Since my husband and I moved to Cambridge five and a half years ago for his graduate program, we've acquired almost all of our furniture here - everything from a leather couch and armchair set in excellent condition for a reasonable $600 to a gorgeous Crate and Barrel kitchen table for a mere $40. We've also purchased bookshelves, end tables, lamps, desks, and more. Obviously by virtue of fact that the furniture is by donation, there are always going to be some ugly or low-quality items to weed through, but I'd say it's well worth the time. As has been noted, the hours are very limited: currently Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. If possible, I'd strongly recommend arriving promptly at 10, especially on Saturdays: within 15 to 30 minutes of opening, often much of the best inventory has already been claimed.

I had a great experience a couple of years ago when purchasing a dining room table that I have been…read morepleased with, so I returned to purchase a couch after buying my first house in August 2020. I bought a sectional on September 7, 2020 to be delivered in 8-10 weeks. It was delayed from a November delivery to January 2021, and now again to March 2021. That will be 7 months. And I would not be surprised if it was delayed again. The COVID manufacturing delays are killing me so much that I ended up just buying a cheap couch from Wayfair because I was tired of having nothing to sit on in my living room. It arrived in literally 3 business days. It is taking everything in my willpower to not cancel the couch delivery altogether. I wish there was more they could do. I would recommend that anyone who wants major furniture pieces right away to not plan on B&P delivering quickly.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our sectional (for which we purchased the protection plan)…read morefailed. That is, the center section's wood frame snapped and broke. Since we had purchased the protection plan ($265), we reached out to Bernie & Phyl's, who was able to send someone by about a week later. The service tech came out, took photos and pointed out a giant knot in the wood where it broke. He also pointed out that the electric recliner for another section was open about 3/4" (not closing flat), and that springs on the third section (chaise lounge) appeared to be raised. I told him those were not real issues, we were concerned with the collapsed, unsafe section where someone could have been hurt. He let me know we would hear from the service department "within 3-5 days." Given we were on the verge of a holiday weekend, I gave it a few extra days, and then called them. The response I got was, "Oh, yeah, well, you have multiple issues going on with the furniture, so nothing is covered." I said that is unacceptable, this is a serious flaw as pointed out by your service technician. She said, "well you never called about the other 'issues' so that voids your warranty." In our view, those were not issues at all. However, a snapped frame that could have seriously hurt someone is. I asked for a supervisor and was told to talk to Shelly. Long story short, Shelly offered, then un-offered to refund the warranty cost, stating, "well I was trying to be nice but I don't have to be! I'm done!" and hung up the phone in my face. This was after I asked her for her supervisor's name, to which she replied "Kevin {and his last name which I don't want to post here}." I got in touch with Kevin. In fact, he called me back, stating that he was confused as to why Shelly would have given me his name, as he deals with sales. However, he stated that he would get my information over to Sonia, the customer service manager, who would call me. I waited several days and did not receive a call. I filled out the online contact form, explaining the situation, and asking for Sonia to please give me a call to discuss a solution to the sofa issue, and to discuss Shelly's treatement of me. I got a form response electronically signed by Sonia that sounds very much like others' experience here. Here's her response: Hi Heather, Thank you for your email, and I am sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused. I certainly understand how difficult it is to be without comfortable seating in your living room, and I appreciate your patience while we reviewed your concerns. I have reviewed the service findings and warranty determination. While I understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for, the damage noted on the inspection was determined to be the result of accumulated wear and damage over time. Unfortunately, conditions resulting from accumulated damage are not covered under either the manufacturer's warranty or the protection plan. I know this is disappointing, particularly given your loyalty as a customer and the investment you made in your furniture. Please know that we carefully reviewed the information available before reaching this decision, and based on the findings, we are unable to approve warranty coverage for the reported concerns. If you would like to discuss the service findings in greater detail, I would be happy to speak with you directly. Sincerely, Sonia [****] Customer Care Department Bernie & Phyl's Furniture I responded saying that yes, I would greatly appreciate a call back. That was on July 8th. Yesterday, I called the corporate office and was transferred to someone named Hannah. She listened to the whole story, said she would run it by her boss and call me back. She didn't. Today, I called the corporate office again, and spoke to someone who did/would not identify themselves by name. After 18 minutes, she said she would "see if Sonia is available to talk to you." I sat on hold a bit more, was transferred and hung up on. Assuming positive intent, I called back. Four times. Each time, I was hung up on upon pressing 3 to speak to the operator. I have spent thousands of dollars in this store. The sales team in Saugus, MA, is actually really kind and easy to work with. It is a shame that the customer service department is not willing to help customers or to treat others with dignity, as we would have been more than happy and willing to continue shopping there as we did when we purchased an entire bedroom set as well. All this to say, not only is the "warranty" misleading and full of weird loopholes, the customer service department is not a group of people looking to help others. They are straight up unkind and start the conversation with a negative attitude. Kevin (sales manager) was kind and actually said to me, "this is unfortunate. I actually side with you based on what you told me happened," but he has also disappeared from the situation. Shop in another furniture store!

I'll start by admitting I was incredibly indecisive during the entire furniture-shopping process. It had been over 15 years since I last bought furniture, so the thought of making the right choice was both overwhelming and a little scary. I wanted quality, style, and value, and I'm happy to say I found all threat Adams Furniture! I want to highlight the patience and professionalism of the sales associates who helped me. Marco (I hope I have his name right -- green eyes!) was so helpful, relatable, and understanding during my decision-making process. But it was Taha who truly stole the show. From start to finish and even long after my furniture was delivered, his service was nothing short of exceptional. Taha didn't stop helping once the sale was complete. He continued to assist me even after my furniture was in my home, offering ideas for color palettes and helping me figure out the best way to rearrange my living room. When I was considering returning my original purchase for a new arrival, they were so accommodating and explained that while there would be a delivery fee for the exchange, the fact that the option even existed spoke volumes. Many stores don't offer that kind of flexibility. In the end, I decided to keep my original pieces. The furniture is beautiful, reliable, and more affordable than many other places I looked. And the service? Unmatched. Taha treated me like a valued returning customer from the moment I walked in with incredible hospitality and a welcoming approach. He remembered my name, offered snacks and a non-alcoholic beverage during my lengthy visits, and created a warm, welcoming environment that made the whole experience enjoyable. He never made me feel like he was judging me for my indecisiveness or inability to choose something right away. What really says it all is that I actually cancelled an order I had placed at another store because Taha's personable presence, honesty, and professionalism made me trust him and trust the quality of what I was buying. Because of that, he earned my loyalty. Now, almost a month later, I'm still happy with my purchase! Thank you Taha! I can confidently say I'll be coming back here for any future furniture needs. Trust is everything in a big purchase like this, and they've absolutely earned mine. I ended up getting the Draycoll loveseat and sofa recliner by Ashley. One thing I also appreciated was that this review came from my own volition -- they didn't harass me to write a review, which makes this an even more honest one. Lastly, if you are using one of those buy now, pay later options, just make sure to read the fine print and understand the commitment you are making. Happy shopping! September 2025 -Nathalie D

The…read moretotal for the set was $1,800 and the sales person set up payment arrangements so I could pay over 4 months interest free. The payments had to come out as an EFT from a checking account and they would not accept a debit card. Every two weeks for 4 months and the purchase would be paid in full. I made a cash payment of $300 at the time, which was never noted on the receipt. They took that money to pay for delivery and take away of the old mattress. Once the 4 months were up they continued to take payments and when I called the credit company I was told I needed to pay the full amount of $5,000 which was the amount of credit I was approved for on the date of purchase. I refused to pay any additional as I never used the remainder of the credit. They tried again after I put a stop payment on my account, then tried to put a payment through the debit card they refused to use initially. I was made aware on the purchase date that if I did not pay in full over the 4 months that the interest rate would be 50%. Absolutely outrageous!! The credit company tried to negotiate over the phone to get any amount they could to fulfill the total of $5,000. I am still fighting to get the payments back and resolve this matter. My wife and I visited several furniture stores before deciding to shop here, and from the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Brian Lieb. He was extremely courteous, professional, and attentive throughout our visit. My wife had countless questions, and Brian patiently answered every one of them without hesitation. He walked us through the store, explained everything in detail, and made the entire experience comfortable and enjoyable. We ultimately purchased a loveseat, two chairs, and a small table that was perfect for our needs. The table was a floor model offered at 50% off. However, since it was a floor piece, it was not eligible for delivery, so I returned two days later to pick it up. That's where the issue began. When I arrived, Brian was assisting another customer, so I checked in with customer service and was directed to the pickup area. After waiting about 10 minutes, I was told the loading team was on lunch break and that it would take another 15 minutes. Initially, I was understanding, but after 30 minutes, I followed up again and was informed that the table was still on the showroom floor and had not yet been brought to the pickup area. During this time, I noticed other customers receiving large furniture pickups while I continued to wait. After nearly an hour with no clear communication or progress, I became frustrated and decided to cancel the pickup. The refund was processed, and I left feeling disappointed and concerned about the level of service. At that point, I was even considering canceling the entire order. What stood out most was that no one followed up after the cancellation to understand what went wrong. However, the turning point came the next day. Brian personally called me--on his day off, and even on his birthday--to apologize and explain that this situation was a one-time issue. His willingness to go above and beyond to make things right truly stood out and restored my confidence in the company. Because of his effort, I decided to give them another chance and repurchased the table online. There was a minor scheduling error with the delivery date, but Brian responded immediately, corrected the issue, and ensured everything was delivered as requested. He even worked with his manager to provide an additional discount on the floor model. In the end, everything arrived properly and met our expectations. If it weren't for Brian, I would have canceled the entire order. His professionalism, dedication, and genuine commitment to customer service made all the difference. With over 20 years of experience in customer service myself, I can confidently say that Brian is a tremendous asset to the company. Thank you, Brian, for going above and beyond

I'm on the North Shore, so I started out with a trip to "Robert's", thinking I could get what I wanted on the cheap. Unfortunately, that place was a mess, and their furniture was overpriced for what it was. I kept driving down Route 1 and happened upon B&P's. There, I found better options, but at insane prices. I was dejected and turned around to come back North when I spotted the Cort Furniture Outlet sign. I walked in and Jay gave me the lay of the land. He explained the business model - the furniture that gets returned from the rental business ends up there at pretty impressive prices. This furniture was all great quality... it would have to be if it's going to be moved around from rental to rental. I bought a couple of pieces for at least a quarter of what I would have paid even at the lower-quality spot for something brand new. The only potential wrinkle is that delivery is $$$, but the delivery guys were a precision team. My furniture was heavy. Really heavy, but they made quick work of bringing them up a half flight of stairs, positioning them exactly where I directed, and they took off as quickly and quietly as they arrived. I couldn't be happier with the high quality pieces that now anchor my room!
