We hired these clowns to replace our crummy 100 amp panel with a 200A panel, and add two new circuits to our service, including a 240v circuit to the garage. Where they installed conduit, it looked great. But they didn't run the ground wires in any conduit and it looks like a kid did it. Other things: 1. They ran ground through the siding and into the crawlspace to the water line. They didn't caulk the hole they drilled into the siding. 2. They left trash all over my backyard. 3. They took one of my brand-new shovels. 4. An outlet inside my house stopped working after they left. 5. After Excel came out to inspect the finished job and said my new panel needed a slip joint where the line entered the concrete, American Electrician's owner initially refused to install the slip joint. He said Excel would allow a variance. Excel said bullshit, and only then did American Electrician agree to do it, or my power would be cut off. 6. Today, about 4 months after they finished their work, I went outside to flip one of the breakers so I could cut power to my dishwasher. One problem: the breaker labeled "dishwasher" cut the power to my son's bedroom upstairs. I started flipping breakers and found the one labeled "master bedroom/bathroom" cut power to my dishwasher. Within the booklet, there was a coupon for $50 off any electrical service and "Free Estimates!" Seemed like a good start, so I called Williams & Sons. Tim Williams (owner) is very friendly and generally is a good communicator. He was punctual during the initial assessment and his team was on time the following day to commence work. Tim's assessment determined that replacing two circuit breakers should do the trick. Tim assures me that these circuit breakers are $85/each and that it should be a quick and inexpensive job. Here is where things go wrong... 1. I call Tim after the two circuit breakers have been replaced, noting that there was no statement of work provided to me and I never received any type of $ estimate prior to work commencing. I shared my concern with Tim that I did not want to receive any kind of surprise invoice. He assured me it "wouldn't be that bad" and he was surprised that there was never an estimate provided to me. 2. Within the hour of my concerned phone call, he sends me an invoice for $650 for a job that could have taken his 2-person team about ~30 mins. Within this invoice, Tim tries to charge me $140 for his initial assessment (lasted 10 mins) and another $340 for labor which was never discussed or agreed-upon. 3. Thankfully, Tim was understanding in coming to a more reasonable price, and reduced the bill down to $350 after providing him the "free estimate" / $50 off coupon. 4. Fast forward 1 month. The problem persists and the replacement of the circuit breakers did not remedy the issue at all. I texted Tim to ask him if he could come by to re-assess the situation since the invoice clearly states that their work is covered by a "1 Year Guarantee." Tim ignores my first text. The next day I text him again to which his response is "Sorry, I don't have anyone who can help you. My team is spread too thin." Uh, what? So much for the guarantee? To me, this job felt like a quick grab and dash. $350 down the drain. Avoid.

My first step was to seek four bids/quotes from reputable electrical companies in Denver Metro. In the process, I had the opportunity to speak to each of the four companies. The company that stood above the rest to me from the start was Altitude Electric. In my very first conversation with Jody at Altitude Electric, I learned so much about this process. Jody was very nice, knowledgeable, and provided me with the information I needed to make a good decision. Although my conversations and/or meetings with each of the other companies were fine. Jody at Altitude Electric had made a strong impression on me. After receiving all four bids, I was then pleasantly surprised to find Altitude Electric to be one of more competitive bids from a total cost standpoint. I scheduled for Altitude Electric to do the work. Prior to the day of installation, I received both emails and text messages of my upcoming appointment. Karsten and Dan with Altitude Electric came and worked on my subpanel from 11 am to 4 pm non-stop. Karsten is a perfectionist at his trade, and he and Dan paid attention to every detail to complete their job. I was so impressed with how they checked and double-checked to make sure everything was done right. After the installation of the subpanel was completed, Karsten took the time to explain to me how the circuits were transferred from my main panel to the subpanel. Karsten took time to label the circuits in my subpanel, and Dan moved my new generator to where it could be operated. Bear and James got my generator running as it should and again walked me through the process of what to do when power goes out.
