I love the denim lounge! ALL of their items are great quality. My favorite pieces in my closet have come from here. They always have amazing tees and sweatshirts - some awesome Chicago and band designs. Can always find a cute Rolling Stones tee here. My husband loves their socks! Bad experience. Entered the store with my parents (we're Asian obviously) and no one said hi or approached us. Mind you we were the only ones in the store lmao. The lady staff kept following us and giving us dirty stares. Then another set of customers came and the lady was so quick to welcome them with open arms, mentioned the sales, and pointed where everything's at (men's is here, women's is there, etc). As expected, they have a lot of jeans so if you're in the market for some denim this is the place. They also have some cute tees/tanks (ella moss, splendid, etc). There is even a small rack of baby/kids clothes, which makes sense since they also own Madison & Friends.* I have more jeans in my closet right now than I know what to do with, but did have my eye on a few casual tops. When I am in Chicago, this is going to be a place I regularly visit. First of all, I went in there with the intention of casually browsing and ended up with some amazing purchases. The store manager, Jamie is outstanding. She is very personable and makes you feel extremely comfortable in trying on different items. She is also able to immediately assess your body type and identify products that will fit your body well. The jeans that I tried on and ended up purchasing are the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever owned. The denim is so soft, you do not feel as if you were wearing jeans at all. I had the items shipped to my home, and when they arrived, Jamie had enclosed a personal note, thanking me for my purchases. Was baited with a "Customer Appreciation Day Sale", certain percentage off your items, but they failed to mention that any items purchased that are on sale (EVERYTHING IN THE STORE WAS ON SALE) can only be returned for store credit. Make sure you are absolutely sure about your purchases. I tried to return 2 out of 8 bought items, after realizing the fit was off and second guessing the value. The owner helped me find some great Jeans, he was super accommodating and also recommended a local tailor who was able to get the Jeans taken in in just a couple of hours. I found the Denim Lounge on Google, hunting for high quality jeans. Four hours later I had two tailored pairs ready to wear. At the store, they helped me right away. I said I was looking for good jeans, and that's what they found for me. We tried four different pairs - different washes and different brands. They explained the differences between them, and I nabbed the two I liked. Their deal on higher end jeans is to take $15 off and then send you to their nearby tailor for a $15 leg adjustment. (The two options are both cleaners. And the first is cash only.) I went by the cleaners (a couple minutes away) and they did a quick fitting. It seemed slow, so I took a shot and asked if they could be done the same day. And they were! All told, it was about $400 for the two pairs. And they're clearly worth it. Trying on jeans can be a difficult and depressing process. The men reading this may not understand, but I am sure most women can completely relate to the tediously horrible process of trying to find that perfect fit and amidst the terribly unflattering ones you keep trying on. Maybe you settle on a pair that is "okay" or leave the store empty handed. Either way jean shopping takes a certain prepaid mentality and just plan sucks. That is until now. I read about Denim Lounge's personalized attention when it comes to finding the perfect fit. I was so excited to utilize this service that I called ahead to make sure I could come in at a time where I could get the utmost attention. The manager (Jamie) actually scheduled an appointment for me the following morning, before the store opened- talk about full attention! I arrived to the store, fully ready to try on thousands of jeans and hopefully find one pair (ONE Pair ONLY I kept telling myself). I was in and out in 15 min- max. Maybe even 12. WTF? Yep, I arrived, was greeted by Jamie- who was so cute, sweet and helpful. She asked my size, or what I thought it was, took a look at me and gave me the first pair to try on. They fit perfectly. I tried on another pair just for good measure but the first pair really was the winner. How easy right? So then I forgot about my one pair only rule and tried on a different style. Again, first pair fit perfectly. Jamie was full of knowledge about how pocket placement helps to complement the rear end- personally I want the person who helps me find jeans knowing that kind of stuff. 2 pairs of jeans that fit perfectly and made me fell good about my body in under 15 min! Due to a habit of only buying cheap jeans that fall apart, I desperately needed new jeans this season... so when daily candy sent me 25% off coupon for Halloween, I decided to bite the bullet and see what real jeans were all about. The saleswoman/ manager was extremely friendly and helpful. I talked to her a little bit about what I was looking for and she brought me a million different pairs of jeans that were exactly what I was looking for. Eventually I narrowed it down to two pair and I couldn't be happier with them. I'm not sure if the jeans here are more expensive than in department stores but I didn't care - I was here for the assistance and because I had the coupon and it was worth it. One pair came to $50 after the discount and I can tell they are extremely well made and more stylish than the crappy default jeans I insist on blowing through like candy every year. I have shopped at Denim Lounge in Roscoe Village three times. My previous two experiences were not great, but after this last time I will not go back. The "denim experts" were of no help at all. When I asked questions about my body type, how I didn't want jeans that stretched out quickly and asked for any suggestions the one sales woman offered one brand to try. Then she and the other "denim expert" went to the front of the store and talked to eachother while I came out of the dressing room on five different occasions to look for jeans. They offered no help or asking how it was going. I found one pair of jeans that fit fine - after going through 20 pairs - and was just tired of the whole process so I decided to use my Groupon to buy them (it was about to run out so I had to use it). After taking the jeans home, I decided they weren't worth the money (paid $115 ON TOP of my Groupon) so I decided I would take them back. Upon calling Denium Lounge I was told I had a total of 14 days to return the jeans and/or get STORE CREDIT. Then, once I came into the store and talked to a sales woman I was told that, since I used a Groupon I could ONLY exchange the jeans (even the $115 I spent on TOP of the Groupon), it would have to be done before the 14 day period and it could be used on denim only. The store is only open until 6:30 (I don't get home from work until 6/6:30 at night) during the week and I was gone the next two weekends, which made exchanging the jeans nearly impossible. I think this is a ridiculous return policy and have found every sales person I've ever worked with there rather off-putting. read more

She then called to hold off while I looked around and tried stuff on. Went to the fitting room and the owner comment "oh don't worry they are holding my lunch". I stopped into The Denim Lounge today while hanging out in the RV (as in, Roscoe Village). Sorry, I'm kind of obsessed with this neighborhood. I look forward to the day that I can happily move all my junk back to the RV. Annnnnnyway, I walked into the boutique (as I was enticed by the 50-70% off sign in the window), and it was just me and the salesgirl who was super nice. I went straight for the 50% off shelf, and it was pretty stacked. Not being particularly knowledgeable on higher-end brands (I usually rock "Not Your Daughter's Jeans"...c'mon! They save me from muffin-top status) I was able to ask her questions and she helped me identify brands that would satisfy my high rise, wider leg requirements. Surprisingly, the first pair she helped me pick out was the right pair for me! They were a pair of Joe's (fancy schmancy) and 50% off--hell, for 80 bucks instead of 160, I should have been coming here before I resorted to my mom jeans! I've been paying more to look like a grandma from the waist down than I did to look my age! Eureka!! Only reason for a 4 and not 5 star review: they have a tailor they use for hemming and such, but it's near the Gold Coast Denim Lounge location. Meh. I would rather not venture down and pay 20 bucks to park while paying 10 bucks to get my jeans taken up a bit. So, the sales are grand, the help is fab, the merchandise makes my ass look mahhhvelous. A great store for high and good quality clothes. This small store is definitely one of the best store for their items. It is also clean and bright plus you can easily find items that might interests you because everything is literally organized. The staffs in here are friendly, accommodating, helpful and most importantly knowledgeable on every items inside. There is various selection of clothes that really has amazing designs and quality as well. Another thing is that prices may seem expensive when it is actually fair and reasonable and definitely cheaper than some high end stores. What a wonderful experience here in Denim Lounge! I went here to find some pants that is perfect for me. I walk around and I am really amazed with the great atmosphere inside their store. Their place is so clean, nice, bright, and so huge. You can really enjoy your tour inside because you can see a lot of nice things they have, all of their items has a good quality, and all of it has a reasonable and fair prices. You can literally save a lot of your money here compared buying in other stores around. They have so many great deals here such as promos, discounts, and even sale items. So what are you waiting for? Go and try to stop by at this place to get some quality items for casual outfits, formal, and others. I really love this store of Denim Lounge. I ended up buying three pants and one shirt. So.... as probably many on here know, Groupon had a mad crazy sale on these yesterday. Lots were sold, so I ventured there with the fiance today to beat any sort of rush that may come this weekend. As usual I go straight to the basement to see if there is anything I like that fits in the clearance section. And as usual they have one pair of 36 waist jeans.... I try it on and it doesn't go half way up my leg. Then the lady that works there tells me those are thin cut jeans..... I am not sure if I should be sad I can't get some trendy jeans for $30 or sad for the dudes that can fit into those jeans..... I mean a 36 waist is not a skinny emo dude, you're either someone who is a gym rat or a chubby guy, and with skinny legs then I'd assume it is for a chubby dude... atleast he'll be trendy. The personalized service is incredible. The sales lady helped me find a couple of pairs in different cuts each with just the right fit. And if you are like-minded, the Denim Lounge will not disappoint. With hundreds of pairs of jeans from top brands such as Joe's, William Rast, and Chip and Pepper, you'll likely find what you're looking for. The salespeople are among the most knowledgeable I've seen in a clothing store, actually able to speak intelligently about the cut and make of their various jeans. If you're familiar with E Street Denim in Highland Park (which is truly blue jean paradise), think of the Denim Lounge as a nice smaller-scale alternative for when you can't make it out to the suburbs. I'd recommend getting on their email list so that you know ahead of time when they'll be having sales. I bought a few pairs this weekend at their sidewalk sale: $240 marked down to $70, and $200 marked down to $50. I think that people sometimes find a brand of jeans that they love and then stick to it... but if you let the salespeople do their job and you're willing to try on a bunch of new/different pairs, you might be pleasantly surprised! read more

Shopping at the Denim Lounge on Roscoe is an exercise in frustration, at least for me. To clarify, I've always had good customer service there. I've just not been able to use a YouSwoop coupon that I bought a while ago. I've been there on 3 separate occasions trying to use that coupon which has since expired. It's always been an issue of them having very limited/non-existent petite sizing options. Since they're no longer even stocking petite sizes, it's become impossible to get jeans that fit a short person. The coupon is limited to "jeans only". Since I can't use it on any of their other merchandise, I'm now stuck with a coupon that I can not use for myself. Although, considering it has expired and is now considered a "gift certificate", should they really limit what merchandise I can buy with it? For those that are wondering, Denim Lounge does offer a 25% discount on alterations. However, I'm of the mindset that if I'm paying $225 for a pair of jeans, I sure as heck should not need to pay extra to alter them! read more

Lousy service and here's why... Me and my friend walk in on a gorgeous afternoon. The store was empty. I smile and say hello to the sales girl who is looking directly at me. She looks away; not a word. Nice, huh? But it gets better... a couple walks in about 5 seconds after we do. The girl not only greets them with a smile, she walks over from the counter to ask if they need help. One thing is for certain, I was looking to buy at least two pairs of jeans that day. Seeing as how this girl didn't care for my business, we turned around and promptly walked out. For whatever reason you thought that couple was more worthy of your time than I was, lesson be learned, Counter Girl: some people actually walk into stores with the intention of spending money. And some of those people only buy from shops that APPRECIATE the business. And with your blatant display of disregard, you made my decision to shop elsewhere much easier. As a small business, maybe you should think about that when you go through your books every month, wishing the numbers were better. P.S. After I left this lousy place, I went to the Blue Jeans Bar on Halsted and they were friendly, helpful and genuinly interested in providing a great customer experience. I went with my groupon, I went on a weekday so I was the only one in there which was nice, the manager was the only one there and she was very helpful ! I ended up with a pair of Hudson cigarette jeans. Well the first time I wore these jeans the zipper came down in the fist 20 minutes, I totally was to lazy to return cause its like a mile from my house and I don't have a car, oh wait I do. Anyawys the maganger at the Roscoe store was nice but not extremly helpful, she wanted me to bring them in and they would send them back to hudson to see what they could do becuase it was past the 14 days on the recipt. nto happening. Called the owner at Oak street and he fixed it right away, I dropped them off and they were back to me 3 days later complements of their inhouse seamstress. I had such an amazing experience here; so amazing, in fact, that I'm writing this review on my phone 5 min after walking out of there. EVERYONE was so nice and so helpful. I walked in on the last day to use my groupon, and was immediately greeted my a helpful young blonde woman whose name I don't remember, alas. I told her I was looking for denim leggings and she quickly whipped out 6 different styles in a range of washes, including a slate gray pair of sevens that I would NEVER have picked out (and ended up buying). What really made my experience great was Wendi, the owner. I had lost my debit card and only had checks and $10 cash on me, and they don't take checks. And it was a sunday. But after speaking with Wendi, I was VERY GRACIOUSLY allowed to write a check for the difference between the groupon and the jeans (after assuring them they were well within their legal rights to hunt me down if it bounced). I went to Denim Lounge today and had a really good experience. I liked that David had a feel for styles and we were able to hone in my preference (fashionable + straight-cut). I am a bit of a recovering jean-aholic so I didn't try this place until I bought the groupon for it. It was completely amazing the first time I went in. The girl helping me brought out every pair of jeans I could have asked for in every wash that I could have imagined in two sizes because she wanted me to get a good idea of the fit for all the different brands. Jean heaven....I will admit this place is pretty dangerous because I came in looking for a pair of jeans and ended up with two pairs of jeans, a couple shirts, and a dress. Oops...at least my closet loves me for it. I have been back since and the service has been decent, it was nothing like the first time I went in the store. Also, don't forget to check out the downstairs where everything is on sale (30-50% or more off) -- lots of great finds but it is completely hit or miss. Between the Roscoe Village store and the Oak Street store I have bought 10 (count 'em) 10 pairs of jeans from The Denim Lounge and every pair has made me infinitely happy. Jeans are one of the few items that I am willing to spend a small fortune on, but fortunately The Denim Lounge has great jeans on both ends of the designer denim price spectrum. I bought a terrific pair of 1921s on sale for $60 (no, that's not a typo - they were clearance) and I bought an incredible pair of Henry III Generation for almost $300. I will wear them until they disintegrate. The sales people here know their stuff. They know just by looking at me that I can't wear True Religions but that Peoples Revolution will make me look two inches taller. And I love them for that. I've also bought a few Ts and casual dresses here. The denim selection is dizzyingly enormous, but the casual wear and accessories are well-edited. read more

SHOULD NOT BE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Tonight my family and I took our regular evening walk around our neighborhood. We stopped around 6pm into denim lounge b/c we saw kids clothing in the window. The kid's clothes were marked as "90% off". Ok, so I found a cute onesie on sale for $3.29, all other clothes were too big for my girls. All we had on us was our credit card b/c we didn't want to carry much with us. The RUDE and SNOTTY only person working there (turns out to be one of the owners) behind the counter says to me (baby strapped to me and all), "I cannot charge $3.... on a credit card" in a rude, discriminate way. Then basically shooed me out of the store. GOOD thing I'm a part of the rv chamber of commerce. I understand credit card companies charge retailers a percentage, but geez. In this economic environment (and particularly because their mark-up is like 300%) it would serve them well to smile and appreciate customers.
