Having read reviews about the long waits and small dining area I had my apprehensions about dining at Mildred's, fortunately the overwhelming compliments towards the food was enough to spark my curiosity and subside the lack of patience of my hunger. There was only a thirty minute wait and we probably did not even wait for that long, however I don't doubt that queues line up out of the door for a seat. Mildred's Its self is a little cramped (you may find yourself sharing a table with other diners) and at present seems to have some renovations happening but the atmosphere is brilliant, you can see everyone's food arriving at their tables which gives you a bad case of food envy, but that only makes the arrival of your food more enjoyable (or making time to pay up and leave more difficult) and speaking of food it was some of the best vegetarian food I've ever had, the prices are more than reasonable for the quality and quantity, I want to go back and try everything, you'll experience the same. read more

As a non-vegetarian, I can happily confirm that even non-veggies will love the food here. They do. I do. It is busy and it is small and it does feel kind of cramped and there's a very haughty waitressbutthe quality of the food makes up for all of that. Also of note is the private dining room, which you can book free of charge and is an elegant upstairs room decorated with some fine examples of Victorian pornography. Which is certainly a talking point. This room is perfect for a special occasion and I've never had a problem booking it. read more

We tried to get into Mildred's a weeknight at around 7:30 but decided not to as the wait was rather long. I decided to back for lunch instead which was much easier. We got there at 12:45 and there was no wait, although the place did fill up closer to 1:15 The menu looked very interesting and I had a hard time settling on what to order. A friend had recommended the starters (butternut squash pie and panfried halloumi), but as we were rushed for time I only had a main course. I had the borlotti bean and sunblushed tomato sausages, really good. My friend had the detox sallad with which she was also very happy. This is my favourite restaurant in London. Mainly because the food is great. Also like the casualness of the setup, the service is decent, while not in-your-face and theres a great selection for veges like me. Each dish is well priced, looks amazing - and elicits jealousy as I see plates for others being carried to others' tables. Last time I was there, we sat in for the long haul, ordered several bottles of wine and desserts - and in the end, we felt like we'd had a bargain. Love it and can't wait to return. read more

The first couple of times I ate here with my best friend who is vegetarian, the food would have got 4 stars. I had a very tasty sweet potato curry. I agree with all the other reviewers about the lack of space and the wait for a table. My opinion of Mildred's dropped slightly when the same friend had her Birthday party in the upstairs dining room. I loved the room and the tittilating photographs (no-one else amongst the party seemed to really notice these - what does that say about me?) but I was underwhelmed by my meal on this occasion. Decent veggie place. I was not too impressed by the waiters, with impatient slightly snobbish attitudes. On top of which they automatically add 12.5% tip to your bill. I you can get past all that, the food is quite good. I am a fan of their appetizer dumplings. I can go for a second round of those dumplings right now! On a Saturday night this place is packed - they don't take bookings so we waited for about 45 minutes for a table in the end but didn't mind as we waited with a couple of their cocktails! When we got seated it was in between two other tables quite closely packed. It was intimate to say the least! The food was delicious - bean burgers and sweet potato fries with gyoza dumplings to start. My date's summer rolls starter were less impressive in my opinion but still overall visit bad. My only slight problem with Mildred's was how packed in we were, time we waited for a table and how flat out the staff seemed - though I can't fault them as they were brilliant, just extremely busy. However, these are all hallmarks of a popular restaurant with great food! I look forward to visiting during the week and I hope for a slightly calmer experience. read more

What a delicious meal we had at Mildreds. Found this place via Yelp as I am always in the quest for a good vegan restaurant. We did a day trip to London on our own while visiting my niece who is serving in the USAF stationed in England. For my husband's sake and to his pleasure the portions were very pleasing. We started with a bowl of the sweet potato soup which was delicious. We each chose a different dish, but everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked!! Small place so be prepared to rub shoulders with the next table but service was good and food came quickly. The mushroom and ale pie was hearty and flavorful and my husband loved it. My daughter chose the black bean and red rice burrito, which stood up to any burrito from back home "across the pond". I had the Sri Lankan curry which we all agreed was tasty. Great location, nice atmosphere, too much salt! This restaurant/cafe is in a great central location to meet a friend and have a quick and cheap veggie bite to eat. I thought the staff were friendly enough but lacked charm. Mildreds is a small, independent veggie restaraunt deep in the heart of Soho, but a rarity in central London as they have a private dining room available upstairs to hire, with no surcharge. The dining room is kitted out with sensual, smutty artwork which makes a delicous change! Food is above average vegetarian fare - highly recommended is the deep fried camembert, if your arteries can cope with it. Delicious artichoke salads and deserts. Wine and liquor is all organic, ensuring less hangovers! Delicious, and good for group bookings. read more

One of my girlfriend's favourite restaurants in London, that manages to make interesting vegetarian food that appeals to meat-eaters and veggies alike. Our best experience there is still Valentines two years ago, when we had the most incredible mushroom and pancake gateau! Normally, you can't book, and you just have to hope for the best. As mildreds is just around the corner from my work,I've been loads and it never disapoints! ,all my veggie friends demand on going whenever they come to visit.and I never feel outdone by not having any meat on my plate! it's small and always busy but don't let that put you off, you can wait at the bar and have a organic ginger beer, if your not veggie this is still a great place to try, it's not all beans and pulses,.. they also cater for 'wheat free' and everything is explained on the menu,its not overpriced and the portions are really genorous but make sure you leave room for the cheescake! After eating out at a few vegetarian, vegan, and raw places when I was in New York, I developed an appreciation for good, vegetarian food. Which is exactly what Mildred's does. Tasty, inventive vegetarian dishes at what for London is a very reasonable price point - you can get out of there for less than £15 if you skip the drinks and dessert. Upon entering the establishment I was pleasantly surprised with the natural light and cozy feel. There was enough seating to not feel too cramped and the menu looked great. I ordered the main course salad(there's only one) of which I have already forgotten the name of. Namely because it was terrible. For an extra 2 pounds they will give you four pieces of tofu - oh gee thanks! The salad consisted of 85% shredded carrot, 10% shredded beet, 2.5% nuts and seeds, 2.5% lettuce. Literally I could count the pieces of lettuce due to green not exactly blending in with all the orange. The dressing had a good taste albeit a bit too oily. I could not finish the meal having grown sick of carrot after the 20th bite. For a place rated this well I really expected more. Pick up your game Mildred's- a $16 salad needs to leave you completely satisfied- not disgruntled enough to leave a review. 3 stars because the other food items might actually be awesome. read more

I can see why this place gets so many good reviews. It was divine. I had a trio of small plates, the artichokes and grilled bread, the gyoza and the manchego cheese. All were superb in their own right. I would come again in a heartbeat. Excellent service, all dishes recommended by the server. Tonight I had an absolute surprise when my girlfriend suggested we dine at Mildred's. At first inspection I thought we were out of luck as the entire establishment was packed. However after putting our name down it was only a short wait at the side bar with a bottle of wine and olives.The atmosphere was cosy and intimate, the staff were extremely friendly and above all the food was fabulous in taste and price! Last night I tried Mildreds for the first time after a couple of friends recommended it and It was pretty good. I brought a couple of omnivore friends with me and they were pretty impressed too. We had to wait for our table for a bit and ended up in a corner table that wasn't the most comfortable, but the food and the organic wine made up for it! We had the Thai tofu as a shared starter, and each one of us had the halloumi burger, the mushroom pie and the tagine: everything beautifully presented and yummy. The portions are pretty big, so we didn't have space for dessert! The only downside was that they took quite a long time to serve the food, but other than that, I would highly recommend this place! read more

After finally trying out Mildred's for a dinner with family and friends I understand why it is so popular! The service is great and attentive, in spite of being always very busy, their organic Spanish red wine is delicious and the choice of dishes, all vegetarian, is excellent. The quality of the dishes is very good, I would definitely recommend it and go back to try out something new each time... No booking required, just show up and wait to be seated, but expect a good half an hour waiting time in the evening after 8:00pm, any day of the week. It's a Paradise for vegetarians! read more

This restaurant is by far the very best veggie/vegan food I've tasted in London! The queue outside is a good indicator of what goes on inside! The staff are always nice and super knowledgeable about the food and drinks available. There are always daily specials and your favourites. The starter I always have is the chargrilled artichoke, I'm salivating just thinking about it! My choice of main dish varies as I like to try new things. My only thumbs down for this place is that they changed their chocolate bombe dessert which was an insanely decadent indulgent 4x chocolate feast of the tastebuds by replacing one of the chocolates with a raspberry coulis. I haven't been able to enjoy any chocolate / rasperry combination since.. But that's me, everyone else seems to really enjoy the raspberry dessert. And it's still by far my all time favourite restaurant in London. So you should visit. Today. And tomorrow. And so on. read more

LOVE this place!!! As a vegan, it is so refreshing and... relaxing to be able to walk into a restaurant and not have to worry about having to completely customize a meal to my lifestyle. The menu is quite lengthy, with lots of options for everyone. However, the wait time is typically pretty long no matter what time of day it is, so make sure you bring your patience, as it is quite a tight space to be in as well. The food was amazing! We had the avacado smash with blue corn chips, dumplings, the Cashew curry with sweet potato and the Polish burger. All delicious and good portion sizes.
