Artisan Interiors rebuilt the interior completely, eight-way hand-tied springs, the whole structure, and saved the original fabric his grandmother had chosen. All of it. They polished the wood while they had it. Two to three weeks, reasonable price, no drama. David runs the operation and was easy to talk to from the first conversation. Knowledgeable, straightforward, no overselling. It's a family business -- his father is the upholsterer -- and it shows in how they treat what you bring them. I didn't fully understand how damaged it was until I got it back. Now it feels the way it was supposed to feel. Solid. Sturdy. You can sit in it comfortably without holding your breath. I had a Chippendale chair with a broken seat base that needed to be replaced, but wanted to keep the fabric. Most places weren't interested in fixing something 'so small'.. So, I got on Yelp and decided to use their AI Assistant to find someone who could help. The responses came faster than I could have anticipated. The first one was from Leo at Leo's Upholstery. This was a business I was already considering, being somewhat close after 2 in Oakland. Leo's reviews are what sold me, outside of how responsive Leo was to my inquiry. I dropped off the chair, had a great chat with Leo about the chair, what we had done with it and other topics. He said it would be ready by Monday or Tuesday. I receive a text early on Tuesday morning, letting me know the chair was ready. We arranged a time and I came to get the chair. It was as promised.
