I had a lovely Sunday breakfast with my mom at this adorable restaurant. We arrived around 8:30am expecting it to be a little busy, but we were able to seat ourselves and enjoy a little table in the back near the kitchen. The decor is really adorable and gives it almost a beach vibe escape. Our waitress was super friendly and told us about the cash only method at the beginning of our meal. We started with a hot and iced coffee, the bacon, cheddar and fontina cheese omelette with truffle potatoes (a must splurge!) a side of thin and crispy scrapple, and the French toast with warm apple compote. It was absolutely delicious! The meals were quite large, prepared fresh and hot. My only note would be to ask for a side of toast or a croissant with your omelette dishes because mine didn't come with it. The milkweed table is truly and perfect brunch for a girls day out. With big windows and a bright exterior it has a fresh charming astatic that welcomes the perfect brunch to follow. The small cafe is central to the quaint Pitmen area in South Jersey and stands out as a fresh environment. The service was wonderful and caring, continuing to make sure we had all we needed. While the coffee was not the best we've had (iced coffee, oat cappuccino) it did the job to accompany and wonderful meal. The ricotta toast was paired with a beautiful crisp sourdough and a soft peppered/lemon ricotta that complimented undertones of a soft herb egg to top it off. the Nutella doughnut holes were a explosion of valences sweetness that began the experience. For being a small town with a quit feel it was welcoming, fresh and every bite of the food was seasoned and textured perfectly. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone who wants a quint quality experience for a late morning snack. I've found it's difficult for a restaurant to be left with little to improve but Milkweed has done just that. I cannot find a place for improvement. This is our second time here. It's really not a place for kids, it's tight, but on a weekday morning- it really is perfect. There were a few tables and some music playing, it's always a great playlist. The waitstaff is really pleasant and doesn't rush you. There are no paper menus- just a QR code that you scan. The first time we didn't realize there was a separate drink menu- but this time we figured it out. I had a funnel cake latte with oat milk and my husband had the reeses latte. I love the ricotta toast with blueberries and balsamic- the little side salad it comes with is to die for! My husband had an eggs Benedict last time and a banh mi chicken sandwich this time- he enjoyed both. We debated between here and cafe lift in haddonfield- but are glad we settled on coming here- never disappoints! read more

I experienced none of the complaints mentioned in previous reviews today at brunch. There was a 45 minute wait, but we were seated within a half hour. We got bar seating, but loved being right up against the window. Our waitress was friendly and super helpful with taking our orders that included multiple modifications. She even brought us her favorite aioli because she said it goes good with the truffle fries. My friend and I both got the short rib monte cristo madame and devoured it. It was delicious and everything I wanted my cheat day meal to be! Truffle fries were crispy and flavorful. My friend loved the cherry pierogies. Oh, let me not forget the yummy lattes! I have to say I am a fan of this restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the chicken and waffles and the parmesan truffle fries. The lattes and coffees are also always tasty, and they usually give you choices for your milk/creamer. The ambiance is so insta-worthy and aesthetic. It can be hard to move around because the seating is tight, but no matter where you are sat you have such a pretty view of the indoor decor or Broadway through the windows. The staff has always been cheery and friendly, providing great recommendations and taking requests gratuitously. Second year in a row we've dined here for my friend's bday, and it will continue to be a tradition! Even though the seating is tight, the food is phenomenal and our server Tay was so cheery and helpful! I was afraid the peach cobbler iced latte would be too sweet, so she offered to ask the barista to go light on the sweetness. It was perfect! The pistachio latte was also a big hit. We started with the jalapeño cheddar corn fritter which was surprisingly delicious and big enough to share with several people. Our sandwiches were so big we brought half home, and the Parmesan truffle fries were well worth the extra $2 because they were the best I've had in a long time. Milkweed is a welcomed and fab addition to the historic Pitman downtown area and to the south NJ community. Definitely some new-restaurant growing pains, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and round up to four stars. Hopefully, they take all the feedback (see other reviews) and improve! Ambiance - 5/5 Rustic, aesthetically pleasing, quaint, adorable. Throw pillows and decor for days. They basically bought out a HomeGoods and I love it. There's seating out front as well as inside and in the back. Food - 3/5 My boyfriend LOVED the pumpkin butter and biscuits but I disagree. Pumpkin butter was lightly sweetened and decadent (5/5 if we are talking about that alone) but as someone born and raised in Texas, I thought they were tough and a little dry. For my main, I ordered the chicken and waffles which were delightful. A little stingy on the chicken but flavor-wise, perfection. Service - 4/5 No complaints here necessarily. This was my first time here this morning. I passed it a few times and thought it looked cute and trendy. My mom told me it was average but I wanted to try myself. The inside was extremely clean and trendy. We sat outside because the inside was so tight. It looked like people were eating on top of each other. Our waitress was so nice and attentive. I ordered salmon toast with a poached egg and my mom ordered steak and eggs. The presentation was pretty. The food was below average. I eat out a lot and know what good food tastes like. It was over priced and the taste was just not there. I am glad I tried this place, but I will most likely not be back unless a friend wants to go for just coffee. I had been reading so many great reviews about Milkweed, so I decided to give it a try. We didn't need any reservations, and we were seated fairly quick. My first impression was disappointment. From the pictures on the website, and on Yelp and Google I thought the place would be more spacious. The place is really cramped. I didn't want to take any pictures of the inside, because it was so crowded, and I didn't want to annoy people taking pictures of the inside of the place. Needless to say, it is very cramped. Especially at lunch time, which is when I went, you're right on top of people. Also, there's no AC. They could really use a fly exterminator, because there seem to be an abundance of them. So right off the bat, I must say I was a little disappointed. It's very noisy in there as well, because you're so cramped. Don't expect to have a quiet brunch. We went on a weekday afternoon at 11:00, thinking that would be a good time to have brunch, but the place was packed. I figured that the food would make up for the disappointment I felt at the ambience of the place. The aesthetics were just okay, but it didn't look like the pictures on the website. The biggest problem was the amount of flies that you had the bat away from your food. It made any expectation of an enjoyable meal moot. I was expecting dynamite food because the place was so full. We started off with coffee, and two appetizers. I got the peaches and ricotta ($12), and my guest ordered the cream filled donuts ($7). The ricotta wasn't sweetened, but the peaches were sort of there to add some sort of sweetness. I ended up having to put sugar on it to make it taste like a confection for the toast (4 half slices). The cream filled donuts were very good, and they paired well with the weak coffee. They had lemon shavings on them with cream inside. I would get the donuts again, but not the peaches. For our entrees, I ordered the short rib omelette ($16), and my guest ordered the steak and egg ranchero ($18). Neither were that great. No seasoning, very bland. Cooked well, but no seasoning is the general takeaway from both entrees. With the short rib, I just expected a little bit more flavor and maybe a hint of barbecue. I tasted neither. As far as the steak, no seasoning on the steak and it was a little tough. Both entrees were disappointing. Despite what I read about the service not being up to par, I did not have that experience. Our server was very attentive and was very pleasant. Even topped off our coffee. That was probably the best part of the meal, that we got seated so fast, and our server was nice definite 5.0. I don't know if I would return. I noticed the Eggs Benedict looked good, and I thought about going back to try that. Honestly though, the flies, the loudness, with the cramped seating arrangements, and the blandness of the food makes me really think twice about coming back. I'm surprised at what good reviews this place received, because that was not my experience there. I believe in being transparent and honest when it comes to reviews of restaurants and places. I hate giving a bad review. I really love what they're doing with the downtown in Pitman, and I love the fact that we have little places like this to enjoy. That being said, I just think they need to step their game up a little bit as far as getting the place together, and the taste of the food. This place gets about a two out of five. Lovvveee the atmosphere and mostly the food is consistently good. Dear Lord, help the owner that people continue to go there. The service 1000% stinks. They are so chit chatty behind the long counter, while people are waiting out the door. The waitresses are sometime pleasant but for what we are paying they should be happier, come back and check on your customer. Also, I understand the whole paying cash, but please have the waitresses carry some change. Not once,twice but 3 times they kept the "change", trust me it wasn't to be considered a big tip either. All staff we interacted with was friendly and informative. I thought the food quality and quantity was exceptional for price. Have been waiting to come here for a bit, and decided to come with a friend for brunch on a weekday. We went around noon and there was no wait at all! We sat outside which was nice as it was just warm enough that day. We both got cookie butter lattes. It was sweet, which was perfect for me because i'm not big on plain coffee. I ordered a cheese omelette which was a good size. It came with potatoes on the side and they're so good. My friend got the avocado toast which was a bit smaller. I did order a side of toast as well because it does not come with the omelettes. It was a good size slice on the side. Wasn't sure what to expect of this "new" business given the mixed reviews. In brief, I'll say I had a mixed experience. Some reviewers seem to think the prices are high; I thought their prices matched similar establishments. I found the service, overall, to be good. Had to ask twice for a juice cup for my friend but- hey - we all forget things from time-to-time. Some reviewers noted their chicken was dark, like it's over cooked. The chicken in both the Benedict (which is what I ordered) and Chicken & Waffles is Cajun so I expected it to be dark rather than golden. Here ends my analysis as compared with other reviewers. I ordered Farmers Benedict; my friend ordered the Avocado Toast. I don't like my poached egg super runny so I asked it to be cooked a little more - it was just right. My chicken was flavorful. The biscuit held the sauces. My friend enjoyed her plate. This is getting three stars for two reasons- 1) I only give 5 stars when the experience goes above and beyond what I can get somewhere else. That wasn't true here. I've been to lots of good restaurants equivalent to this so nothing outstanding. 2) they only accept cash. If their beef is vendor fees- build that in (you can always give a discount for cash payments). They do offer an ATM on-site but I take to be their way of actually getting more money from you (a portion of the ATM fee). I chose to walk across the street to the bank cuz that bothers me. (They won't add a merchant fee to the price but they will gouge you for their part of an ATM fee.) It's a place worth trying but be sure you have cash. read more

We went today to try this new restaurant that is open for brunch. 8am-3pm. To get into the restaurant there are 4 stairs you must climb. They are no wheel chair accessibly or the elderly friendly if you have hard time going up stairs. They do have outdoor seating but too cold for the fall. The place looks nice but very small and crowded and loud. This is a cash only place no credit cards. There is an ATM outside to get cash. But these days restaurants should take credit cards. We ordered their 3 homemade biscuits with pumpkin butter but they were raw and very doughy. They need to be cooked more. We ordered two eggs both over medium and one came back over medium and one over easy. They don't have white toast. We ordered whole grain toast that needed toasted more. Their home fries contain sweet potato fries and regular mixed. They should have been clear about that. Their menu is on their website as they don't have physical menus. I ordered the frittata at 9am Sunday and they didn't have it. Not good for a restaurant that is starting to not have something on their small menu. The waitress did not tell us they didn't have it until we ordered it. The bacon and fries seemed they were prepared ahead of time and not fresh as they were cold. They charged $4.50 for orange juice but unfortunately it is not fresh squeezed. I am surprised such a place doesn't have fresh squeezed orange juice. Their cappuccinos and lattes were good. The eggs were good. Service was poor. They need more training. I had to ask two different waitresses to bring me some strawberry jam as the first one never brought it out. It was ok but nothing to bring me back again. They have chicken and waffles but I did it see on their menu that we can order a side of waffles. Please pay attention to details. read more

Ok so we came here a week ago and enjoyed the place enough that we came back to try brunch. We really enjoy the ambiance and the food is genuinely good, but OMG the service is horrible. We waited 20 mins to put our order in and then 30 mins to get our order even after other seated after us we already eating. After we got it it was WRONG and COLD.I just don't get how this place keeps busy with this kind of service. Well. Food was pretty bad. Pretty bland and tasteless. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the piece of chicken was razor thin with a thick hard crust...almost tasted stale and extremely greasy. My friend order the Eggs Benedict and it came with two fired eggs instead of poached. Pretty nasty. Also we had someone with a gluten allergy. Nowhere on the menu it said that there would be an upcharge for gluten free bread... even though she couldn't eat anything else that came with the meal, which was actually left off the order. She still got an upcharge for a piece of bread. Which would have been ok but they didn't mention that anywhere on the menu or upon ordering. Lastly. Cash only, and they don't take reservations. You show up and have to give your name to the lady which writes it down in a notebook and physically calls you. So you're basically wandering the town for 45 mins since they don't have an adequate waiting area. It would be good to get on OpenTable of something so you're not wasting your customers time. It's not like they don't understand technology...since their menu is only available by scanning a QR code on your smart phone. If you like bad food and crazy prices this is the place for you. If you want something with taste...go somewhere else. If you are looking for amazing food look no further. Milkweed Table + Market is hands downs one of the best brunch places around. Beautiful inside coupled with an amazing staff. I myself had the Western Omelette with Home fries which was amazing on its own, but I also had the Chicken + Waffle and let me tell you it was some of the best I have had. The chicken was perfectly crisp on the outside and delectably juicy on the inside. All I have to say is my compliments to the cooking staff for giving me such an enjoyable meal. The food came out cold and was mediocre at best if it had been warm, and my daughter's avocado spread was totally brown. Unfortunately, the service was even worse. I had to get up twice to get things that she never brought to the table and when we mentioned the avocado spread (that was never eaten), she said that it's brown because "they made it fresh earlier in the morning" and left it on the bill. Holy fly's. The place was loaded with them. On all the silverware, tables and glasses. On the walls and ceiling's as well. If my wife didn't want to stay I would have got up and left. The descriptions of the menu items sounded AMAZING so I couldn't wait to try brunch here. I just wish the food we were served lived up to the food as it sounded on paper.... A few highlights: We started by sharing the Jalapeño cheddar corn fritters with maple butter and the potato pierogies. I was looking forward to the spicy/sweet combination of the fritters but if you are concerned about heat, do not be- for $9 we got what ended up tasting and looking like 2 small corn pancakes. They were ok. The pierogies were oily and completely tasteless- $11 for three. Things looked up for the main dishes. I got the chicken and waffles which was ironically more spicy than the Jalapeño corn fritter. They did cover everything in syrup so by the time I got it everything was a bit soggy, but the taste was there-this is the only food item I would reorder and specify the syrup on the side. The best menu item by far was the lattes. They were creamy and delicious and they had some fun flavors. I ordered an iced latte with dark chocolate and it was amazing.
