This was my new favorite spot in town, even brought my friends along a few times. In the last few months, the customer service quality and actual service quality have gone DRAMATICALLY downhill. My nails used to last 2-3 weeks, now they barely last 2-3 days before they look bad, tips are falling off or lifting. This was brought up and I was told it's my own fault (when this has never happened before), didn't even get a half-hearted apology or rectification. When asked to correct these issues in the moment, they pop an attitude and act like you're asking for something insane. Even the little things like cleaning up underneath the nail - didn't happen. The pricing on the website is either incorrect or they just make up prices as they see fit. As I was charged more for a fill than an entire new set, when questioned they acted like I was dumb. Not a good vibe. Save your money/energy and go somewhere where you pay for what you get. read more

Had mani pedi done - went to lunch right after --thumb messed up and nails already chipping off!!! Went back to ask for a gift check to return at a later date that I couldn't have it redone then - was told it was my fault didn't dry long enough . I sat for over 15 minutes under the UV heat light when completely done- it says right on the dryer the nails will be completely dry !! I really wanted to like this nail salon. The atmosphere is pretty nice--clean, comfortable chairs, nice staff, and complimentary beverages. The prices are also fairly reasonable. However, the manicure I received was one of the worst I have had in awhile.My nail polish is nice, but my the skin around my cuticles has peeled nonstop causing sensitivity and bleeding. I have tried cuticle oil, lotion, etc, and things have still been bad for a week. I realized something was probably wrong when one of my nail beds started bleeding at the salon. I have since read that all of this can happen of the nail technician trims off too much of your cuticle. As a result, my cuticles look far worse than they did before I went for a manicure. As nice as this place looks, unless you know a technician personally I would avoid it. I would have rather paid a bit more and gone to Zen or another higher quality salon. read more

I went here yesterday with my mom to get a mani pedi went in at 5:45 for my appointment at 6 and got in right at 6. We did not get out of there until a little past 8:30 WHICH IS OK!!! But after looking at my nails today I'm extremely disappointed some nails are as thick as could be and some are thinner, there's a lot that are lopsided and jagged and I asked for a certain shape and got something different. Just very disappointed that I went somewhere to get these done and they look like something I could've done myself. The workers were so nice though and the sweetest people ever so I feel very bad about saying bad things about this place. Started going here after I stopped going to another local nail salon. This place blew me away and continues to! I get the dip and they have great colors and an amazing variety! At most places that I've gotten dip at it goes on REALLY THICK which was a reason why I didn't like the dip. Here it's just like normal polish and last the typically dip time! The staff is amazing and they all do a great job and have a huge attention to detail. I recommend this place to everyone! On top of all of this the salon is super clean and never loud! -Edit to original review- Several of my nails had the polish chip off and start to peel on the sides less than a week after I got my gel manicure. I didn't do anything exceptionally rough with my hands in that week either to make it perhaps understandable that it would chip so recently after I got it. I was disappointed since I had had such a great experience with the service when I was there. I walked in on a Thursday morning and was helped right away! They have a computerized check in where you select the service you would like and can see all your options and prices. They have lots of chairs and all are easily within view of the TVs they have so I was able to catch up on my HGTV! The man who did my nails was friendly and very attentive and made sure he had the length and shape just how I wanted. He applied multiple coats of polish and touched up areas that needed it. I was in and out in less than an hour! I got a shellac gel manicure and it was $27 before tip, which I felt was reasonable for the area. They called letting my friends and I know that we should come at 2:15 so they could help us before they would get a rush of people. When we got there they let three girls pass before us and by the time 3 rolled around they just started on the girls nails and told us we would still have to wait 15-25 more minutes. They do not let their customers know that they are busy instead they just let their clients wait for hours! Do not come here in a time crunch because they will lie to you. I have been here on three occasions now to try out their various offerings and give them a chance to show their stuff. I won't be returning but my advice, if you are going, is to stick with the bottom package. It's still a bit pricey for the area, it's adequate. Don't get the upgraded packages for the fancier pedicures. I've tried both now and both times the nail techs rushed through. To finish the job faster, this last time he nail tech even rushed the painting so my nails looked like I had tried to the the job myself at home. Stopped into Milady for an afternoon with my sister and we were absolutely wowed by the size and cleanliness of this salon! The perimeter of the large space is lined with high-quality pedicure chairs, then there's a row of nail tech stations, and in the middle of the space is a large pillar mounted with tvs. I've also never been to a salon where the check-in process is via a kiosk, and loved that feature since it allowed us to select the service and pricing we wanted up front and without pulling a technician away from a job he or she was working on. The only down side was the guy who did my pedicure - he was a little creepy to be completely honest. He kept chiming into the conversation my sister and I were having, asking if we had gotten wasted the night before (noope, not even close), and when one of his fellow female technicians walked past him, he did a major creeper-glance back at them. Inappropriate. He did a great job on my pedicure, just creeped me out a bit. But, of the nearly ten technicians there it was clear that he was the anomaly and my sister loved her technician. I had a weird experience here several weeks ago. The lady that did my pedicure did not say one word or look at me the entire time I was in the chair. The pedicure seemed rushed even though there was only one other customer there having nails done with plenty of staff present. I have never experienced this before, it was very awkward. The place is clean, and staff upon arrival were courteous. The pedicure fortunately turned out good, but the experience was so uncomfortable that I most likely won't return with so many other salons in the area. read more

Seemed okay when I got there, the place was clean and people were friendly. My pedicure took almost 90 minutes, the guy kept sort of spacing out while he was doing it. He spent no time filing my nails or making sure they were straight. He used the grater and ended up slipping and cutting the back of my heel. He pulled one of my nails out on the side, instead of cutting it, and it started bleeding. Then on the other nail, he dug so deep around the edge, causing a lot of pain. At 3 am the next morning I was woken up by severe pain in this toe, now I'm on antibiotics for an infection. I could have given myself a better pedicure! Save your money, go somewhere else. Don't think the lady took time on my nails, I got them done last Thursday 02/24/2023 and they have all fallen off 02/28/2023 I don't do much so for them to fall off this fast is crazy. My nail appointment was at 11:30 and I left around 12:45 I tipped $4 and I'm not even sure a 4$ tip was worth it if she did NOT care to work on my nails properly. Almost as if they were press on nails, Won't be coming back again unless something has changed. I am very happy with my visit. All of the employees were very kind and welcoming. They had a lot of safety protocols in place to protect themselves and customers against COVID. BEWARE! They do not clean the pedicure bowls between customers! YUCK! When I was seated, the woman next to me finished up her pedicure and was seated for a mani. Sure enough, they seated a different woman next to me within minutes for a pedi---and the bowl was NOT cleaned!! I then watched during my pedi and drying to confirm my findings, and two other customers were seated where other pedis had just finished and nothing was cleaned. On top of that was the poor quality of the pedicure. They rushed through the entire pedicure in 20 minutes. Only spent a short amount of time (15-20 seconds per foot) on calluses. My cuticles were never done, and really needed it since they hadn't been done since COVID began. The paint job was sloppy, really sloppy, I asked for a spa pedicure,the lady doing my nails seemed very annoyed she had to do that. When someone is spending 100$ ($96 to be exact) you shouldn't tell them no when they ask for you to trim their cuticles. They started closing at 6:30 pm and the lady told me if we had time she would do my cuticles which she did not. Wouldn't shape my nails when I asked. I hope your staff got to wherever they were going because they we ready for everyone to be gone an hour before you "close". I've been here many times and I really liked the gentlemen and lady that did my nails the last few times. You need to have more consistency in your staff. Myself and two other friends went there to get mani pedis. We made an appointment to be sure that they'd be able to see all of us at thee same time. When we arrived they didn't have record of our appointment and they started asking us to come back later until one of the staff members had said that they had taken our call and just hadn't written it down. We waited for over an hour, it was very busy. One of the technicians that did our pedicures was wonderful, she took her time on my friend and did a wonderful job. But the other technicians rushed through everything and were with us for maybe 15 minutes. When we got our nails done the only man that was working was doing my brand new set of acrylics. It was awful. He pulled my arm so hard and far over the table that my face was inches away from the plexiglass partition. He kept digging his nails into my cuticles painfully. He didn't clean my nail beds properly before applying the acrylic. The nails were so lopsided and badly done that one of the other women had to take over and almost completely redo them. She did a very good job and was gentle and delicate with my hands while she worked on them. I got them done three and a half days ago as of this review and I'm already having separation at the cuticles so I'm going to have to go and get those fixed. My shellac service was fine... average actually, but the pedicure sucked. It was painful half of the time, I thought she would be able to tell I was extremely uncomfortable with how hard she was Buffing my feet and exfoliating the shit out of my legs and the tops of my feet... but no. She either didn't notice or didn't care. I told her multiple times as I pulled away that I was "sensitive" (just trying to be nice) it was the least pleasant experience I've had getting a pedi. I decided to give them a try while waiting for my car to be serviced next door. All I needed was a acrylic nail fill with gel polish. They were nice and service was good. The polish started peeling three days later. I went to have it fixed and they were nice and it was quickly fixed. However, it began to peel again a day later and the nail is actually now just chipping off. I've never experienced this with any of my acrylics in the past. I get my nails done every 2 weeks at a different salon in the area. A week ago I went to Milady for an acrylic fill and gel polish as my normal salon was closed for the day and I was heading out of town. The original quote was a bit higher than I was accustomed, but not unreasonable. The technician was AGGRESSIVE with my nails/cuticles- in places she ground completely through the acrylic to my real nail and torn up my cuticles so bad that they are still snagging. The fill is incredibly lumpy and thick. The acrylic must be very low quality as one nail broke on day three and anther on day five. Normally one fill with a low quality acrylic wouldn't be such an issue, except that she had filed away all of the good original base. The polish job was mediocre at best- it is uneven with light spots and all over my (now) crappy cuticles. The top coat was even worse. I asked for a matte finish - it looks nothing like a typical matte- it looks like I stuck my freshly gelled nails info acetone or a heavy duty cleaner. They look dirty and grungy. To add insult to injury, I was charged an additional $5 for the matte finish. By the time I got home, there were multiple bubbles forming in the gel and it was not set as it is still somewhat soft and tacky. Not impressed at all. read more

I was incredibly displeased with my experience here. I visited this nail salon because I did not have a stellar experience at the last one I visited, but oh how I have changed my mind. The person that saw me tugged and twisted at my fingers a number of times to the extent that I cried out in pain inadvertently. In the process of preparing my nails she cut me and drew blood. She did not sterilize the instruments she used after my blood got on them and seemed peeved with me when I said something about bleeding. Also, my finger is STILL bleeding as I write this review. They were NOT above board on pricing and told me my treatment would be 20 dollars less than the price they originally quoted to me. I was not offered a drink and the person who worked with me did not bother to converse with me at all, but gossiped the whole time with her coworker, which was lording over me the entire 30 minutes we were there. Solely on the basis of health and sanitation I would not recommend this place. The service aspect of the experience was also COMPLETELY lacking. I stopped into Milady for the first time yesterday with my best friend, first walking in it was adorable. Plus the kiosk helps you know exactly how much you're paying for your service, although it didn't say anywhere in the front that it would charge to have my shellac taken off, it had a sign on the drying area saying so. Our pedicures were awesome, we both had the normal pedi and they were great, my friend had the young looking one (didn't catch her name) and she was great! She would talk to us or make jokes with us, mine on the other hand did not seem to speak English, which is fine except we had a hard time communicating that she was hurting me (over filing on my toe nails and I had hip surgery just over a month and a half ago and she was very pushy with my legs and didn't give me a chance to pick up my surgical leg before pushing that foot back into the bowl), and whether or not the towels around my legs were too hot. Our pedis and technicians were overall really good, our manicures on the other hand were less than to be desired. My friend's tech was rude and seemed very rushed, and her acrylic nails show it, uneven, different lengths, and when my friend told her there was a smudge the woman was very rude about fixing it. My woman was very rough with my fingers, filing down my skin and not my nails, pulling my arm/hand rather than asking me to reposition, and when she discovered I had shellac still on my fingers she rolled her eyes, went back for a different bowl to put acetone in for my nails to soak in and while I sat there with my fingers in a bowl she went back to play on her phone. She only put on two coats of polish and I can clearly see my natural nail underneath, plus no second coat around the edges, and lots of smudges. I paid before getting my nails painted since it was just polish and my total came to be $43.25, I gave her $50 and left my wallet out expecting change, but she didn't give me any. I asked for a receipt thinking that I had missed a charge, since she didn't give me one, and in the "change" area was $6.75. I decided not to make a big deal about it because I would have ended up giving both my pedi and mani techs a couple bucks, but they still assumed I would be giving that much of a tip- I hope that she split is evenly between the two of them and not just pocket it all for herself. Overall I would probably return if I were in that area getting food at Olive Garden or HuHot but I definitely would not make the trip from Cedar Rapids again just for a service there.
