It's one of the good franchises of Milestones, nicely maintained, good service, good quality foods. We had sirloin steaks. 2 of the steaks came as ordered (medium-rare), the rest 2 were over cooked. However, the manager offered excellent service and insisted to change the steaks (we politely declined as wasting food should not be an option to consider). My parents wanted to go for supper after helping me move and we came in very close to closing (which I felt terrible about). Despite us coming in late, the staff was extremely friendly and let us order (specifically Rachel, Pratham, and Prasidh).The food was so delicious and I love this place. read more

His Goatness and I had errands to run, and got a late start to the day, to boot. Darting hither and yon all over Guelph through the sticky brown slush in the waning winter afternoon, and ending up at WallyWorld (again) after not finding (again) a product that was internet-guaranteed to be in this one shop, I suddenly had the brilliant idea that tonight might be a good night to try Milestones. Milestones opened recently in the giant shopping cluster containing the Metro supermarket, Canadian Tire, Zellers and other giant box stores...sneaked in under the radar, with no fanfare, and no giant signage. It's located immediately behind the Montana's Cookhouse, which also opened within the last few months, but rather than shooting for that "rustic" themed giant-sized portion appeal, it presented a slick, swanky upscale facade with a window filled with flames and happy hipsters glimpsed drinking and talking, surrounded by seductively sparse modern decor. Reminded HG and me a bit of the Doug Fir, back in Portland...even though it's a chain, we were looking forward to trying it. Nor were we disappointed. A Monday night, and their "Girls' Night Out" special was in full swing (4 Bellinis, 4 cocktails for $40), yet we were seated promptly. Interesting lighting fixtures, neither too bright nor too dim, lighted our way into the sunken dining area, where we were tucked into a table for two that (for once) wasn't too small to dine on. Our server, Julie M, appeared like a genie from a bottle, handed us menus and took our off-the-cuff drink orders (neither of us felt like a Bellini, but HG did avail himself of the special on Corona). The menu is FULL of truly delectable-sounding offerings. I haven't seen such an appealing menu in a long time, honestly; instead of the usual one or two items that fit my evening's particular cravings, there were at least a half dozen entrees, and practically every appetizer listed, that I wanted to eat RIGHT NOW... but I kept my cool and settled for one of the seasonal "inspirations": harissa chicken. Julie, bless her, was all prepared to explain what harissa is, but I lit up the moment she mentioned the dish...I take real delight in North African cookery. HG ordered the grilled sirloin with Chilean crab and shrimp. After Julie wrote down the website where I order my spices from (Zamouri Spices--shameless plug), she sailed off with our orders, and our drinks arrived. My Bombay Sapphire dirty martini with 2 olives was certainly dirty...the olives the bar used were S.A.L.T.Y., and that's saying something, coming from me (salt is my favorite flavor). Thus, the dash of olive brine used to dirty up the martini was a bit like a dissolved salt lick. Also, the olives tasted like the cheap variety, a little freezer-burned. I gave it a B. HG's Caesar salad arrived next (we watched with amusement as the salad-delivery person tried unsuccessfully to hand off the salad to the diner at the table next to ours, was sent away, and returned like a yo-yo with a chagrined look on his face to our table). No fresh cracked pepper was offered, and I was disgruntled, until Julie sailed by and pointed out that we had our very own pepper grinder on the table, thank you very much! Bonus! While the Romaine was crunchy, and the dressing nicely flavorful (one of the better I've tasted), with plenty of shaved Asiago, the house-made croutons were a tad soggy--thus giving away the fact that the kitchen cheated and had the salad pre-mixed. Bummer, that. I noticed on the drink menu that the sour apple martini was actually made with green apple juice and a wedge of sour green apple... I splurged and ordered one. It arrived very quickly, but while it was an improvement over most renditions of the drink, it still had a bit of that sticky-sweet canned taste to me...Julie told me that I could order a TART version next time I was in, with muddled green apple and no sour apple schnapps. I approve! Alas, while the menu featured hot cocktails (something I love, and never see enough of), the bar wasn't set up to make Spanish coffee with the full show (which is half the joy of the drink). Entrees arrived: lovely presentation and portions (my photos don't do them justice). The broccolini served with my dish was a bit too al dente...I had to tear the heads off with my teeth and discard the stems. The rice (what, no couscous?) was meh. But the chicken was GORGEOUS. Meltingly tender, spiced and grilled to perfection, with a tangy lemon mint yogurt sauce that brought the whole dish together spectacularly. A+ on the chicken, and the best chicken I've had in a restaurant, ever. HG's steak was rather more rare than he ordered, but utterly delish. Great service, lovely food, many choices. We started off with the Kobe Style Classic Beef Sliders which were delicious. Then there was a long wait for the main course. My friends ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich (crispy Cajun battered chicken topped with aged Cheddar cheese and chipotle mayo served on a toasted mixed seed bun with a side of house-made avocado salsa) with curly fries and grilled Shrimp California Benedict (grilled shrimp, double-smoked bacon and house-made avocado salsa on English muffin). I ordered the Spicy Tuna Tacos (seared, pepper crusted ahi tuna wiht Asian sesame slaw and spicy chipotle yogurt). My friends enjoyed their dishes but I had some issues with mine. For my Spicy Tuna Tacos, they used unripe avocado. I eat a lot of things but unripe avocado is one of the few things I cannot stand. I also didn't enjoy the raw onion they used in the tacos. If it was sweet onion or cooked onion, I would've loved the tacos. I couldn't eat the dish so I got a different dish that I know I would love for sure - Butternut Squash Ravioli (Roma tomato sauce, Goat cheese, fresh basil and spicy-glazed pecans). The Butternut Squash Ravioli was delicious (as I expected) and I loved the spicy-glazed pecans. We also got dessert. The whole reason why I wanted to come was because I knew they had the Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake (a creamy pumpkin style cheesecake spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, topped with candied walnut topping and whipped cream on a drizzle of house-made caramel) on their menu. My friend got vanilla ice cream because she likes the ice cream isn't too sweet. Me on the other hand love sugar and I thoroughly enjoyed the pumpkin cheesecake. It actually tasted like pumpkin (I had many bad pumpkin cheesecakes that just taste like cheesecake and no pumpkin). I would like to give this place 4 stars and the servers were really nice. However, the service was a bit slow. read more

Food was phenomenal would definitely recommend coming to this location again! I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli which was definitely more filling then expected! Food came out on time and was hot and ready to eat. For dessert I had churros with two caramel sauces on the side ... so sooo good! Would definitely recommend trying these two items on the menu! read more

I visited Milestones while attending a conference at Guelph U. We had the burgers and they were excellent. Also I think beers were ordered. I don't remember too well, but only because it was during the world cup matches and I was super distracted. We chose this place over the one nearby because I live in Texas and the other place looked like every other fake down-home steak chain spread across North America. I think it was a good choice, because this place serves food on rectangular plates and makes you feel really hip and well-turned-out. read more

Apparently my brother and sister went here last night for dinner and both got sick after coming home. They think it was the dessert , the doughnuts and dip. Yikes! this was a good treat for dinner. I ended up at this location by default. I was supposed to go to a different location but i happened to be in the area and went in. I am sooo happy I did. For dinner I had Portabella Mushroom Chicken with the Vermicelli...u could get the dish with Mash Potatoes but i chose the noodles. A great place with an upscale casual environment. The menu is extensive and the food can be good quality. We had a large group and the service was good, but we had an incident that left us in a bad state. When one of the servers was handing out drinks, she dropped a drink and spilled it on my mother. Other than a quick apology from the server(who never did return) the Mgmt did not stop by to offer an apology and a suit jacket and scarf were drenched in alcohol but no offer to get them cleaned. read more

Great servers and service . Very amenable to allowing you to hang out and linger over coffee to read your book if its not crowded .The brunch menu is very reasonably priced and delicious . They only serve it on weekends until 4 though , so make sure you catch it. Try the egg milestones . read more

Absolutely phenomenal. The service was amazing and the food even better. We weren't there too long before the manager came over and gave us both a salad and apologized for the long wait. We didn't think it was long at all. At the end we paid for our bill, both very happy and they even added yet another free appetizer for our next trip. Exceptional! read more

I have tried this location for many purposes, be it a casual dinner with friends to a work gathering. It has always delivered with both excellent knowledgable staff and good quality meals. I admit I haven't delved into the bar to sample many drinks outside of the draught lineup but have the confidence to say I'm sure it is fantastic. I held back a star because they have not batted 1.000 in the food department, there have been a couple misses but I'm happy to report they have been few and far between. I would recommend this place for any occasion with any group. Bring your wallet though, you will pay for the higher quality of food. I enjoyed their brunch most and suggest you try it out. read more

Not good food! The lobster, shrimp soup was warm, not hot and so salty it was not edible. The coconut calamari was also not hot and there wasn't a hint of coconut flavour! No water served at the table, not a crust of bread to be seen with the soup.... Not good.. will never go back! read more

Terrible. The food was terrible. I ordered a medium steak, it came out blue. The staff came and only took the steak away to cook it leaving the rest of my food to get cold. My husband ate his whole meal as I waited. When they returned my steak, it was burnt. The food was terrible, the taste was very chain restaurant, but not as good, and prices for substandard food was high. There are no chefs here, just packaged food they heat up. We will never return. They did not charge us for the food, how could they, it was inedible. Go anywhere but milestones. read more
