Omg. From the service to the food to the drink.. this place was absolutely fabulous. The server (I don't remember his name but he had a great easy going personality) broke the ice asking if we really came all the way to Toronto from Los Angeles just to watch the dodgers play there, that he'd much rather go to LA. The weather in Toronto this week has been in the 20's and 30's! The restaurant does serve the dodgers when they are in town! If it's good enough for them... I ordered a Canadian whiskey to start off. It was very nice and smooth. I think it was a Sleeman and sons? Not positive but I really liked it! Then the food. I ordered the first roll from every section. Whoa, the presentation was killer looking. The sashimi cuts were laid out perfect. And the choices of salmon, yellow tail and all were spot on. The pickled cucumbers and ginger mix was tasty, the miso soup so amazing. Steamed rice was perfect of sticky rice to soft and warm consistent with everything else. This place is definitely on more of the upscale side of things for me but I really enjoyed eating here. It's a cool restaurant and our waiter was super attentive and nice. I don't remember my drink but it was very good, not overly sweet. For an appetizer we had the spicy sesame edamame which was great! I can't handle a lot of spice and this wasn't bad at all. My favorite roll by far was the red wave roll, it was so good! Everything was super fresh too. We also had the garden roll and I ordered the aburi oshi sampler. The only one I didn't like was the mackerel due to a stronger fishy taste. But the rest were awesome with the flavors the sauce brings to each. This is first time trying something that isn't the kaiseki menu. I ordered the Chefs selection set which includes: 3 aburi sushi, 2 premium sushi And 3 off-menu items Server was polite and ensured that my dietary restrictions were met. (Thank you Cat!) I had previously come here several years prior and wanted to try their kaiseki menu this year but but I arrived too early so I settled with the chefs plate and was not disappointed. The wagyu pieces were so soft and tender, marbled and very fatty. The red wine sauce was just the right touch and wasn't overpowering, the vegetables were fork tender while still holding shape. The salmon was grilled to perfection. The torched sushi oh my god the torch. I'm an extra char girl so when she made sure the mayonnaise was extra torched for my dietary restriction i was elated. And the fatty tuna nigiri was such a nice surprise. It was the softest tuna I've ever had. The squid with the fruit jelly on top was unique and helped break the char grill with the tart sweetness. Came to Miku Toronto with coworkers for their Winterlicious dinner, and this was my first time here. I don't usually go for high-end sushi restaurants, but Miku has been on my list for a while, so I was genuinely excited to finally check it out. The restaurant is located on the ground level of an office building, but the moment you step inside the restaurant, everything changes. You go from bright, corporate lighting to a moody, romantic space with soft, dim lighting and a refined, intimate ambiance... it truly feels like entering a different world. Bonus points for the complimentary coat check, which is a huge win during winter when everyone is lugging around massive puffer jackets. We were seated in plush, velvety sofa booths near the bar, with a view of the street, which felt both cozy and upscale. Shoutout to our server, Shintaro, who was phenomenal with his warm, attentive, and energetic service, which made the whole experience even better. We started with drinks: my coworkers ordered sake flights, while I went with their signature cocktail, the kumquat cosmo. It was sweet and citrusy, and exactly what I needed on a Tuesday night after work. For appetizers, we all chose the sushi and sashimi selection, which included 9 pieces of chef-selected sashimi, chef-selected nigiri, and aburi oshi sushi. This was chef's kiss. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the sushi and nigiri were perfectly seasoned and sauced, so that we didn't even need soy sauce (though they do have a lovely house-made sweet soy sauce). I ordered the Red Wave Roll just to use their house-made sweet soy sauce... and wow. I've never had sushi that didn't fall apart after biting into it For my main, I went with the roast black cod. It was cooked beautifully, with a tender, slightly chewy texture that was rich but not overwhelming. For dessert, I went with their famously loved green tea opera. It's a small green tea sponge cake layered with matcha buttercream, red bean cream, and a hazelnut wafer crust, paired with a rich, velvety matcha ice cream on the side. Balanced, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, Miku lived up to (and honestly exceeded) the hype. Incredible food, top-notch service, and a beautiful atmosphere. read more

Back for their one off buffet. It was during a snow storm so it was quieter than what one would expect. Service was nice and dishes were actively cleared. Buffet items were diligently refilled. Overall the quality was decent although the selection was a touch limited. Sushi and Aburi sushi was definitely the consistently good part of their offering but that's to be expected given that this is what they specialize in. Highlights include: tuna sushi with truffle on top, sweet shrimp, scallops, their trio of pressed sushi. Other highlights included: ham carving station was surprisingly good as was the prime rib, which was perfectly cooked. In fact, the prime rib was probably the best cooked. I've had in any buffet style prime rib. One small disappointment was they did not provide au jus but two different condiments instead. Those condiments were not liquid based so the prime rib ended up being a bit drier than expected, even though it was cooked perfectly nicely. Pro tip: go to the udon station and use the Curry Wagyu sauce and put it on top of your prime rib. It is incredible. Fried mackerel was nice. Shrimp cocktail was a touch dry. And they probably served a little too much fried food. One surprising part was the desserts which were quite possibly the best part of the buffet. I believe they had the dessert chef from Aburi Hana come and do these as the quality is a way above a normal buffet. Mochi was super soft and delicate. Match crème brule was excellent. The coffee pudding was also incredible. The soft serve ice cream was a little tasteless though. read more

My friend took me out to celebrate my graduation. We ordered 1 of the salmon oshi sushi, ebi oshi sushi, saba oshi sushi, red wave roll, and the miku roll. I enjoyed the salmon oshi and the ebi oshi but didn't enjoy the saba oshi since it had mackerel and tasted too fishy for my liking. The other ones were good but nothing amazing in my opinion. My party also ordered more of the salmon oshi sushi , red wave roll and miku roll as they were favourites among the party. The service was attentive and the waiter would always come by to fill up our water glasses. The interior was nice and upscale which foreshadowed the price of our bill. We were in downtown so I had to cross this one off my list. I will come back here to try their premium rolls, it will take a huge chunk of my bank account but that's okay. I decided to try the spicy salmon roll, for the posh environment the roll wasn't anything special. The roll had a smell to it a fishy smell I didn't like, I liked the nice takeout box, the service was quick I did not have to wait too long. To be honest I think Toro toro is the best sushi I had, if you are looking for ambiance or a date night and something expensive you can come here,I want to come back here to try the premium rolls but I have to save some money. read more

I came here with my friends for Winterlicious! We made an online reservation. When we got there, we checked in our coats and were seated after a brief wait. We got the lunch set - $55 for an app, main, and dessert. I got the Miku Zen, Aburi Sushi Plate, and Green Tea Opera. The staff bringing out the food would all us every time if we wanted an explaination of what each individual item was, and answered all our questions on what else was in the food - really helpful person. The miso soup came first and that was very nice, warm, and salty. The Miku Zen came shortly after, and it was pretty big. I thought it might not have space for my main. The couscous salad was my favorite, next being the tempura and tataki. I thought the beef was a bit too salty, but it still tasted nice. The main came next, and it was good, but some pieces were particularly overpowering, making the next piece taste less. Would've helped to get a recommendation as to the order of pieces to eat it in. Then we got the dessert. My plate had some dried stains on the edge (not touching the food though), which I assume came from dishwashing - maybe they air dry their plates. We came here for dinner on our last night in Toronto because Japanese is one of our favorite genres of food. My husband should have researched the menu more because it is quite limited to just sushi and 4 non-sushi entrees. Parking can be challenging- your only option is the building garage. We ordered unagi nigiri, o-toro nigiri, wagyu striploin, the miku roll, salmon oshi (4 pcs), and aburi oshi sampler (3 pcs). Oshi is pressed sushi. The food came out pretty quick, but we were not impressed- portions were small, the wagyu steak and pressed sushi were blah without much taste and very underwhelming in terms of flavor. The best part was probably the fatty tuna belly & unagi sushi. The prices were astronomically high and not worth it imo. Service was mediocre- definitely could be better. I'm very happy that Miku is just as good now as I remember it being the first time I tried it. While some other Toronto restaurants have now matched their quality, that isn't a bad thing at all. This time, I came for a business lunch, and we got great feedback from our guests from out of town. We tried a number of things, including the tried and true Oshi Sushi. The lunch menu was quite limited - I do wish there were more options, especially from an appetizers perspective. In fact, when I look at the latest menu online, I'm pretty sure there's a chunk missing! It made ordering a bit trickier, as we wanted to share dishes. We ordered the Hamachi Crudo ($25), Hotate Crudo ($26), Miku Select ($38), and a Aburi Oshi Sampler each ($10.50). I was a big fan of the crudos - both had a very unique flavour and weren't repetitive at all. The Aburi Oshi Sampler was great for everyone at the table to try. I did feel like the Miku Select was a bit awkward for sharing, it's more of an individual sampling platter. It does seem worth it though, and a good option for people not sharing. For dessert, we ordered the Green Tea Opera ($17) and Mango Mochi Dome ($16). For $17, I felt the Green Tea Opera was a bit small - I remember it being bigger! I also wasn't the biggest fan of the Mochi Dome, but the other guests enjoyed it. I think it reminded me too much of a marshmallow texture. Overall the food was amazing as always. Took my mom to Miku for their Winterlicious menu. Cant vouch for their normal a-la-carte menu, but the Winterlicious food was so yummy! We started with Miku Zen, and the best part was definitely the miso salmon and tuna tartar. The sashimi was also very fresh. Aburi sushi didn't wow me, but the kaisen don had some really yummy components like the spicy salmon paste. Green tea opera cake was kind of a let down, but I think it's just because I personally am not very into chocolate and matcha mix. Winterlicious is definitely worth visiting once, I'm not too sure about what a normal dining experience might look like there though :) read more

There's no way I could miss Miku's Winterlicious 2024 :) The menu featured similar items to previous LiciousTO events, and the quality certainly didn't disappoint. If I had to nitpick, I would suggest toning down the oil on the Aburi Sushi, but overall, every dish was just as fantastic as I remembered. I am a fan of the Vancouver location and was so happy to find one in Toronto. You must try the salmon oshi. The Ebi fritters were popular with the teens in our group. Came for their 7 course tasting menu for a birthday celebration and left feeling quite full! Each course was plated and presented so beautifully with an in depth description of the menu itself. My personal favorite was the wagyu steak but it was overly drenched in sauce and too salty for my liking, which masked the natural flavor of the wagyu. While everything tasted good, there was no wow factor for any of the courses which may have just been my unrealistic expectation considering the price of the meal. The whole meal lasted around 2 hours which I enjoyed being able to savor each bite and the dining experience in itself. I think the money was more worth it for the experience than the food and would personally like to try their sushi and rolls (rather than a tasting menu) next time I get to visit. Oh Miku. I was looking forward to coming here to celebrate! And I was not disappointed. For appetizer, we ordered the wagyu carpaccio. This was presented beautifully. The wagyu was placed on top of a pickled veggie and decorated delicately with flower petals on each piece. The star of the show was definitely the salmon oshi. We also ordered the Miku roll, salmon sashimi, o-toro and unagi nigiri. All of these tasted so fresh! No fishy after taste at all. The green tea opera and matcha latte were delicious (and importantly not too sweet). They also decorated the ice cream beautifully as well. It doesn't mention this on the menu, but our waitress informed us when we ordered. I would still recommend it as the presentation of the food was spectacular. The taste was also superb. I had dinner with a party of 7 during a profession conference in early June. Miku was just up the street from our hotel, and we were not disappointed. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Our server was fast, polite, and knowledgeable regarding the menu. We all had drinks and ate appetizers and sushi family style, with our server offering suggestions as we went. Everything was fantastic. This is not an inexpensive place to eat, and my boss got a hefty bill by the time we were done, but for seven people it was fair - we also benefitted from the exchange rate :-) In any event, this place is wonderful. They were especially accommodating regarding my gluten allergy. Everything was literally melt in my mouth delicious. In the top 5 sushi restaurants that have ever tried. After a small hiccup at the beginning of my time there (I think that they forgot to assign a waiter to my table) they apologized profusely, my service was spectacular, and they now have a repeat customer. The Valentines Kaiseki was phenomenal, was able to try things I've been meaning to try like Foie Gras, Wagyu, King Crab and Uni! It was fairly pricey for a really long service so... not sure if I'll be coming back but the experience was worth the try! I didn't enjoy it as much as we were seated right beside where the servers pass regularly to go into the kitchen, the ambiance killed it for me as well as how long it took to get each course when others were getting it right away. Our bill came up to $420 minus tip. Imo, if I'm paying that much, the service and ambiance should be to the T. I appreciate those things in a restaurant almost as equally as the food. I've had better experiences in places that are 1/4th of the price. I'm sure we got unlucky with the seating and given its Valentines Day and all... which was a bummer for us. read more
