Asked how much pink & white dip would be including removal of acrylics and the gal at front desk quoted me $48. Got done and it was $56. My nail tech said she was wrong and got pissy with me. Typically I do not get my nails done from them. Went there since needed to get my nails done for a wedding. The lady seemed to be an extreme hurry. The whole experience was average. My gel nail polish chipped after a week. This has never happened to me before. I will not be going there again. read more

Using another name to remain anonymous on this review. I am VERY unhappy with this nail salon. I have gone here numerous times and have never had any problems. However, I went in today to get a manicure and pedicure. Both combined was over $100. When I went to check out, the lady took my card and asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said I would tip in cash. I signed the receipt and put a line through the tip amount. All I had was $10 in cash, which I believe is plenty of a tip for nails. I handed her the cash and she asked if I had tip money for the lady that did my toes. I said that was all the cash I had and she proceeds to point to the line on the receipt and told me to add more money there. Telling a PAYING customer to add more TIP money is outrageous!!!!!!! A tip is NOT REQUIRED. I have seen other reviews of this salon having this problem before. I highly recommend avoiding this nail salon unless you want to get scolded for not tipping enough. I will be taking further action to the better business bureau if this does not stop. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

I used to LOGE this place more than anywhere in Iowa City area. Now I will NEVER go back. I went with my boyfriend for a double pedicure, double manicure (he keeps me company and doesn't do polish). This establishment is RACIST AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE. If you are a yt woman who goes here, you are complicit in racism by giving them your business. Do better. A black woman came in from Cedar Rapids area asking for gel on her natural nails and removal of the acrylic she had on. They tried to tell her that they "couldn't do that because their acrylic tech wasn't in." That's baloney. You didn't need an acrylic tech in for that. I spoke up and tried to explain what she wanted because I was thinking it was a language barrier (I'm a yt woman and didn't realize Asian owned nail salons are frequently racist towards black people). They tried to tell ME and the woman that they can't put gel or dip on top of nails that have just had acrylic. Wanna know how I know this is a lie? I researched after this event to make sure. AND THEY DID A GIRLS NAILS LATER WHO CAME IN WITH ACRYLIC IN BUT SHE WAS YT. They absolutely ruined this innocent woman's day over race and I will never support them again. I went here 2 weeks ago and service was great and I was impressed with how many staff they had working. I went back yesterday at 6pm for a fill and they told me to come back tomorrow since they close at 7pm. I was surprised, but understood since there were 3 people waiting already. So today I left work early to avoid any rush and got there before 4:30 and AGAIN I was told to come back tomorrow. I won't be back TOMORROW. They just lost a customer. read more

First timer and I LOVED the Dlux!! Upon entry, Dlux is clean, elegant, and pleasant. I got paired with Van and she was amazing. Originally I wanted Ombré nails but I instead wanted to try a Picasso nail design I saw on Pinterest. I was a bit skeptical because it looked challenging but as you can see she did a BEAUTIFUL job as you can see in the photos! She didn't mind trying the design and nailed it (pun intended). The price was also way better than other places would have charged. Met a mother and daughter who come here regularly for their mani pedis too! Highly recommend it!!! read more

Stopped by Dlux for a pedicure and manicure while visiting Iowa City after a long day- I am blown away and might even prefer it over my regular nail place back home! Prices are very reasonable, staff is excellent. I was asked if I was comfortable during services, offered a drink and asked more than once if I was fully satisfied before leaving. The pedicure was the best I've ever had! Very clean, all tools used were opened new out of one time use packaging. 10/10 will be returning when I'm in the area! read more

Very poor customer service, the staff are very rude and unhelpful. The services are very slow and low quality. They have zero skill in what they do but being rude has nothing to do with their skill. Also while I was there, I noticed an obvious racism against a black lady, they were trying to kick her out just because she was black! The staff are Asian, I don't know maybe they do not like black people, but racism is not acceptable in a professional environment. I do not recommend at all! read more

Came here with my friends and we all got shellac manicures, and while they were a great price (only $25 with a cash discount too), I have cuts around my cuticles and nail beds that are very painful and the gel polish wasn't cleaned up well. I have polish around my nail that doesn't look very neat and the clear top coat was poorly applied so I can tell where there is/isn't too coat. While the price was great, the salon was very clean, and there were great color choices, i'm disappointed in the end results. We called and made an appointment a week in advance. When we got there it was so clean. We were the only ones in there due to Covid. They sanitized everything we touched before and after our services which was nice to see. The owner told us typically they were closed on Tuesday's but made an exception for us so they could keep clients separated appropriately. Very nice experience and quality work. I went here a couple times and they did a good job with my nails. However, the first time I went there, they told me there were no nail techs who could do acrylic and asked me to get dip nails. I went along with it but later realized the dip (which wasn't what I wanted) ended up costing more. The second time, I made an appointment (which was challenging and time consuming because they don't take phone calls and instead text you so that you make the appointment via text) and they sat me down with someone who was going to start doing dip nails again. I asked again for acrylic and they made me wait for the only tech who could do acrylic. Then, two weeks after that, I tried to make an appointment by texting their number and never got any response at all. I don't think I'll be back to this place. read more

Great service, reasonable prices, and clean facilities! Dlux has been my go-to nail salon for a while now, I can't believe I haven't written a review before! I've been very impressed with the service I've had here each time I've gone. I've never had a hard time making an appointment - I'm usually able to call even an hour ahead and make one. They do also accept walk-ins though. They have a huge selection of colors too! I don't think I've been to a salon with such a wide selection before. Typically I get no-chip manicures and have good success with them. One time when I chipped my polish in the first week after I got them, I called to see if they could do a repair and they did free of charge! I really appreciate the great service. I just got dip done by them for the first time and so far am really happy! The color turned out great and the nails are very neatly done. Their facilities are clean, which is especially important now in Covid times. All the staff wears masks and most also wear face shields. They also have barriers in between where they sit and where the customer sits. I feel safe getting my nails done here! I also appreciate the cash discount they offer, but they also accept credit cards and even Venmo - which is super convenient! read more

Terrible customer service. They don't take appointments. Showed up with my kids. As soon as we entered, they asked how they could help us. I said we needed manicures and pedicures. Mind you, these are 7yo boys and a 14 yo girl, so really basic stuff. They said they don't have enough staff to accommodate all of us. I said: ok. How many can you accommodate? She went around and came back to tell me that they want us to go look somewhere else. So, we left with no fuss. But, 2 ladies who looked different from us entered as we were leaving, and they had enough staff for them. I am not one to cause a scene in front of kids, so we just left. I wanted a quick pedicure done before I went to work, but this was not the place to go. I had to wait 40 minutes before anyone even started on me. If they are too busy, they shouldn't keep taking customers. Hire more staff. Also, they can do a way better job cleaning/staying sanitary. Towels were dirty, smelled gross, & pedicure chairs were dirty from the previous person. It's really difficult to fine a good/quality nail salon around here. Any recommendations? The girl doing my nails got mad when she noticed that I had very short nails and when she kept moving and touching my nails while doing them she got mad at me for them being messed up. She also criticized me for getting a normal manicure instead of gel and said that she "didn't really care" if I messed them up.
