I've been coming to Mikes since the early 2000s and they're always been great. But I did notice after Covid the care and love that went into the food is no longer there. I went today to get a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, askthem to toasted bread for me, they didn't. The bread was soggy, they went cheap on the bacon. Ask for mayo salt and pepper. No mayo and barely any seasoning. Idk if the lack of care or they didn't just want to take my order but I don't think I'll be coming back anymore. c&c in crossbay as actually better but a little further. But I'll be going to there next time I want a sandwich. read more

Can't beat the price for he amount of food you get here. The turkey sandwich was delicious and had plenty of meat and cheese on the sandwich. The service was prompt and friendly. It's definitely a mom and pop type of store and they have many regulars there. Tons of street parking nearby as well. read more

My mom and I took a day trip to NY to drop a friend off and spend the day eating & shopping. We came across Mike's Deli for breakfast. It was a great move because its locally owned and was very busy from the moment we stepped through the door. The service was great, food even better and I felt right at home. My mom got the fried potatoes and I got the egg platter. It came with eggs, fried potatoes, rye toast and bacon yummy. It hit the spot for sure. I would recommend Mike's because it is family owned in a neighborhood that radiates family, love and community. Its a quaint little deli with a table or two if you want to dine in. We decided to sit in the car & eat to see the traffic - I mean all types of people came through those doors. The best deli in town. Always so consistent and quick service. Everyone that works here is nice and friendly and more than accommodating. I usually go with an omelette or sandwich but honestly everything is solid. I just recently discovered their egg salad which is made to order and is I swear the best egg salad I've had in my entire life. It tastes like I'm eating deviled eggs. It is hard to find a good deli these days. My friend told me about a local deli that serves delicious and fresh breakfast. The only issue is that it opens at 5 am and closes at 3 pm. One morning I was up early and decided to listen to my friend and give this deli a shot. Upon walking in I was quickly greeted by the polite staff. I am usually a bacon egg and cheese kind of guy, however, my friend told me about the potato egg and cheese on a roll so I decided to get something different. The prices are a little more than a regular deli as they usually have breakfast deals but I didn't care. When I arrived home and took a bite of that roll I was pleasantly surprised as It tasted amazing. If they were open 24 hours they would be the best deli in the neighborhood. Do not expect anything other than an old school Italian deli with big sandwiches and selections you rarely see like Stewarts sodas. The staff is friendly, Mike is retired but still working with the new owner, William, a few times a week. My sandwich was delicious, as was the breakfast selection for the bf. Only gripes, I wish the stayed open later and didn't charge for every little thing..... lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese .35 + each. Definitely a gem of the neighborhood. Take it from a guy who practically grew up on their quality food-- I've been ordering from Mike's for over 20 years! Used to know the old staff of romeo, sal, jimmy and mike, as well as Mike's family when they used to work there. Now that mike is retired, he still works with the new owner, William, and his son, a few times a week. Their sandwiches are always uniform, always hot, always fresh, and yes, always BIG CLASSIC ITALIAN SIZED. Known for their breakfast, if you see a ton of construction workers, airport workers, policemen and firemen, come to eat here before work every morning, then you KNOW its a great place to be! Found this little gem on yelp the night before my fiancé and I had to fly back home and we wanted some sandwiches for the flight...it was a little tough to get to, mostly because it was raining and tons of road work...anywho, luckily there was available street parking when we showed up. Went in and started looking at the menu. I knew I wanted a pastrami sandwich because only New York has *good* pastrami sandwiches, and I broke the rule and added Swiss cheese but so what lol. This place has been around for ever, they're an old school Italain deli that serves the freshest top Quality ingredients. This is the kind of place where they know you by name and like wise. The freshest Italain breads my favorite is the seeded. I can't help it but I get the same sandwich every time I go. The hot roast beef w/ provolone lettuce onion s/p oil and vinegar. The roast beef is made fresh daily and they slice it the way you like. The location is on a pretty major strip, but it's still tucked in a residential neighborhood. But get there before 1pm or they could be sold out. It is an early rise, early closing deli. Their business hours run somewhere between 5:30am to 1:30pm. They're strictly a breakfast and lunch spot and then they close up for tomorrows crowd. Just visiting NY and Mikes is across the street. I've only been for breakfast. Had an egg and cheese omelet, it was made with real eggs, quality cheese and ready in about 3 minutes. The next time I had and iced lemon muffin which was also good, moist and not dry. The coffee though is to die for! $2.00 for a medium (like a large any where else). I've gotten lunch here on multiple occasions while working at JFK airport.. A REAL Deli that will make you just about anything you could want.. You get a filling, real sandwich, not a 'salad on sponge bread' aka Subway footling where your hungry 2 hours later.. Or a greasy bodega special.. So, the sandwiches were delicious. And, I wasn't planning on writing a bad review until I just looked at their Yelp page again. My friend and I called the deli at 2 to ask if they were open. They said yes. The Yelp page says they're open until 3. We paid $8.50 for an Uber, paid an ATM fee bc TODAY they didn't accept the credit cards displayed on the sign as cards they accept, ordered our sandwiches, and sat down. The guy knew we were starving, saw us get settled in to the outside table and begin eating. Not even 10 minutes after sitting down, they cone out and tell us we have to finish eating within minutes. Then kept talking to us instead of leaving us be to eat. Then came back 3 minutes later to tell us we had to go. As we're standing with our sandwiches in our hands, mine shoved into a chip bag, an employee apologizes, but when I tell him that he could've told us they were closing BEFORE we started eating, she says he's just an employee. Just an employee? That means you can't be polite and let a paying customer know that they'll have to get it to go? The other employer apologized. He was genuine. The first was trying to instigate, and his sorry was phony. The owner just stood there and watched it all before walking away. I told the employees not to worry; they didn't need to keep apologizing. I wasn't going to post a bad review. I was slightly mad...and something didn't feel right. We ordered our Uber, and I decided to check the time on the Yelp page; I couldn't believe that I pick a place to eat at that was closing in 20 min. And paid to get there and back. Well, the page says they close at 3. And they DO. They just all wanted to go home. So rude. I don't mind that the edgy attitudes, but you seriously couldn't say, "Hey ladies, we usually close at 3 but today we're closing at 2:38." So yeah...sandwich was good. But ask them what time they're closing before bothering to head over. read more

Mikes is THE best. In a neighborhood that drastically changed throughout the years, its the one comforting constant. I live around the block in a home that my grandmother grew up, then my dad, and now me. Throughout the years the neighborhood has gone from mainly irish and italian, to predominitaley west indian. With that change comes a change in scenery. This is the only actual italian deli in the neighborhood. And the only place I can trust to get a good cold cut sanwhich. All their food options are good. Its a family owned deli. You'll always recognize the faces behind the counter. When you pull up in the morning its swarming with all the local sanitation workers, cops, handymen starting their days off with some good mikes breakfast sandwhiches. This is your usual neighborhood gem. An old school family owned Deli. Very friendly and affordable. Their variety ranges from hot food to sandwiches and hero's. So far I've had the buffalo chicken sandwich and my BF had the Mezzo. My sandwich was good...buffalo chicken, Swiss cheese with tomatoes and blue cheese dressing. It was good very filling. My bf had the Mezzo sandwich which now hes a fan of. The Mezzo has ham, procuito(spelling it wrong) provolone cheese pickles on a Hero. He loves it!! Their coffee is good as well.
