Good to know, noted for future reference. Last night, I started having a toothache but being a stubborn kind of guy, I thought I would gut it out and everything would be just fine. I certainly didn't want to spend my last holiday vacation day going to the dentist. Just in case it got worse, I sent a FB message via Messenger around 1AM looking to get a response by the time I woke up in the morning. Surprisingly, someone responded within a few minutes. Well done, social media and a late night almost instant response. Scored points with me for sure. But I didn't sleep very well because of the toothache so at 5am, I set up an appt with my regular dentist online through his website. I called him an hour before just to make sure we were good but it turns out he was out of town and his staff didn't update his availability. Great! Went to the notebook on my phone and looked up the guys who got all the kudos and accolades. I looked up their reviews (all positive), looked up where they went to school and when they graduated (local guys), and etc. Someone on FB Messenger told me that the office was open at 9am and if I wanted to set up an appointment, they would be happy to take care of me. I called them after finding out my regular dentist wasn't in town and they gave me an appointment for three hours later, on a Sunday! I went in and they followed good social distancing practices, the place was clean, and the doc, Junoh Kim, walked me through everything that was going to happen, during, and after. He answered all my questions with pleasure and patience, no attitude, no judgement, no preaching, which is always appreciated. There wasn't anyone after me but he took his time, didn't rush through the process, and it was generally a good experience, considering it was a visit to the dentist on a Sunday during Thanksgiving weekend. I definitely recommend KW Dental and not that I look forward to the next visit, but I know that I will feel comfortable going to these guys in the future. 2020 is a weird year and businesses are all being affected so wanted to make sure to call these guys out for their good patient services.

I explained all my recent serious health issues that prevented me from seeking care sooner. He was so understanding and caring. Though he could not start the work yet as he had patients waiting. She went above and beyond to fit me into her already packed schedule because she knew I was dealing with tooth pain that needed attention before I left for vacation. But before I dive into how brilliant Dr. Lin was yesterday, I want to give a bit of backstory. Dr. Lin was supposed to do my root canal three weeks ago. At the time, she managed to squeeze me in for an emergency consultation and told me to return after the weekend for the procedure. Then, as luck would have it, Dr. Lin fell ill and had to be hospitalized. Her staff called me to reschedule and kept me updated while she recovered. Then, the office had to close for a weeklong renovation. Naturally, I started to worry I'd have to leave for my vacation with a tooth infection. Thankfully, Dr. Lin's staff reassured me and fit me in for the last appointment yesterday. I could tell she had a full day and was still recovering from her own illness, yet she focused entirely on ME. She took the time to address all my concerns and patiently listened to my fears. She even said she'd double-check to see if I even needed a root canal, and if I didn't, we could all go home early! Turns out, I did need the root canal--my tooth's nerve had died. Dr. Lin knew how nervous I was, especially about the procedure and all the needles involved. To help ease my anxiety, she handed me a fluffy plushie to hug while she worked. That small gesture honestly made a huge difference! Dr. Lin had told me the procedure would take about an hour, but it ended up taking two. Why? It was my last molar, and the nerves were curved, which made the process more complicated. But Dr. Lin explained every step and made sure I felt comfortable the entire time. Her attention to detail and calming presence really put me at ease. She even took two x-rays during the procedure to make sure everything was perfect. Throughout, there was zero pain, and even though she warned me I might have jaw pain from holding my mouth open for so long, I didn't feel any discomfort. I waited a day to write this review to get a sense of how I was feeling, and while there's some slight pain when I bite down (which is normal), I'm feeling really good. Dr. Lin even called me today to check in and see how I was doing. Also, I have to mention the office renovations! The new baby blue walls are a beautiful update to an already great space. Thank you so much, Dr. Lin, for making this experience as pain- and fear-free as possible--and for being such a caring, dedicated doctor. Lisa's empathy came through on the first call; the staff, overall, are clearly experienced with emergency situations. And, importantly, Dr. Mitrut took the TIME to explain every stage of the events. That's rare. Too many doctors, in my own personal opinion, rely on their own experience without taking the time to recognize a person is in distress. They're dishonest and look for things you don't have in order to charge you exorbitant prices. I came here to get my teeth treated. The dentist seemed hesitant in his diagnosis, and the hygienist was even worse. I don't have the best teeth, but I do maintain good daily hygiene. The hygienist recommended a deep cleaning because I had tartar and plaque. The cleaning cost $795. Then the supposed budget coordinator arrived, and the treatment for my teeth would cost $12,185. At another place in the same area, the treatment would have cost me $5,533. Even so, I paid half the cleaning, $395, to start, and they only cleaned half of my mouth, on the right side, both upper and lower. During the week, I got two second opinions from other dentists and called dental insurance companies and plans. The result: I have no plaque, no tartar, and a cleaning wasn't necessary right now. I had a broken tooth, and these dishonest people at Gentle Dental wanted to put a crown on me for $3,050. The other two dentists recommended the following: you have 70% of your tooth still good; it's best to preserve it by getting a filling that, with care, will last and keep part of your natural tooth. Think a thousand times before going to Gentle Dental. I recommend Corbin Dental Bayside. I was referred to him by my primary dentist, who took a complete set of X-rays just last week. Dr. Michell insisted on taking new X-rays just to "put them on his computer." I offered to email my recent ones, but he refused and claimed he would just bill my insurance. I pointed out that insurance wouldn't cover duplicate X-rays and I couldn't afford out-of-pocket costs, but he couldn't explain why his X-rays were any different. When I declined the extra X-rays, he blatantly told me he couldn't treat me without them. If he couldn't make extra money off unnecessary X-rays, he wasn't interested in examining me. He casually said, "Nice meeting you," and walked out. On top of that, my appointment was at 4:30 PM, but I wasn't seen until 5:15 PM. Complete disrespect for patient care and my busy schedule.
