I've been on a mission to find coffee shops in Syracuse that are open late enough for me to unwind after work, and Milano had been on my list for a while. After finally visiting, I can honestly say the pictures don't do this place justice. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and somehow elevated at the same time. It felt less like a coffee shop and more like hanging out in a friend's beautifully decorated home. I spent a few hours there editing a YouTube video, and it was exactly the type of environment I've been searching for. Since it was my first visit, I wanted to try a few different things. I ordered the strawberry vanilla matcha, which was surprisingly good. It was a little sweeter than I expected, but the flavor was excellent. I'm not usually a matcha girl, but I'd definitely order it again. Their menu is extensive, with several drink options, flavored matchas, pastries, cheesecakes, and even the viral fruit pastries that I saw several customers purchasing while I was there. One thing that really stood out to me was that they actually offer food. I ordered a jerk beef patty and a jumbo apple fritter, both of which were delicious. They also had other savory options available, including spinach pie and additional patties. As someone who arrived hungry, I appreciated having more substantial options than the typical coffee shop pastry selection. The staff were wonderful. They mentioned that they love welcoming new guests, and it definitely showed. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and patient while I stood there trying to decide what I wanted to order. I never felt rushed, and they were happy to answer questions and make recommendations. The only thing to keep in mind is parking. Since Milano is located in the heart of downtown Syracuse, you'll most likely need to park on the street. If you're visiting before 6 p.m., be prepared to pay for parking. Overall, I had a great experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the customer service. I'll definitely be back, and Milano has quickly become one of the strongest contenders in my search for the perfect late-night coffee shop. read more

Love this place! I've been here many times and have taken everyone in my family here. I love their lattes. Their coffee is strong and delicious. They also have an array of pastries and baked goods. Their bagels are extremely fresh too. There is plenty of comfy seating available and the decor and ambiance here is relaxing and cozy. I love this spot! I've been wanting to try this cafe for a while now and glad I did! On a Saturday afternoon there was no line and a few people sitting in their comfy looking seating area with couches and tables. The staff were very kind and quick making my coffee. I ordered a shaken espresso and added a peanut butter cookie syrup - yum! I didn't grab a sweet treat this time (mostly because I couldn't decide from all their choices) but I would love to come back to try some! Update; the employee actually commented on my original post online apologizing. Very nice! Again, nothing to do with her. They have been hosting and posting more recently which is great to see. Needing to do work & winning a free drink & pastry, we stopped in for a Sunday morning. I am hoping that this was an off day, coupled with only one employee working, but it was OK. Standard speciality coffee (wasn't too hot), carrot cake & chicken empanada standard dessert. There was no music so it was quiet, but a steady flow of people were in and out and sitting. No complaints on her working!!! Just expected more, though it has been open for a bit and I hadn't gone until now. read more

Located in Downtown Syracuse, it's in a convenient location for those who work downtown. I ordered a slice of strawberry shortcake and, it was unfortunately quite disappointing. While it looked pretty, the strawberry was coated in a very thick syrup that had an artificial aftertaste and left the strawberry quite mushy, and the cake itself was very wet (vs moist). Maybe I picked an off day or the wrong menu item, but I probably won't order pastries from here again. Also, I wish the cafe had better signage for the prices of their desserts/ food items. This cafe is a great addition to downtown Syracuse! Located right downtown, steps away from Armory Square and the McCarthy building. I came right around opening on a Sunday morning, when the city's notoriously slow. It was pretty quiet for an hour or so, though it did start to get a little busier as the morning continued on. The decor is homey and stylish, and there's plenty of seating. I got a shaken espresso and it was very good. Also tried a banana pudding and it was excellent although it's a little expensive there so I probably wouldn't order again. Super prompt service, and friendly. A tad pricey, but quality and very nice. Solid working space, on the weekends anyway. read more

Cute new cafe downtown. I like that they have a wide range of hours. They offer some baked goods as well as hot/iced coffee, espresso, and tea. They have a ton of flavor additions and various milk options to choose from. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I felt like the prices were competitive compared to the other shops. My creme brûlée iced latte was very good! I prefer house-made flavor syrups, but that's just a personal preference. read more

The croissant was stale and, somehow, tasted freezer-burnt. The chocolate-chip muffin tasted like it was from a free hotel breakfast. The baked goods looked beautiful and delicious. I wonder if they truly are. Also, the barista did not make my drink correctly. The service was kind and quick. My first thought was, "do we really need another coffee place downtown?" Yes, apparently we did. Though they've recently opened, they have experienced and friendly staff who understand the menu and how to process purchases, pastries that look incredible (I've yet to try, but they looked amazing), and really, really good coffee. They don't have an overly complex menu, which seems to heighten rather than detract from the experience. Prices are extremely reasonable, especially for downtown. Plus, this actually seems like a place where you could sit down and enjoy a drink with people - which is particularly impressive considering it was once a Jimmy John's. Immediately upon entering I witnessed an awful exchange between an individual who wanted to purchase a drink and use the bathroom and who I assume was the owner. He claimed it wasn't working (it was) and treated this man so unfairly. The place is cute and the coffee was... fine I guess. But they have signs alllllll over the shop about God and absolutely do not treat others with decency, respect, or kindness. I guess loving thy neighbor doesn't include some. A new employee was being instructed to treat him poorly as well and appeared very uncomfortable. I won't be back. I regret following through with a purchase at all. read more

Such a lovely cafe! The staff are always very friendly, and the desserts are incredibly creative and delightful. I had the best tres leches of my life here, and they even have cannolis!! Also highly recommend the dubai chocolate crepe, which is a fantastic invention combining melted dubai chocolate with traditional crepe. Be sure to specify if you want it extra chocolately like me--the staff is very willing to make the food exactly as you like it, and will even remake it if you didn't like anything.
