Situated directly on Milwaukee Avenue in the heart of Wicker Park, Mildblend Supply Co is a retro-vibed clothing store that sells all the current and past trends from shoes, boots, jeans, tops, jackets, hats, accessories, etc...plus they even have a small selection of home decor/candles. We popped in recently to window shop and what was a planned as a quick in and out turned into a solid 20 minute roam around the store. We found a few things that we liked including a great selection of over the shoulder bags, which is what we ended up purchasing. In addition to the clothing, they have a small tailoring/sewing nook up front where they create in house goods, but also can make alterations/repairs to your clothing, whether you bought it from them or not. Service was stellar as well. The fellas on the floor were helpful and friendly from entry to exit. Overall, while a lot of the clothing is not really my vibe, I enjoyed the quality and variety of everything, plus the service and vibes were cool too! read more

Came in on a busy Saturday hoping to get a rush Hem done on a new pair or IH jeans. I was super happy that they were able to squeeze me in on the same day. The price was very fair for a rush job and the quality of the work was great, a lot of attention to detail on the measurements, folding and hem. This was my first time being at the brick and mortar store, all of the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about denim. Definitely liked to see IH, Samurai, Momotaro for sale locally in Chicago, very cool to see it all pieces not through photos online. Been looking for japanese denim for about 3 years. Have looked exclusively online until a trip to Chicago and I saw this store was in the area. I walk in and have a rough idea of what I want, D is the employee that helps me. He led me to 3 different jeans that were approximately the cut I wanted and I tried them all on. As I was changing he politely asked me to come out and gave his opinions on the fit and helped me make a decision. He even continued to find other jeans in various sizes and brands as I was trying on the other pairs. I was given a quality of service I've never experienced at a clothing store before and he also hemmed my pants perfectly in 5 minutes. These guys are awesome. Originally bought a pair of iron hearts when I was visting Chicago customer service was so awesome they got me hooked to iron hearts. Flash forward a year later I lost about 40/50 pounds give or take a pound so I decided to treat my self. I bought some iron hearts in some other store in New Jersey those guys were great too but I really wanted the black pair they didn't have so I ordered from mild blend. They did hem them for me but I was 10000 percent sure all measurements were correct for me. I knew if I messed up was no refunds. For obvious reasons. These guys just made me feel even with an online order like they cared about the customer. It's hard to explain but you guys just gotta support the shop and you'll see what I mean. I've worn raw and selvedge denim for over fifteen years, and I've been to a lot of stores around the US that specialize in the same niche as Mildblend (high-quality denim and other clothing, especially from Japan), and Mildblend is truly second to none. They have a great selection of the best hard-to-find brands, and although their clothes are pricey, they're not overpriced, and the high-quality brands they carry are simply expensive (I see the same products at other stores for the same price or more). It's a beautiful space that's well-curated and a lot of fun to browse. What really separates Mildblend, though, is the quality of the service. I've visited twice in the last couple months. During my first visit, I worked with two people. The first person was very nice, and even though he mentioned it was only his first or second day, he was attentive and offered useful input (he also remembered me when I came in a couple months later, which I appreciated). The second person I worked with was incredibly knowledgeable--she recognized the jeans I was wearing and made recommendations about a brand I was interested in (Pure Blue Japan) based on how my current jeans fit. She was also able to answer my very specific questions (including a question about a specific Pure Blue Japan fit that Mildblend carried years ago). All this is to say her knowledge was incredibly deep, and she was considerate and eager to help. She also offered some helpful advice on a shirt I ended up buying. My second visit was much more recent (and inspired me to write this). I live five hours away and drove in to get a pair of jeans hemmed (by the way, Mildblend is one of the few places in the midwest with a machine that can do chain stitch hemming--a must for selvedge jeans). I was only going to be in town for less than 24 hours, and they were helpful about getting it done ASAP (it took maybe 20 minutes). I called a few days ahead to ask if they could do it under my time constraint, and the woman on the phone was very helpful. The same woman (I'm pretty sure) measured me for the hem, asked helpful questions, was patient, and offered great advice. The woman I worked with during my first visit was also around and was helpful once again when I tried on the jeans. The last thing I'll share about this second visit is I ended up calling afterward with a question, and once again, the person I spoke to (Chris) was incredibly helpful. The selvedge denim world can be really intimidating and hard to approach--and, unfortunately, at a lot of stores, the staff can seem a little elitist and make this process harder. Mildblend is the opposite. Overall, both my visits were great, and I can't wait to go back whenever I'm next in Chicago. First thing I have to say is the owner Lucas is a great guy and a great business man and an extremely nice and friendly guy, which has earned my business forever . However his employee(s) can improve when speaking to customers on the phone . Not very friendly , they are cold and unwelcoming at least the woman I was dealing with was .. but aside from that he has my business and I will recommend his business to anyone. If you get the same woman I dealt with don't mind her or allow it to affect buying from this man because the five star review is based on my direct phone interaction with Lucas alone . I've been going to Mildblend through the years exclusively for all my casual pants - denim and chinos. They specialize in denim so they carry brands that you can't buy anywhere else locally. I've typically worked with Tulip because she makes my shopping experience easier by helping me find styles that I like and that work for my body type. She's truly a denim specialist that knows her stuff - types of denim, fits, stitching, etc - though I'm sure the staff are equally as knowledgeable. There's also no additional charge for same-day alterations, which is a value add especially for those that like instant gratification. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for their alterations, but it may be different during the holidays. Mildblend introduced me to raw denim a year ago, and I have just returned for my second pair a year later. I will likely make an annual trip from here on out. While the quality of the goods are superb, and you are certainly paying for it, here is what I really love about the shop: 1. The selection of raw denim in all ranges. The owner really put in a lot of thought on what to stock. And they stock the best stuff in respective price ranges. 2. More importantly, Matthew. This kid is sincere, knowledgeable, and beyond patient. He also has an incredible memory. I spent about an hour at the shop a year ago to pick up my first pair. A year later on my second visit, Matthew remembered me and which pair I bought. He is also the guy who does most of the chain stitching and repair jobs. Take note, Mildblend, keep this kid. Shopping for pants is one of the worst things for me. I'm 5'7" and nothing ever fits me - I quickly get overwhelmed at most stores. Mildblend has now come through TWICE in the past year or so. My husband and I wandered in here walking down the Milwaukee strip to check out what was new. We hadn't seen this spot before, and as soon as we stepped in we were greeted and felt welcomed. We were drawn in to the comfortable clothes. I like the styles of clothing and shoes as they have a sense of dual purpose of style and comfort. You can tell they stand by the quality of the brands that are sold in the store and the prices they are charging. My favorite pair of designer jeans started to rip so I gave this place a shot based off their reviews. They use a darning process that is better quality than a simple patch. Process was fairly simple but did take over a week to receive my jeans back. I had to call them to get an update on my jeans. Overall solid jean repair store. I brought in a pair of vintage jeans with a huge tear that most places said was not fixable and this place did the most incredible job. I was initially mis-quoted for the price of the repair, however the head repair man was willing to fix my jeans for the original price I was quoted, even though there was about a $70 difference between that price and what the repair should have cost. I am very thankful for Mildblend. Their selection of high-end denim, workwear style garments and shoes is both expansive and meticulously curated. It's denim heaven basically. As a bonus, they even stock Japanese brands like Iron Heart that you will not find outside of NYC or LA here in the states. Worth noting also that there is a very respectable female selection because ladies deserve selvage too. In addition they can hem and fix up your jeans, but know that an old timey chain stitch hem will set you back $25 (tho hemming is free when purchasing). If you are a denim or men's fashion guy, this is the best spot in Chicago - no question. It's not a cheap place, but, then again, they aren't selling cheap clothes. Absolutely wonderful experience. Was on a mission for new denim. Had walked by here before and noticed the "free alterations after purchase" sign, so I figured I'd go in and check it out. Sales associate was incredibly nice, cute (always helps...Lee/Leigh, if you read this, you have my number in your store directory - call me), and super attentive. Knew her denim. Described kind of what I was looking for in style and fit, and she immediately had recommendations of fits and styles from different designers. Must have tried on 15 pair of jeans until I wavered between two pair; had to have been there for 90 minutes, including 30 minutes after closing time. Between Lee/Leigh and the owner (presumably), I found a pair of denim. Presumable owner really knew his denim; was able to tell me how different styles would wear, stretch, etc. Also, they were incredibly patient with me and my indecisiveness. As a major plus, when I paid for my jeans, they were hemmed on the spot. Will be going back again, without a doubt. read more

I've been here multiple times, but this time I actually brought a pair of jeans with the crotch blown out so they could fix it. Dropped my pair off on a sunday and was called back next saturday to retrieve my jeans. They were fixed perfectly, the darning job was immaculate and my jeans basically look like there was no hole there. The staff is super friendly and very willing/detailed in explaining the different kinds of denim and the different weights etc. I spoke with a worker there about denim for a good 20 minutes and you can immediately tell he's has a passion for denim the same way I do. Biggest Nudie selection in the Chicagoland area, hands down. Yeah, other stores may have Nudies in stock but good luck finding the fit, wash, and style your looking for-- no one has a Nudie section for males as large as Mildblend! Nudies aside, they had a large selection of Naked and Famous and the hard to find Momotaro's. The store associates are super helpful, Tulip as gorgeous as ever was wonderfully engaging and sincerely interested in helping me find the right fit. I've been here a handful of times over the last few years and always enjoy it. They carry a bunch of different designers that make some good quality clothing. The staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and passionate. Easily one of the best independent boutiques in the city, bar none, and one of the best denim stores I've been to in the US. How have I not written a review of Mildblend until this day? This is the shop that keeps the raw denim scene alive, well, and thriving in Chicago. It's one of those shops that I'm proud of, that make me boast about "living in Chicago". It's part of the street culture of this city. If you're interested in raw denim, but don't know where to start, come in and just say hi. If you are into raw denim, they have some solid pieces available, from PBJ and Eternal to Momotaro and Iron Heart. So when your jeans are hemmed, they will look exactly like there are supposed to. Chain stitch hem for jeans not purchased at their store is $25, they will hem on the spot in ten minutes. Great service. With respect to jeans selection, large selection of Nudies and Naked and Famous. Medium selection of smaller US makers, like Left Field and Rogue Territory. This is THE place for denim. I always have a difficult time finding men's pants with a good fit, but not once have I not been able to find something spectacular. The staff are extremely knowledgable and friendly. I got introduced to my first pair of Nudie Jeans by the sales associate Leigh. She knew exactly what size and fit would look good, and sure enough the first pair of pants I tried on was the winner. By far one of the best places in Chicago to shop if you truly care about the clothing on your back. The knowledgeable staff has always been a huge help when I've been in the shop. The past two times that I have purchased jeans from them, they were diligent to make sure I had the fit I wanted and needed. Even while helping the other patrons in the shop, they made sure that my time there was respected. I have had denim repaired there four times, and the quality of the repairs are always top notch. I had a crotch blowout in a pair of jeans (that I didn't buy at Mildblend) that I brought in for repair. I brought them here because I heard they had a darning machine that covers the hole by re-threading the jeans instead of patching them. Anyways I show the customer service person the hole and she gets the owner who walks me through how he will repair them like my jeans are my baby that just arrived at the hospital. The customer service here is fantastic, the people working here seem to be generally happy to be there. I took the jeans in on a Friday after work and had them back by Sunday afternoon and they are back to their normal fit. I tried on jeans here, didn't find a pair but the salesperson recommended denim brands to look for that they didn't carry in store. This place is absolutely top notch. Especially if you are looking for denim. A ton of options of the best quality, employees are super attentive and know everything their is to know on the brands and fits. Know that you are buying premium denim, not for the designer name on them, but the quality. ($100-$250) I have no issue with the price points, some might. It took 10 minutes to get my pants hemmed (no charge) after getting them fitted and marked. I've never seen that before. The owner is usually doing the hemming and denim repair, he rocks. The only little downside for me is that some of their tops (button downs, sweaters, etc.) are really trendy and 'out there' design wise. To each their own in terms of style, though.
