We have been neighbors in Pinecrest and loyal customers of Milans for over 10 years. Although it's not the cheapest option, we have always chosen to shop here for the convenience and the good service we used to receive. Unfortunately, last night we had a very unpleasant experience with a new manager who displayed a rude and arrogant attitude. We went to return two expired products (a sausage and a loaf of bread, both sealed and unopened) and simply asked for store credit to exchange them. We were told that under new policies, such returns are no longer accepted. When we asked to speak with the manager, his response was that they "don't sell expired products" and that he was there "to make money, not to lose it." We explained that we have been customers for years, that this had never been an issue before, and that their suppliers accept sealed, unused products. Nevertheless, he addressed us disrespectfully, stating in front of my family that "his job is to make the business money, not to make people happy or let them do whatever they want." We find this way of treating loyal customers unacceptable. This is not a complaint against Milans as a store, but against a specific supervisor/manager who needs proper training to understand his real role: building and maintaining good customer relationships. Stopped by Milam's Market and honestly had a great experience. The staff was amazing. I went to the deli counter and waited maybe a minute or two super fast. The guy who helped me was awesome and clearly knew his stuff. I asked him for a cheese recommendation, specifically something I could just eat by itself with no crackers, no bread, no extra effort. He immediately recommended Muenster cheese... and wow. He let me try it, I took one bite, paused for a second, and literally said, "That's it." No further questions needed. He nailed it. I grabbed it, checked out, and was on my way very satisfied (and slightly obsessed with Muenster now). On top of that, the store has a really nice selection of specialty cheeses, fresh fruits, and other unique items you don't always see everywhere. If Milam's market was closer, I would probably frequent it more often. Yes it's a bit higher priced than my regular supermarket but the variety and the quality stands out. What gets me to drive there regularly though is the prepared foods. Yes I know that is easy enough to make my own chicken salad and my own egg salad but somehow I just enjoy the taste of theirs. Their meat selection is excellent and when I buy a prime steak at Milan's, it is the same quality that I get at a fine restaurant. The seafood is always fresh and I especially like to buy my stone crab there when it is in season because it is usually on special, so it is both affordable and exceptional. The score is well organized and quite clean and has many spices and especially barbecue rubs that I cannot find anywhere else. The staff is courteous and they make themselves more accessible than staff at other markets; really quite a nice place to shop. read more

I have been shopping at Milam's Market in Pinecrest since they opened several years ago Management has always been wonderful and I have enjoyed shopping there all these years. Today I had a sad experience that will keep me away at least for a while. They advertised free eggs from the 11th through the 17th. At 9:30 am today, Sunday the 14th they had none of the eggs advertised and would not give me a comparable. I received an unreasonable and rude reply from management who asked me to just keep coming back... This is a scam and false advertising. Sad to see Milam's steep so low with its faithful customers. A phenomenal grocery store in the heart of Pinecrest! I requested a certain flavor of the Poppi drink - Cranberry Fizz, my sister had introduced me to this flavor. I went to my grocery store, Milam's in Pinecrest. Even though they carry the Poppi brand this flavor was not on the shelf. I went to the customer service desk and requested this flavor and in a couple of weeks, I had a text message from Mr. Max Milam letting me know that he was able to get this flavor in. I was delighted to hear. He then verified the store, and it had actually gone to the Coconut Grove store instead of the Pinecrest store. This next gesture of care for the customer, went above and beyond in my opinion. After hearing that it ended up in the wrong store, Mr. Milam had informed me that "he had a merchandiser going down there to Pinecrest today, so he picked it up at the Grove and put it on the shelf in Pinecrest. It's on the shelf now! Have a great weekend. Thank you for choosing to shop with our family business.." Mind blown! Truly! You will not find this level of customer care anywhere else, anywhere!! It is because of the quality of care from every single employee that works in this Pinecrest store, no matter the position you hold. You the associate cares and it shows in your work ethic and mannerisms. This supermarket is incredibly good. Way better than Publix and cheaper than Whole Foods. This supermarket always has fresh top quality produce and a top shelf quality meat department. I've never seen someone so aggressively pack groceries in my life. This female African American bagger with short hair seemed to be personally offended by every item I purchased, smashing my bread under a can of beans and then acting like it was my fault. I swear my eggs were cracked on purpose. Each bag was a chaotic mix of frozen, fragile, and heavy items, as if she was playing some kind of twisted Tetris game with my food. Staff are always around to help customers, and are friendly and helpful every time we've needed to find something or need a recommendation. I love coming to this market for special cold cut turkey products and their cheeses. It's more of a but upscale market that just has fabulous products and fresh seafood options. Their deli selection of meats, salads, and more are killer too. They also have really nice orchids and other flowers to purchase. He has knowledge on the best cuts of meat in every price range and takes extra time to prepare cuts that I specifically come to Milam's to find such as prime filet or harder to find boneless short ribs. They have a great selection at their deli with very fresh and tasty meals. I also love their seafood section which for me has the best cocktail shrimps and stone crabs. I came for pasta, which they have from Barilla and Mueller to fancy Italian varieties. For toothpaste their offer ranges from Colgate and Crest to Burt's Bee and Jason. It's rather shocking, I was surprised by how theirs little to no walking room . Everyone is on top of each other especially in the fresh fruit section.I could barely move my cart. The service was awful none of the staff greeted me besides the manager Geo. One Hispanic girl was putting prices on items and she was the worst, she forced her way between a customer and the products. "Excuse me" would've worked. Classical music while grocery shopping and a FANTASTIC wine selection... Count me in! I've been heading to Milam's more and more frequently. It really is such a nice grocery store. Yesterday a few friends and I decided to pop-in to pick up a fantastic sale - Wild caught Stone Crabs $19.99 / lb the sale had been running all week and it was the last day so we wanted to snag the deal before it was over. Everyone at Milam's is so so friendly and helpful - you can tell they are big on customer service. The Employee in the seafood department asked what we wanted and said we could come back for it after we finished the rest of our shopping, he even offered a bag of ice to make sure everything stayed perfectly cold. I passed by the Sushi section, since I usually like to take a peek at what they have. The sushi at Milam's is so fresh and they have a wonderful selection for pretty awesome prices. I've tried here Spicy Tuna Roll ($6.99) it is delicious and filling. This time I opted for a specially roll ($12.99) that was wrapped in rice paper and stuffed with fresh crab meat, salmon, tuna , cucumber and avocado. So fricken yummy, I didn't even need to add any sauce to it. As we were walking out I was tempted by the adorable macaroons (2 for $3) that are strategically placed along the checkout aisle. I ended up getting 2 pistachio macaroons since those are my fave. They come refrigerated, but I let them sit out for a bit before enjoying them. Milam's is on the pricy side but you can find pretty good deals on specialty foods and good wine. The one negative - every time I walk into Milam's there is a strong, unpleasant smell right at the front entrance. Yesterday when we took our friend for the first time, she noticed right as we stepped in, she took a whiff and said it smelled dirty. It reminds me of the fish department smell at Sedanos - Not pleasant at all and definitely below the standards that Milam's has set for themselves. read more

Beautiful store. I know this used to be Whole Foods but it didn't disappoint. Just as I expected Milam's to be. Only thing I would say is that it was a little confusing finding the baked goods. I expected all of the sweets stuff( as I love sweets) to be by the bakery but I had to walk around the entire store. They had the cookies and cakes all in the front which didn't make sense to me which I found after going around the entire store. Other than that, it was fine. When I die I want to get buried here, or maybe spread my ashes on the produce area! I have never waited a line, and never felt more important. The staff is amazing and the store is ridiculously clean. The sandwiches are made by a angel or Jesus himself. The frozen section has heaters so you don't get cold (not joking). Even the shopping cart selection is amazing... no shopping cart has a wheel issue, they all roll as if your on ice. Plus they have a police car, fire truck, and racing car shopping cart for the kids.
